The Girl that Jake Built
Jake say a girl lying in the street,
A sorrier sight you never did meet.
But as he crossed to the other side,
He saw a spark in her eyes that never really died.
He thought he could turn that spark into a flame,
He thought maybe she could bring him some fame.
Jake took her home and cleaned her up,
He gave her some food and she fell inlove.
He washed her hair and dressed her up nice,
The hairdresser had hands cold as ice.
He took the girl to a modeling agency,
And they looked at her for a small fee.
She was cleaned up yet again,
And deep in her heart she felt a lot of pain.
They said she'd been 'discovered' and sent her to Revlon,
They gave Jake some money and then he was gone.
They slapped on some make-up and had a photo shoot,
They put her in Magazines and said she looked cute.
But her heart's still been broken since Jake's been gone,
She wonders about him and if he's moved on.
He thought it was a favor that he'd set her flame free,
But now she feels trapped just like me.
And outside the frame of all that she's felt,
Is the souless shell of the girl that Jake built.
