Never Wrong
by Taitofan
Rated PG-13 for yaoi
Disclaimer- Trust me, if I owned the characters, they'd be making out on-screen.  So nope, they're not mine.
Author's note- This extremely tiny, mostly-conversation ficlet was written late at night after I was angered by a local news report; the character's feelings match my own.  I tried to make it fluffy, even if I was mad.  Oh, and this is a bit AU, seeing that they've never met on the show and one of the characters is alive in this fic.  So it's kind of OOC too.  Keep in mind, these are the original names, not dub ones.
Flames don't bother me (I eat them with cocktail sauce), and CC is welcomed.  Please read, review and enjoy!  Finished 7-11-03

"Do you love me?"

"That's a silly question, of course I do!  Why ask when you already know the answer?"

"I just like to hear you say it."

"Luckily for you, I love saying it as much as you love hearing it."

"...I love you."

"I love you too."

The two boys leaned closer, until their lips gently met in a tender kiss, full of passion.  When they parted, the older of the two looked a bit worried.

"Is something bothering you?"

"No, no, of course not."

"Oh really?  Then why do your eyes say differently?"

"Well...  Okay.  I heard something on TV..."

"Go on, love.  What did you hear that's upsetting you so much?"

"The newsman said that most homosexual couples only last in a union for a year and a half while heterosexual ones last ten years.  And most gay people have like, eight different lovers while straight people say faithful.  It was like they were saying we were a bunch of cheating sluts!"

"Oh my...  I understand why youre upset.  But youve got to realize something.  I don't need to be psychic to know that's a bunch of bull!  Not only do most marriages end in divorce after two years, but cheating is usually the main factor.  So if they got their data from a real source, it was probably just one.  They probably went somewhere they knew that kind of stuff happened; just to make straight people look better.  Oh, but love, they're wrong.  There's nothing wrong with our love.  Maybe we can never get married, but I plan on being with you and only with you forever.  No one could possibly love someone as much as I love you, Ghost.  And I always will, no matter what those fools lie about."

"Esper...  Thank you.  I'll always love you too."

Nothing else was said as they moved in for a deeper, longer kiss.  They didn't need to say anything else; they loved each other and that was what was important.  And most of all, it was true.  News people could say what they wanted, but a love so pure could never be broken, regardless of how much they lied.

To Esper Roba and Ghost Kotsuzuka, love was love and nothing could change that.
