The Ginns of Ware                                                                                                                                                          BWE 04 Apr 2008

Determining the ancestors of Benjamin Ginn (1781-1835) is not immediately obvious

His will refers to his brother Thomas a plumber of Hertford, who was born in Ware, Herts

His daughters Mary and Ann were both buried in Ware,

He and later Thomas owned a house in Kibes Lane, Ware

No baptism record has been found for Benjamin or Thomas, however they are believed to be children of

Benjamin Ginn of Ware and his line of descent from Richard Ginne is as follows

Richard Ginne (c1590- --)

Richard married Beteresse (=Beatrice? ) Gylderson in 1616 in Widford, Herts (5km E of Ware)

They had one child Richard Ginne baptised in 1617 in Ware

Richard Ginne (1617-1697)

Richard became a shoemaker, and owned property in Great Amwell, Herts (2 km SE of Ware)

He married Mary --- and they had 12 children all baptised in Ware, including Benjamin Gynne in 1687

Richard's will was proved in 1697 at Chelmsford

This mentions his wife Mary and seven of their children including Benjamin

Benjamin Gynne (1687-1760)

Benjamin and Mary Richerson were both living in Ware when they were married there in 1716

They had three children baptised in Ware, including Benjamin Ginn in 1717

Benjamin was buried in Ware 1760

Benjamin Ginn (1717-1798)

In 1740 he married Mary Barnes in Ware

They had six children all baptised in Ware, including Benjamin Ginn in 1755

He was a member of the local Militia 1758-1762

He was a Labourer, later Maltmaker, and in 1761-1766 they were living in Baldcock St, Ware

He was buried in Ware in 1798

Benjamin Ginn (1755-1807)

He married Rachel Hobbs in Ware in 1779

It is believed they had eight children including Benjamin c. 1781, Thomas c.1784 both born in Ware, and another six children

all baptised at the Old Meeting, Dead Lane, Ware (for which no records survive before 1786)

He too was a member of the Militia 1780-1801, for many years he was a Plasterer

From 1780-1806 he owned a house in Kibes Lane, Ware

And in 1807 he was buried at All Saints Church, Hertford
