Henry
the son of Bemjamin and Mary Ginn was born in Bexhill, Sussex and baptised as
Henry Ginn at the parish church
of St Peter, Hamsey, Sussey
in 1819
He
was barely four when is mother Mary died and only 16 when his father Benjamin
died
He
was articled to William Cubbit , Architect, London
In
1840 he sailed to Australia and worked in Sydney, NSW
Then
in 1841-42 he went to England and then back again
In
1844 he married Jane Balmain in Sydney and went to work as the Clerk of Works
in Port Phillip, in the Melbourne
area, Victoria
Four
children were born (1845-51), the first baptised in Sydney and the others in
Melbourne
Then
in 1853 they all went to England, where three more children were born as Ghinn
( 1854-57) in Norwood,
South London, St Leonards, Sussex and
West Derby, Lancashire
And
also in 1857 Jane died, possibly in childbirth, in West Derby
Then
in 1859 he married Sophia Hyslop in Marylebone, London and in 1861 an eighth
child was born in St Pancras
and the second child aged 14 also died.
The next year Sophia died and in 1866 the youngest child also died
Then
in 1869 he took his six remaining children back to Victoria, and he died in
Melbourne in 1892
Henry
had four sons, two died young one is known to have married but it is not known
if Henry had any
Ghinn grandchildren
The
first child Mary, married a Mr Thomas and their grandson married one of Ernest
Ghinn's grandchildren
