Show Me Heaven

Sequel to What My Heart Says

Prologue

Five months later…

Elizabeth lie on the couch in her and Jason’s house, staring at their wedding picture.

Jason was away on business again and Elizabeth was waiting up for him to come home. Waiting, while reflecting on the past few months.

Flashback…

“Elizabeth, from the moment I saw you on the docks when you first came to Port Charles, I knew you were the one for me. The first time I kissed you, I knew I was in love with you. And when I almost lost you, I knew I couldn’t live without you. You’re the most important thing in my life and I never want to be without you. When you walk into the room, my heart skips a beat. When you kiss me, my knees go weak. You have a power over me, that leaves me breathless,” Jason said.

Her eyes tearing, Elizabeth smiled as she recognized words that she’d written months back on her bus with Brian and Nick. She followed Jason’s eyes to stage right and watched as Brian, Kevin, Nick, AJ, and Howie came on the stage. Music started and they began to sing.

Don't pretend you're sorry
I know you're not
You know you got the power
To make me weak inside
Girl you leave me breathless
But it's okay ‘cause
You are my survival
Now hear me say
I can't imagine life without your love
Even forever don't seem like long enough

'Cause every time I breathe I take you in
And my heart beats again
Baby I can't help it
You keep me drowning in your love
Every time I try to rise above
I'm swept away by love
Baby I can't help it
You keep me drowning in your love

Elizabeth listened as the Boys sang. She had never imagined it sounding like that. There was so much love emanating from their words, her words. By now, Jason had pulled her into his arms and they danced. Even though there were 20,000 in the Garden and an infinite number of people watching at home, being in Jason’s arms, she felt like they were the only two there.

Maybe I'm a drifter, maybe not
'Cause I am on the safety
Of flowing freely in your arms
I don't need another lover
It's not for me
'Cause only you can save me
Oh can't you see
I can't imagine life without your love
And even forever don't seem like long enough

'Cause every time I breathe I take you in
And my heart beats again
Baby I can't help it
You keep me drowning in your love
Every time I try to rise above
I'm swept away by love
Baby I can't help it
You keep me drowning in your love

Go on and pull me under
Cover me with dreams, yeah
Love me mouth to mouth now
You know I can't resist
'Cause you're the air that I breathe

Every time I breathe I take you in (‘Cause every time I breathe, yeah)
And my heart beats again
Baby I can't help it (Baby I can’t help it)
You keep me drowning in your love
Every time I try to rise above
I'm swept away by love
And baby I can't help it
You keep me drowning your love

Baby I can't help it
Keep me drowning in your love

'Cause every time I breathe I take you in (I do)
And my heart beats again
Baby I can't help it (Baby I can’t help it)
You keep me drowning in your love
Every time I try to rise above
I'm swept away by love
Baby I can't help it
You keep me drowning in your love

“Thank you,” she mouthed to the Boys when the song was over.

“That’s how you make me feel,” Jason continued. “I’m surrounded by your love everyday and it takes over me. It keeps me alive. Every breath I take, I feel you and how much you love me. And I want you to know that I love you just as much. When I think that I can’t love you anymore than I do, my feelings grow. I love you more everyday and that will never change.”

Slowing down a bit, Jason dropped to one knee and reached into his pocket.

“I want to spend the rest of my life with you, showing you how much I love you every single day. Elizabeth Corinthos, will you marry me?” Jason asked.

Elizabeth was speechless. Jason’s whole proposal was more than she ever could’ve imagined. She glanced around and saw Emily, Lila, Monica, and Carly crying. Gia and Larissa were filling up as well. The moment was perfect.

She turned back to Jason and saw in his crystal blue eyes, how much love he had for her.

“Yes,” she said.

His smile widening, Jason slipped the ring on Elizabeth’s finger and somehow ended up on his feet, kissing her.

End flashback

Jason’s proposal to her was beautiful. She knew Jason was a man of few words so she cherished everything that he’d said to her that night. Her engagement to Jason would’ve been enough that night to make everything perfect, but she decided then that it was the perfect time to tell him that she was pregnant.

Flashback

“Is everything okay?” Jason asked, concerned.

“Everything’s fine, baby,” Elizabeth replied. “Better than fine. Perfect even.”

“What’s going on?” Jason asked.

“How would you feel if I said you were going to be a father?” Elizabeth asked.

“I’m…you’re…we,” Jason stammered.

“Yes,” Elizabeth said. “I’m pregnant. We are having a baby.”

“Jason’s eyes brightened, he pulled her into his arms, and spun her around.

End flashback

Not too long after that night, Elizabeth and Jason were married. It was soon, but not rushed. Jason and Elizabeth wanted to be married before the baby was born, but Elizabeth didn’t want to be showing too much at their wedding.

The wedding took place on Elizabeth and Jason’s estate. Staring at their wedding picture, Elizabeth thought back to their wedding day.

Flashback…

Jason was standing in an arch with Sonny by his side. Michael had come down the aisle with the rings on a pillow and took his place beside Sonny.

The bridesmaids and groomsman followed, Emily with Johnny, Larissa with Francis, and Gia with Nikolas. Carly, the matron of honor came down the aisle by herself and the Wedding March began.

The guests turned to the back where Elizabeth was standing, dressed in a beautiful Chloe Morgan original, a white satin, strapless gown. AJ was by her side.

Jason and Elizabeth had both agreed that AJ should be a part of their ceremony and since they had enough groomsman and Elizabeth had no one to walk her down the aisle, she asked AJ. He’d become a big brother to her since she and Jason had been together, and she felt that he was the only one, other than Sonny, who was the best man, to take Mike’s place in giving her away.

“You ready?” AJ whispered.

Elizabeth nodded and they took their first steps towards the arch. Jason couldn’t take his eyes off her. She was breathtaking. AJ joined Elizabeth and Jason’s hands and the priest began.

******

“The rings please,” the priest eventually said.

Sonny took the rings from the pillow Michael was holding and gave them to the priest.

“Jason,” the priest said. “Your vows to Elizabeth.”

Jason took Elizabeth’s hand and began to put the ring on her finger as he said his vows.

“Elizabeth, you’re my best friend, my love, my reason for living,” Jason began. “Together, we’ve been through good times and bad. And we’ve gotten through it all and it makes our love stronger. I love you and the baby we created from out love and I look forward to our life together so I can spend the rest of my life loving you.”

“Jason,” Elizabeth began, putting the ring on his finger. “You’re my everything. Our past has had its ups and downs, but we made it through, stronger. You’ve given me something to come home to after all the time I’ve spent on the road. With you I found everything I’ve ever wanted, a place to always come back to, the most amazing love, and a family. I love you with all my heart and I will spend the rest of my life loving you.”

“By the power invested in me, by the state of New York, I know pronounce you husband and wife,” the priest said. “You may kiss the bride.”

Jason lowered his head and kissed Elizabeth, sealing their marriage. They walked down the aisle as their friends and family applauded and cheered.

Chapter 1

Jason walked into the living room of his and Elizabeth’s home and found his wife sleeping on the couch, hugging their wedding picture to her chest.

He smiled as he took in her pregnant form. Kneeling beside the couch, he brushed a strand of hair off her face and tucked it behind her ear. She smiled a little and opened her eyes slowly.

“Hi,” Jason said.

“I waited up for you,” Elizabeth said. “Sort of.”

Jason laughed and Elizabeth sat up.

“I’m exhausted,” Jason said. “Do you want to go back to sleep?”

“Upstairs in bed,” Elizabeth said.

“Sounds like a plan,” Jason said.

He slipped an arm under her knees and the other across her back and lifted Elizabeth off the couch. Even being six months pregnant, she felt weightless in his arms.

Her eyes heavy, Elizabeth rested her head against Jason’s chest as he climbed the stairs and entered their bedroom. With the bed already turned down, Jason put Elizabeth down gently and pulled the blanket over her. He pulled his tee shirt over his head and stepped out of his boots, socks, and jeans before slipping into bed beside her. Elizabeth instinctively moved closer to him and Jason draped his arm over her, his hand resting on her pregnant belly. Closing his eyes, Jason allowed himself to drift off to sleep.

Chapter 2

A few days later…

“Mrs. Morgan,” Max said. “What are you doing here?”

“Max, we’ve been through this,” Elizabeth said. “You can call me Elizabeth.”

“But Mrs.…” Max said, before catching Elizabeth’s eye. “Alright, Elizabeth, so what are you doing at the warehouse?”

“Looking for my darling husband,” Elizabeth replied. “He around?”

“In his office,” Max said.

“Thank you,” Elizabeth replied.

******

“Not again,” Jason groaned, staring at the numbers on the paper in front of him.

“Bad day?” Elizabeth asked walking inside.

“Man are you a sight for sore eyes,” Jason said.

“I’m glad I could be of service to you,” Elizabeth replied with a smile.

Jason got up from his chair and took his wife into his arms.

“Thank you for coming by,” Jason said kissing her. “So what are you doing here?”

“I got a phone call today,” Elizabeth said.

“Is everything okay?” Jason asked, immediately concerned.

“Yes, yes, everything’s fine,” Elizabeth said. “It’s nothing bad. Its actually really good news.”

“Okay,” Jason said.

“Jerry Bruckheimer called me this morning,” Elizabeth said. Jason’s face remained unchanged. Oh that’s right, you’re not a movie buff. Jerry Bruckheimer is a big time producer. He’s working on a huge blockbuster right now and asked me to write and perform the love theme for the soundtrack.”

“That’s great honey,” Jason said.

“I’m so excited,” Elizabeth said. “It’ll be good to work again.”

“Are they going to give you a point of reference to write from?” Jason asked.

“Wow, you have picked up a lot from me,” Elizabeth said with a small laugh. “But yeah, Jerry’s going to send me a rough edit of the film so I know what I’m writing about.”

“That should help you,” Jason said.

“I hope so. I mean I really want it to come out well,” Elizabeth said. “It’s been months for me and this movie’s going to be huge so it would be nice to make a good first appearance back on the music scene.”

“I’m sure it will be perfect,” Jason replied.

“Thank you. It’s nice to have your support,” Elizabeth said. “There is one other thing.”

“What?” Jason asked.

“Well, I’m doing the writing and recording from here at L&B, but the video for the single is going to be shot, hopefully in two months or so, in Pearl Harbor, on the movie set,” Elizabeth said.

“You’re going to be almost full term by then,” Jason said.

“I know,” Elizabeth said. “Which is one of the reason’s I want you to come with me, because hey, you never know.”

“Of course I’ll go,” Jason said.

“Good,” Elizabeth replied, stifling a yawn.

“Tired?” Jason asked.

“A little,” Elizabeth said.

“Did you walk here again?” Jason asked.

“Francis didn’t mind,” Elizabeth said. “Besides, I wanted the exercise.”

“And you wore yourself out,” Jason said.

“I guess,” Elizabeth admitted quietly.

“I’m not going to be here much longer,” Jason said. “Why don’t you take a nap on the couch and then we’ll leave together and stop and pick up dinner on the way home.”

“Sure,” Elizabeth said.

She lay down on the couch and Jason sat on the edge. He wrapped his jacket around her upper body, kissed her lightly, and went back to his desk to work.

******

“Jason, did you finish those…” Sonny said.

“Sh,” Jason cut in, motioning to Elizabeth sleeping on the couch.

“Sorry,” Sonny whispered.

Jason nodded and walked out of his office behind Sonny.

“How long has she been here?” Sonny asked.

“About an hour and a half, but she’s been sleeping for an hour,” Jason said.

“Did you figure out the new shipments?” Sonny asked.

“Unfortunately yes,” Jason replied.

“That doesn’t sound good,” Sonny said.

“From what I can see, Sorel is slowly making his way back,” Jason said. “We’re missing two cases of the Colombian blend. They’ll probably turn up with a mixture of drugs in a few days.”

“Can you track and get rid of them?” Sonny asked.

“I’m working on it,” Jason replied.

“Good,” Sonny said. “As long as you’re on top of it.”

“I am,” Jason said.

“Thanks,” Sonny said. “When Elizabeth wakes up, you two can get out of here.”

“Thank you,” Jason said. “If I don’t see you, I’ll talk to you tomorrow.”

“Sure,” Sonny said. “And just remember, Sorel may be lurking, so keep an extra watchful eye.”

“I will,” Jason said.

“Jase,” Elizabeth’s soft, sleepy voice said from behind him.

“Hi baby,” Jason said, kissing her. “Sleep well?”

“Yes,” Elizabeth said, rubbing her eyes. “Hi Sonny.”

“Hi Bella,” Sonny said. “How are you?”

“I’m good,” Elizabeth said. “You?”

“Fine,” Sonny said, hugging her.

“I’m finished here, so if you’re ready,” Jason said.

“Sounds good, baby,” Elizabeth said.

“I’ll see you tomorrow, Sonny,” Jason said.

“Have a good night,” Sonny said.

“Thank you,” Elizabeth said.

******

“Jason,” Elizabeth said when he walked into the kitchen later that night.

“Ice cream again, baby?” Jason asked, seeing Elizabeth scoop a generous amount of cookie dough ice cream into a bowl.

“That baby wants it,” Elizabeth said with a pout.

“You know I can’t deny you anything,” Jason said. Help yourself, I won’t tell.”

“Thank you,” Elizabeth said. “’Cause then I’d just get another lecture from Sonny.”

“And I know you hate those,” Jason said, his arms wrapping around her.

“Jason, I want to talk to you,” Elizabeth said, looking up at him.

“Sounds serious,” Jason said.

“It is, Jason,” Elizabeth said. “I heard you and Sonny talking about Sorel before.”

“Eavesdropping?” Jason said with a playful smile.

“Not intentionally, but Jason, don’t change the subject,” Elizabeth said. “Is Sorel a threat to us?”

“Look at me,” Jason said.

Elizabeth looked up at Jason and he saw all the fear in her eyes.

“I will not let anything happen to you or to our baby,” Jason said.

“Or yourself,” Elizabeth added.

“Or myself,” Jason agreed. “I promise.”

“Good,” Elizabeth said. “Now we are going to watch Armageddon because I want you to have an idea of who Jerry Bruckheimer is before Pearl Harbor.”

Jason laughed and followed her to the couch in the entertainment room.

Chapter 3

A few days later, a week before Valentine’s Day…

“Elizabeth, hi, it’s Matt,” the answering machine said. “Listen, I’ve got a gig for you, if you’re interested. Give me a call back and I’ll give you all the details.”

Jason and Elizabeth had returned from the early dinner they’d attended at the Quartermaine’s and Elizabeth checked the messages, seeing the machine’s blinking light.

“See Jason, people call us when we’re not here,” Elizabeth said.

“Very funny baby,” Jason said. “You gonna call him back?”

“Tomorrow,” Elizabeth said. “I want to start watching the Pearl Harbor tape that Jerry sent.”

“Okay,” Jason said.

******

While Elizabeth was organizing her recordings in her studio the next morning, she returned Matt’s call.

“Matthew Strickland,” he answered.

“Matt, it’s Elizabeth. How are you?” she asked.

“Good,” Matt said. “You got my message?”

“Yes. What gig were you talking about?” Elizabeth asked.

“MTV’s doing a Valentine’s Day special; love, romance, blah, blah, blah,” Matt said.

“Still single huh?” Elizabeth said with a laugh.

“Anyway,” Matt said, changing the subject. “The show’s going to be done live from MTV Studios on Valentine’s Day. You’d be guest hosting with Carson Daly and closing the show. Interested?”

“Sounds good, book it,” Elizabeth said.

“Okay,” Matt said.

******

At the warehouse…

“Did you handle the missing coffee situation?” Sonny asked.

“We tracked it and got rid of it,” Jason said. “We had doubled the shipment of the Colombian blend so we still fulfilled all orders.”

“Good,” Sonny said.

“So what are you and Carly doing for Valentine’s Day?” Jason asked when business was finished.

“I don’t know,” Sonny said. “How about you and Elizabeth?”

“Well Elizabeth may be performing somewhere, but we didn’t have any specifics this morning,” Jason said.

“When you find out, let us know,” Sonny said.

“Will do,” Jason said.

******

“Any ideas on what you’re going to sing?” Matt asked.

“I don’t know,” Elizabeth said, thumbing through some recent recordings. “Just a sec, I’ve got something in mind, I just need to find it. P, Q, R…S, here it is.”

“You alphabetize your recordings?” Matt asked with a laugh.

“At least I can find my copies,” Elizabeth said. “How many times have you had to turn the studio upside-down because you lost one?”

“Ha ha ha,” Matt said.

“So what about Show Me Heaven?” Elizabeth said. “The one I wrote with Brian and Nick when we were on the road.”

“Play a little of it for me,” Matt said.

Elizabeth put the c.d. into the stereo and turned it up so Matt could hear it over the phone.

“What do you think?” Elizabeth asked after a verse and a chorus.

“Perfect,” Matt said. “A definite closer.”

“Good,” Elizabeth said.

“I’ll talk to you when I get the times for the show and sound check,” Matt said.

“Alright,” Elizabeth said. “I’ll talk to you then.”

“Bye,” Matt said.

******

“Morgan,” Jason said picking up the phone in his office.

“Hi honey,” Elizabeth said.

“Elizabeth, what’s up?” Jason asked.

“I spoke to Matt,” Elizabeth said. “It’s a Valentine’s Day show at MTV. I’ll have a couple of passes so I figured you could let Sonny know and see if he and Carly want to come along.”

“I’ll talk to him before I leave,” Jason said. “What about Johnny and Emily and everyone else?”

“I spoke to Emily, Larissa, and Gia,” Elizabeth said. “They all want to come, but weren’t sure if their guys would be interested.”

“I’m sure they’d love to see you perform again,” Jason said.

“Talk to Johnny and Francis and I’ll talk to Nikolas,” Elizabeth said. “I need to talk to him about an interview anyway.”

“Okay,” Jason said. “I’ll be home in a little while. And Elizabeth, please try and get some rest. I don’t want you to tire yourself out with all this work.”

“I’ll be fine,” Elizabeth insisted. “I’m pregnant not ill with a terminal disease.”

Her tone was sharp and he knew he’d upset her.

“I’m sorry,” Jason said. “I just worry about you and the baby.”

“I know,” Elizabeth replied. “And I’m sorry I snapped at you. It’s just been awhile since I’ve done any performing and I don’t want to miss the opportunity.”

“Just promise you won’t work too hard,” Jason said.

“I won’t, I promise,” Elizabeth said. “In fact, I’m going to get some rest now.”

“Thank you,” Jason said. “I’ll be home soon. Do you want me to pick up dinner?”

“Sounds good,” Elizabeth said.

“Chinese or pizza?” Jason asked.

“Chinese,” Elizabeth replied.

“Alright. I’ll see you later,” Jason said.

“I love you,” Elizabeth said.

“I love you too,” Jason replied. “And sweet dreams.”

Chapter 4

Valentine’s Day…

Elizabeth, Jason, Sonny, Carly, Nikolas, Gia, Johnny, Emily, Francis, and Larissa were in Elizabeth’s dressing room at MTV having dinner. A knock on the door caught Elizabeth’s attention and she looked up.

“Hey Liz,” Carson Daly said.

“Hi Carson,” Elizabeth said.

“Oh my God, it’s Carson Daly,” Emily exclaimed.

“Hi,” Carson said flashing a smile.

“He’s so hot,” Larissa gushed to the girls.

“Hey,” Francis said.

“Don’t worry,” Larissa said kissing him. “I still love you.”

“Liz, you have to do a quick sound check when Alicia Keys is finished,” Carson said.

“Alicia Keys is here?” Gia said. “I love her.”

“No problem,” Elizabeth said. “I’ll be right out.”

“Okay,” Carson said.

Jason stood up and pulled Elizabeth up from the sinking couch.

“Thanks,” Elizabeth said. “You guys can sit tight, I’ll be back in a few minutes.”

******

“Everything’s clear with sound check,” the sound guy said.

“Good,” Carson said. “Let’s just go over the program order. Now no one knows you’re the surprise guest, Elizabeth, so we’ll open with Alicia and then I’ll do a quick introduction. The Backstreet Boys will perform and then you’ll be introduced.”

“Actually, I spoke to Brian earlier and I’m going to be performing a special version of Drowning with them tonight,” Elizabeth said. “After that, the show will go on as planned. We’ll do some interviews and have some more performances from Lifehouse, Alicia, and the Boys. Then I’ll close.”

“Sounds good to me,” Carson said. “Everyone okay with that?”

Everyone agreed and Elizabeth went back to her dressing room to get dressed and warm up.

She changed into a black skirt and a red top and did some vocalizing while Alicia Keys opened the show.

If I gave you forever
Would you take care of me (a oo)
Would you take me for granted
On the way

Those wonderful things that you do
They got me feeling
In love with you
In love with you

That loving you this easy
Comes so naturally
Loving you this easy
Comes so naturally

I would give you laughter
And so much more than that
Oh yes I would (a oo)
And to find your laughter
I would climb the highest mountain
to bring it back
you better believe

Those wonderful things that you do
They got me feeling
In love with you
In love with you
That loving you this easy
Comes so naturally
Loving you this easy
Comes so naturally

I will stay by your side
Whether I'm wrong
Whether I'm right
oh it's incredible
with you I wanna spend the rest of my life, yeah

Loving you this easy
Comes so naturally
Loving you this easy
Comes so naturally

Loving you this easy
Comes so naturally
Loving you this easy
Comes so naturally

Loving you this easy
Comes so naturally
Loving you this easy
Comes so naturally

Loving you this easy

“Alicia Keys,” Carson said walking out. “Good evening everyone and welcome to MTV’s Valentine’s Day celebration. We’ve got a great show for you so snuggle up with your valentine and stick around.”

~~~~
“Welcome back and thanks for checking out MTV on Valentine’s Day,” Carson said. “Here’s the Backstreet Boys singing about what it’s like to be in love.”
“Hello New York,” AJ said.
“And a Happy Valentine’s Day to all,” Kevin said.
“We’re gonna do a little something new with Drowning tonight and for that we’ll need a little help from the song’s co-writer, your guest host for tonight, Elizabeth,” Brian said.
The crowd cheered as Elizabeth walked onto the stage and hugged the Boys and waved to the audience. She smiled when she saw her friends and family and blew Jason a kiss.
“Thank you,” Elizabeth said. “It is great to be here tonight celebrating Valentine’s Day with you. This is a new version of Drowning. If you like it, let us know and you might see it released as a single soon. You ready?”
“Let’s do it,” Nick said.
Don't pretend you're sorry
I know you're not
You know you got the power
To make me weak inside
Girl you leave me breathless
But it's okay ‘cause
You are my survival
Now hear me say
And my heart beats again
Baby I can't help it
You keep me drowning in your love
Every time I try to rise above
I'm swept away by love
Baby I can't help it
You keep me drowning in your love
Elizabeth added harmonies to the chorus and then sang the second verse with AJ adding harmonies.
Maybe I'm a drifter, maybe not
'Cause I am on the safety
Of flowing freely in your arms
I don't need another lover
It's not for me
'Cause only you can save me
Oh can't you see
Go on and pull me under
Cover me with dreams, yeah
Kevin sang the bridge and they all came back in for a roof raising final chorus.
Every time I breathe I take you in (‘Cause every time I breathe, yeah)
And my heart beats again
Baby I can't help it (Baby I can’t help it)
You keep me drowning in your love
Every time I try to rise above
You keep me drowning in your love
Every time I try to rise above
I'm swept away by love
Baby I can't help it
You keep me drowning in your love
The crowd went wild when they finished and everyone bowed.
“Elizabeth and the Backstreet Boys,” Carson Daly said.
“Thank you,” Elizabeth said. “So being Valentine’s Day, we thought we’d get a few celebrity perspectives on the holiday. And I think we should start with MTV’s most eligible bachelor, my co-host, Carson Daly, who is a great guy for any of you available woman in the crowd tonight.”
“Thank you so much Elizabeth,” Carson said with a laugh. “But I’d rather spend my Valentine’s Day with you.”
“That’s sweet, but I don’t think my husband would be willing to give me up that easily,” Elizabeth said. “Would you Jason?”
From the crowd, Jason shook his head no and Elizabeth smiled.
“I didn’t think so,” Elizabeth said. “So how about you boys? What does Valentine’s Day mean to you? Those like Carson who choose to remain single?”
“Valentine’s Day is a great time to be with someone you care about,” Howie said.
“And Nick?” Elizabeth asked.
“Oh sure, single me out,” Nick said. “I love Valentine’s Day. And I’m still looking so all single ladies can form a line at the door later.”
“Nice Nick, now we’ll never leave,” AJ said.
“We can’t all have a loving girlfriend like you AJ,” Nick said.
“Well thank you,” AJ said. “And that’s what Valentine’s Day is about for me. I love Amanda and on Valentine’s Day I spend all day showing her that any way I can think of.”
“And how is Valentine’s Day different when you’re married?” Elizabeth asked. “Any married couples want to answer that ‘cause Brian, Kevin, and I are new at this so we don’t know. No married couples in the crowd tonight? Well I know of one hiding in the back there. Hey big brother, I’ve got a question for you.”
Sonny shook his head as Elizabeth walked towards him.
“Come on, my wise older brother, you’ve got to have an answer for this one,” Elizabeth said.
“Valentine’s Day is a day when nothing else matters but your marriage and your love for each other,” Sonny began. “A lot of times, life gets in the way, and your marriage is pushed to the back, but on Valentine’s Day, there’s nothing more important than your vows.”
“I don’t think I could’ve said it better myself,” Elizabeth said. “Thank you Sonny. Anyway, we have to take a quick break, but we’ll be back with Lifehouse in a moment.”
~~~~

After a chat with Lifehouse, Carson introduced them to perform Breathing.

I'm finding my way back to sanity again

Though I don't really know what I’m gonna do when I get there

I take a breath and hold on tight

Spin around one more time

And gracefully fall back to the arms of grace

Cause I am hanging on every word you're saying

Even if you don't wanna speak tonight

That's alright, alright with me

Cause I want nothing more than to sit outside heaven's door

And listen to you breathing

It’s where I wanna be, yeah

Where I wanna be

I'm looking past the shadows in my mind into the truth

And I’m trying to identify the voices in my head

God wish won't you

Let me feel one more time what if feels like to feel

And break these calluses off me one more time

Cause I am hanging on every word you're saying

Even if you don't wanna speak tonight

That's alright, alright with me

Cause I want nothing more than to sit outside of your door

And listen to you breathing

It’s where I wanna be, yeah

Oh I don't want a thing from you

Bet you're tired of me waiting for

The scraps to fall off of your table to the ground

La da da da...

Cause I just wanna be here now

Cause I am hanging on every word you're saying

Even if you don't wanna speak tonight

That's alright, alright with me

Cause I want nothing more than to sit outside heaven's door

And listen to you breathing

It’s where I wanna be, yeah

Where I wanna be

Cause I am hanging on every word you're saying

Even if you don't wanna speak tonight

That's alright, alright with me

Cause I want nothing more than to sit outside heaven's door

And listen to you breathing

It’s where I wanna be, yeah

Where I wanna be

~~~~
“We’ve had a great time sharing Valentine’s Day with all of you,” Elizabeth said.
“Let’s give one more round of applause to Alicia Keys, Lifehouse, and the Backstreet Boys,” Carson Daly. “And now to end tonight’s show, here’s Elizabeth singing a new one called Show Me Heaven.”
There you go
Flashing fever from your eyes
Hey baby, come over here and shut them tight
I’m not denying, we’re flying above it all
Hold my hand, don’t let me fall
You’ve such amazing grace
I’ve never felt this way
Oh, show me heaven
Cover me
Leave me breathless
Oh, show me heaven please
Here I go
I’m shaking just like the breeze
Hey baby, I need your hand to steady me
I’m not denying, I’m frightened as much as you
Though I’m barely touching you
I’ve shivers down my spine
And it feels divine
Oh, show me heaven
Cover me
Leave me breathless
Oh, show me heaven please
Do you know what it’s like
To dream a dream
Baby hold me tight
And let this be
Oh, show me heaven
Cover me
Leave me breathless
Oh, show me heaven please
Oh, show me heaven
Cover me
Leave me breathless
Oh, show me heaven please
Elizabeth smiled as the crowd applauded and cheered. She bowed and walked off stage to greet Jason. The credits rolled as he smiled and pulled her into his arms. She pulled him down for a kiss as the screen faded.
“Happy Valentine’s Day,” she whispered before kissing him again.
Chapter 5
A month later…
“Are you sure you’re going to be alright?” Jason asked for the thousandth time as he packed his bag.
“I’ll be fine,” Elizabeth replied. “You said yourself that you and Sonny would only be gone for a few days. I have plenty to keep my occupied with all the work I have to do for the Pearl Harbor soundtrack.”
“Alright,” Jason said. “But just so that I don’t go crazy while I’m gone, and since Sonny’s going too, could you at least stay in the penthouse with Carly and Michael?”
“You are crazy,” Elizabeth said. “But if it’ll give you piece of mind, I’ll stay at the penthouse with Carly and Michael.”
“Thank you,” Jason said.
******
Two days later, Sonny and Jason were preparing for their meeting with Sorel in Puerto Rico.
“So we’re meeting at the casino?” Jason asked.
“Yes,” Sonny said. “Why he would call for a meeting and then want it on our territory is beyond me, but if it’ll end this, I don’t care.”
“That does seem a little strange,” Jason said.
******
Meanwhile, back in Port Charles…
“So did Jason tell you where he and Sonny were going?” Carly asked.
“No,” Elizabeth said. “Not that I’m surprised.”
Carly and Elizabeth were turning the corner in Wyndam’s, doing more shopping for the baby.
“Max,” Elizabeth said when she saw their bodyguard sitting next to their other bags. “Hey Max, wake up.”
Before they knew what was happening, Elizabeth and Carly’s mouths were covered and they were being walked out of Wyndam’s, both with a gun at their backs.
******
“What would make you think that we’d give you our territory so easily?” Sonny asked.
“I had to find just the right leverage,” Sorel said.
“Sonny,” Carly’s soft voice was heard over the speakerphone.
“Carly?” Sonny asked.
“Like I said Corinthos, just the right leverage,” Sorel said. “Your wife and son must be important to you. And Morgan, your unborn child. We wouldn’t want you to share the same fate as Sonny and his precious Lily and their unborn son, would we?”
“You bastard,” Jason said.
“I’d choose your words very wisely Morgan,” Sorel said looking at the phone.
“Jason, what’s going on?” Elizabeth asked softly.
Jason’s breath was caught in his throat. He had promised Elizabeth that he wouldn’t let anything happen to her or their baby, and he had failed.
“Everything’s going to be okay, baby,” Jason said soothingly.
Sorel disconnected the call and looked at Sonny and Jason.
“So do we have a deal?” Sorel asked.
“You seem to forget on thing,” Sonny said.
“I have both your wives and your children,” Sorel said. “What could I possibly be forgetting?”
“You’re on my territory,” Sonny said as Johnny held a gun to Sorel’s head. Sonny nodded his head and Francis and Adam grabbed Sorel and dragged him out of the backroom of the casino. “Take care of the trash.”
“Sonny we have to get back to Port Charles,” Jason said nervously.
“I know,” Sonny said. “We’ll get them back Jason.”
******
Meanwhile, Sorel’s men holding Elizabeth, Carly, and Michael in Port Charles were unaware of the untimely death of their boss.
“Elizabeth, what are we going to do?” Carly asked as Michael fussed that he was hungry.
“Jason said that everything will be okay and I believe him,” Elizabeth said. “We’ll get out of this.”
******
Sonny and Jason had returned to Port Charles with Johnny and Francis and went immediately to the safe house, where Max was recovering from a concussion.
“So can you tell me what happened at Wyndam’s yesterday?” Sonny asked.
“Mrs. Morgan and Mrs. Corinthos were shopping for more baby items with Michael,” Max said. “I had set their bags down by a rack and waited while they looked around. The next thing I remember, Rick ran in having seen Mrs. Morgan, Mrs. Corinthos, and Michael being driven away in another car. I came to and we tried to track the car, but they were gone.”
“There’s been no trace of them since?” Sonny asked.
“Not a sound,” Max said. “No major production or demand. Nothing.”
“Okay,” Sonny said. “Sorel’s gone. We took care of him in Puerto Rico. Now all we have to do is find Elizabeth, Carly, and Michael.”
“Easier said than done,” Jason said coming in the room. “His warehouse is clean.”
“What about his secondary?” Sonny asked.
“We haven’t gotten near it,” Jason said. “But that would have been too easy for us. There’s been no movement from any of his men. Where else might he have used?”
“I’ll get Benny on it right away,” Sonny said. “In the meantime, Max, you get some rest. Jason, why don’t you keep digging? With Sorel gone, something’s bound to turn up.”
“I’m on it,” Jason said.
“Mr. Corinthos,” Max said as Jason and Sonny were leaving. “I’m sorry.”
“It wasn’t your fault Max,” Sonny said. “Everything will be fine.”
******
“You can’t just keep us here,” Elizabeth said. “You can at least give us some God damn food.”
“I’m assuming that’s your hormones talking, so I’m gonna let the bitchy attitude slide,” Sorel’s man said. “But watch yourself, next time I may not be so nice.”
Elizabeth snorted as the door slammed and the majority of the light was taken.
“Elizabeth, we’ve got to get out of here,” Carly said.
“I know, I know,” Elizabeth said looking around the room. She spotted a small window that would open to what appeared to be a portion of the docks. “There are people outside.”
“What?” Carly said.
“There’s people outside, walking on the docks,” Elizabeth said.
“Oh my God!” Carly exclaimed. “Can this be opened?”
“I don’t know, but it’s our best shot,” Elizabeth said. “Michael, honey, come here a minute.”
Carly and Elizabeth lifted Michael up and instructed him to try to push the window open.
“It open, Mommy,” Michael said.
“Good, good boy,” Elizabeth said as they set Michael on his feet. “Now here’s what I want you to do. Do you see people walking by?”
“Mm hmm,” Michael said nodding.
“Okay, Mommy and I are going to give you a boost up there and you need to give them Daddy or Uncle Jason’s telephone numbers. Do you know them?” Elizabeth asked.
Michael nodded enthusiastically and Elizabeth smiled.
“Good,” Elizabeth said. “Tell them to call and give the exact address and that Mommy and Aunt Elizabeth are with you. Okay honey?”
Michael again nodded and Carly and Elizabeth raised him up to be level with the tiny window.
******
“Jason, your phone is ringing,” Johnny said.
“Morgan,” Jason answered.
“Is this Jason Morgan’s telephone?” a voice asked.
“Yes,” Jason answered slowly. “Who wants to know?”
“My name is Jamie Patterson,” she replied. “My boyfriend and I were just taking a walk when a little redheaded boy approached us. He gave us your number and a number for a Sonny Corinthos, but that line was busy. He said that his name was Michael and that he was with his Mom and Aunt Elizabeth and that you needed to come get them.”
“Where were you exactly?” Jason asked.
“On the docks, about 500 feet from Bannister’s Wharf,” she said. “And the little boy slipped back through a tiny window. I really hope that helps, he was just so adorable.”
“Yes it does,” Jason said. “You have no idea how much. If you could stay there, my partner and I would like to thank you in person when we finish.”
“Of course,” she said. “And I hope you can do whatever it is that you’re trying to do.”
“Thank you,” Jason said before hanging up. “Sonny, we got ‘em.”
Chapter 6
Jason, Sonny, Johnny, Francis, and Max arrived on the docks moments after Jason had spoken to Jamie.
“That’s it,” Jason said, pointing to the window.
“Great, now how do we get inside?” Sonny asked.
“Corinthos,” a snide voice said from behind them.
“Haven’t you learned by now that you’ll never win Sorel?” Sonny asked. “Only cowards go after women and children. Is this how you have to face me?”
“Enough of this,” Sorel said, voice booming.
Gunfire surrounded all of them.
~~~~

“Oh my God!” Carly exclaimed. “Do you hear that?”

“They’re here,” Elizabeth said.

“And they’re getting shot at,” Carly said covering Michael’s ears.

“You don’t know that,” Elizabeth said.

~~~~
When the smoke cleared, Sorel’s men had either ran or been killed. A bullet had caught the sleeve of Jason’s jacket and another had nicked Max’s shoulder, but overall their side had made it out okay. Sorel was lying a few feet from them in a pool of his blood, dying slowly. Jason was standing over him and Johnny, Francis, and Max looked at Sonny.
“He has to,” Sonny said. “Sorel almost took something precious to him. Jason won’t let him live any longer than he has to.”
Johnny nodded as a single shot was fired, piercing Sorel’s heart, and killing him instantly. Jason took one last look at his fallen enemy and walked back to his friends, tucking the gun in his jeans.
~~~~

The gunfire had since stopped and Carly and Elizabeth weren’t sure whether to be relieved or worried. They knew that relief wouldn’t come until someone on their side opened the door. Being seven and a half months pregnant, Elizabeth had once again let her emotions get the best of her and was huddled in a corner tears streaming down her face. Carly was trying to stay calm for Michael’s sake. Both were lost in their own thoughts of what would happen if they didn’t make it out alive or if they did and Sonny or Jason didn’t. The sound of the door hitting the wall pulled them both back to reality.

“Elizabeth,” Jason said softly, his eyes falling on his wife.

Elizabeth saw him, but she didn’t know if he was real and wouldn’t believe that he was.

“Carly,” Sonny said walking over to her. He knelt next to her and pulled her and Michael into his arms.

Johnny, Francis, and Max smiled as their bosses reunited with their families.

“Elizabeth, honey, it’s me,” Jason said.

“Jason?” Elizabeth said softly.

When she finally looked at him, Jason could see the fear in her eyes.

“It’s over now. Everything’s okay,” Jason said.

“Promise me you’re really here,” Elizabeth said.

“I’m really here,” Jason said.

He cupped her face in his hands and kissed her lips gently. And Elizabeth knew then that he was real. He was standing in front of her and everything was going to be okay. She threw her arms around him, never wanting to let him go.

“Let’s go home,” Sonny said holding Michael against his hip and an arm across Carly’s shoulder.

Jason stood up and offered his hand to help Elizabeth off the floor. When she was standing, she hugged Jason again and took his hand. They all walked out and onto the docks where the sun was shining brightly.

“It’s a beautiful day,” Elizabeth said.

“So Michael, you appear to be the hero here,” Jason said rubbing the little boy’s head.

Michael smiled widely and looked at Elizabeth.

“Auntie Lizabeth told me what to do,” Michael said.

“And you did a great job, Michael,” Elizabeth said.

“Excuse me,” Jason said to a young woman standing by Bannister’s Wharf. “Are you Jamie Patterson?”

“I am,” Jamie said turning around.

“I’m Jason Morgan and this is my partner, Sonny Corinthos,” Jason said.

“And Michael,” Jamie said. “It’s nice to see you again.”

“Hello,” Michael said.

“We just wanted to thank you for calling us,” Jason said. “You have no idea what that meant for us.”

“I’m glad I could help, whatever I did,” Jamie said.

It was then that she noticed Elizabeth standing next to Jason.

“Oh my God,” Jamie said with a smile. “You’re Elizabeth, the singer.”

“It’s nice to meet you,” Elizabeth said shaking her hand. “I also thank you.”

“I am such a big fan,” Jamie said. “I’ve missed you since you took a break.”

“Thank you,” Elizabeth said. “It’s nice to know my fans will be looking for me when I come on the scene again.”

“Oh will it be soon?” Jamie asked.

“I can’t tell you much, but I will be back soon,” Elizabeth said.

“It’s so great to meet you,” Jamie said. “Could I, could I get an autograph?”

“Sure,” Elizabeth said. “But I could do you one better. For what you did for me, my baby, and my family, I will be forever grateful. Why don’t I give you an autograph now and you give me your address. When I get details on my first performance, I’ll send you passes, I’d love for you to be there.”

“Really?” Jamie squealed. “That would be great!”

“Good,” Elizabeth said. “We really should be getting home, but thank you again.”

“You’re welcome,” Jamie said. “And thank you.”

******

Later that night…

Elizabeth was sitting up in bed fussing over her song lyrics again.

“I’m just never going to finish this in time,” Elizabeth said.

“What’s the matter?” Jason asked.

He walked out of the bathroom connected to the bedroom and crawled onto bed beside her.

“I’ve watched Pearl Harbor so many times and I’m just stuck on finishing the song,” Elizabeth said.

“You’ll finish it,” Jason said. “You always do. I know it’ll come to you. Can I see what you have so far?”

“Not yet,” Elizabeth said. “I don’t want anyone to see it until the first performance.”

“Alright,” Jason said. “Just know that I believe in you. I know you’ll do great.”

“Thank you,” Elizabeth said. “And thank you for coming to get me today. I never doubted you would, but I got a little scared for a minute.”

“So did I,” Jason said. “I thought I’d lost you and the baby. If anything ever happened to you, I’d never forgive myself.”

“But it won’t because Sorel’s gone now,” Elizabeth said. “It’s over.”

“I love you,” Jason said kissing her.

“I love you too,” Elizabeth said.

“And I love you,” Jason said lowering himself to kiss her belly.

“She loves when you do that,” Elizabeth said.

“How do you know it’s a girl?” Jason asked.

“Just a feeling,” Elizabeth said.

“Daddy’s little girl,” Jason said.

“Exactly,” Elizabeth said.

“Good night baby,” Jason said kissing his wife once more.

“Good night Jase,” Elizabeth said.

Chapter 7

Five weeks later…

Elizabeth and Jason were five minutes from landing in Port Charles after flying to Pearl Harbor so that Elizabeth could shoot the video for the song she’d written for Pearl Harbor.

Flashback…

“Okay Elizabeth, are you sure you’re up for this?” Jerry Bruckheimer asked.

“I’m fine,” Elizabeth said. “I’m having a baby not dying.”

“I know,” Jerry said. “I just want to make sure you’re feeling okay.”

“Thank you,” Elizabeth said.

“Ben, Josh, I’m glad you made it,” Jerry said. “This is Elizabeth Morgan.”

“It’s nice to meet you,” Ben said. “And congratulations on the baby.”

“Thank you,” Elizabeth said.

“Where’s your husband?” Josh asked.

“He’s back at the hotel taking care of some business,” Elizabeth said.

“That’s a shame, I really wanted to meet him,” Jerry said.

“You will,” Elizabeth said. “We’ll be back for the premiere. I promise you’ll meet him then.”

“Okay,” Jerry said. “So why don’t we get started.”

*****

“How’d the filming go?” Jason asked.

“It was so much fun,” Elizabeth said. “I haven’t done it in so long. I didn’t realize how much I missed it.”

“Do you regret anything about what you’ve done lately?” Jason asked.

“No,” Elizabeth said touching his face. “No. I am so happy about our getting married and having a family. I’ll go back to performing soon. This is enough for me. I have everything I’ve ever wanted.”

“Are you sure?” Jason asked.

“I love you Jason,” Elizabeth said. “I don’t need anything else.”

End flashback

“Mr. Morgan, preparing to land,” the co-pilot said.

“Thank you,” Jason said.

“Um Jason?” Elizabeth said her face curling into an unusual position.

“What’s wrong?” Jason asked.

“My water just broke,” Elizabeth said.

“What?” Jason said turning around sharply to look at his wife.

“I’m in labor,” Elizabeth said.

“Are you sure?” Jason asked.

“Yes!” Elizabeth screamed as she was hit with a sudden contraction.

“Shouldn’t you have had those before your water broke?” Jason asked.

“I’ve never done this before. You think I know?!” Elizabeth yelled.

“Sorry,” Jason said helping her sit on the couch. “I have to call Sonny or tell the pilot or something.”

Elizabeth nodded but refused to let go of his hand.

“Max!” Jason yelled. “Tell the pilot that Elizabeth’s in labor and get me my cell phone.”

“Where’s your phone?” Max asked.

“In my jacket,” Jason said. “Hurry up!”

Max shook his head walking out of the cockpit and reaching in Jason’s pocket to get his phone. Jason was acting just like a nervous father-to-be, just like Sonny when Michael was born.

“Sonny,” Jason said yelling frantically into the phone.

“Wow, Jase, turn the volume down on your voice,” Sonny said. “What’s going on?”

“Jason, it hurts,” Elizabeth screamed, squeezing Jason’s hand.

“Shit, not as much as you squeezing my hand! Let go,” Jason said.

“Put Max on the phone,” Sonny said.

“Talk to him,” Jason said tossing the phone to Max.

“Hello?” Max said.

“Max what the hell is going on up there?” Sonny asked. “I can see you landing, but nothing seems wrong.”

“Mrs. Morgan’s in labor,” Max said.

“What?!” Sonny exclaimed.

“Sonny, what’s going on?” Carly said nervously.

“Just a minute Max,” Sonny said turning to his wife. “Elizabeth is in labor.”

“Oh God,” Carly said.

“Okay Max,” Sonny said. “How long until you land?”

“Two, three minutes,” Max replied.

“Okay,” Sonny said. “We’ll just have to floor it all the way to GH.”

“You think she’s got time for that?” Max asked.

“How far apart are her contractions?” Sonny asked.

“I have no idea,” Max said.

“Ask Jason,” Sonny said.

“Jason how far apart are her contractions?” Max asked.

“She’s only had one and that was less than five minutes ago,” Jason said.

“Jason said she’s only had one and it hasn’t been five minutes,” Max reiterated.

“That’s good,” Sonny said. “That means we’ve got time.”

“Okay,” Max said. “Should I call the hospital?”

“No, I’ll do it,” Sonny said. “Call me if anything changes.”

“I will,” Max said as Elizabeth screamed through her second contraction in the background.

~~~~
“General Hospital, Bobbie speaking,” the voice on the other line said.
“Bobbie thank God,” Sonny said.
“Sonny is that you? What’s going on? Is something wrong?” Bobbie asked.
“It’s Elizabeth,” Sonny said. “She and Jason are landing at the Port Charles airport on my plane now. She’s in labor.”
“Can you get her here?” Bobbie asked.
“Yes. Max and Jason are putting her in the limo now,” Sonny said. “We’re on our way.”
“We’ll be waiting for you,” Bobbie said. “If her contractions come faster or if she starts crowning, call me back. You may have to deliver.”
“Just pray that doesn’t happen,” Sonny said. “We’ll be there in two minutes.”
Chapter 8
“Honey I know it hurts, but let go,” Jason said as Elizabeth squeezed his hand tighter.
“Johnny how much further to GH?” Sonny asked.
“About five minutes,” Johnny said.
“Sonny her contractions are getting closer together,” Carly said. “I don’t think she has five minutes.”
“Johnny if you don’t get this limo to GH and get me some drugs, I swear I’m going to…” Elizabeth seethed through her teeth.
“Breathe honey breathe,” Jason said trying to keep her focused.
“Don’t you start,” Elizabeth said. “Damn it! Get this kid out of me!”
“We’re almost there, Bella. You’re doing fine,” Sonny said.
“Um Sonny or Carly or anyone who knows anything about having kids?” Jason said. “What is that?”
“She’s crowning,” Carly said. “This baby is coming now.”
“We’re pulling into the emergency area,” Johnny said.
“She may not make it inside,” Carly said. “Is somebody out there waiting?”
“Call your mom,” Sonny said handing her the phone. “Okay Bella, keep breathing, but don’t push.”
“I have to push,” Elizabeth said.
“No, no. No you don’t,” Sonny said. “You can’t push yet. Soon, but not right now.”
~~~~

“Get her on that stretcher,” Bobbie said as Jason and Max walked Elizabeth in. “Who’s her GYN?”

“Dr. Wexler,” Jason said.

“Okay, let’s get her to Delivery,” Bobbie said. “Karen is upstairs waiting.”

“Momma, I think I see a head,” Carly said.

“Forget Delivery, we don’t have time,” Bobbie said. “Bring her to Curtain 4 and I’ll get a doctor.”

“Jason!” Elizabeth shrieked. “It hurts.”

“I know it hurts baby, but you’re doing great,” Jason said. “And it’s almost over. Hang in there just a little longer.”

“Alan, is there a GYN down here?” Bobbie asked running around the ER.

“No,” Alan replied. “What’s going on?”

“Your daughter in law is in labor,” Bobbie said. “She’s moving along so quickly that we didn’t have time to get her to Delivery upstairs.”

“I’ll do it,” Alan said.

“Alan, I don’t…” Bobbie said.

“You just said we don’t have much time,” Alan said. “I’ve delivered before, I can do it again.”

“Curtain 4,” Bobbie said. “I’ll have Dr. Wexler come down.”

“No we can bring Elizabeth up after the baby’s born,” Alan said.

Another scream from Curtain 4 had both Bobbie and Alan running inside.

“Whether or not she pushes this baby is coming,” Carly said.

“I know honey,” Bobbie said. “Dr. Quartermaine is going to deliver.”

Elizabeth nodded at Alan and Jason just looked at the man he had once called his father.

“I’ll take good care of her Jason,” Alan said.

“I know you will,” Jason said. “I trust you.”

“Thank you,” Alan replied.

Jason nodded and turned his attention back to Elizabeth. Alan smiled slightly and prepared to deliver Elizabeth’s baby.

“She’s been dilated at 10 for a few minutes now, she has to push now Dr. Quartermaine,” another nurse said.

“Okay,” Alan said. “Elizabeth are you ready? You’re going to push now.”

Elizabeth shook her head and Jason took her hand.

“On three we’re going to push. Ready? One, two, three, push,” Alan said. “Good girl.”

“You’re doing great baby,” Jason said. “How is everything looking?”

“Everything is looking great,” Alan replied. “Breathe for a minute and then one more big push.”

“Ready?” Jason said as he braced for her to squeeze his hand. “Last push. This is it.”

“One, two, three,” Alan said. “Good, good, keep pushing.”

A baby’s cry pierced the hospital room’s thick air and Elizabeth took a breath of relief that it was over.

“It’s a girl,” Alan said trying to keep himself from becoming overcome with emotion. “It’s a beautiful baby girl.”

“We have a daughter,” Jason said kissing Elizabeth’s head. “We have a little girl.”

Bobbie and the other nurse cleaned the baby up and wrapped her in a pink blanket and placed the infant in Elizabeth’s awaiting arms.

“Jason she’s so little,” Elizabeth said with tears in her eyes.

“She’s perfect,” Jason said looking at his new baby girl.

“And she has your eyes. Clear blue and sparkling,” Elizabeth said.

“But she has your hair,” Jason said. “Brown ringlet curls.”

“So what are we going to name her?” Elizabeth asked. “I figured we would talk about it when we got back from LA, but there wasn’t much time for that.”

“I’m sure we’ll come up with the perfect name soon,” Jason said.

~~~~
Sonny nervously paced the hall, waiting for news on Elizabeth and the baby.
“Sonny stop that,” Carly said. “It’s driving me crazy.”
“I’m sorry sweetheart, but what is taking so long?” Sonny asked.
As if on cue, Jason came through the door.
“How is everything going?” Carly asked.
“Everything went perfectly,” Jason said. “We have a little girl, born at 4:53 PM on April 29. She’s so precious, 6 lbs. 4 oz., 21 in. Elizabeth is getting settled into a room and then you can come see them both. All of you.”
Sonny and Carly turned around to see Johnny, Emily, Max, Gia, Nikolas, Francis, and Larissa coming through the ER doors.
“Jason, how is Elizabeth?” Emily asked.
“She and the baby are both fine. You can come see them in a few minutes,” Jason said. “They were just cleaning the baby up and moving Elizabeth to a private room.”
“So do I have a niece or nephew?” Emily asked.
“You have a niece,” Jason said. “I have a daughter. And she’s perfect.”
Everyone smiled and Jason turned towards the hallway hoping to make a quick exit before he showed too many emotions.
Chapter 9
In Elizabeth’s room, she was holding her daughter when Jason came back in.
“Hey,” he said. “Everyone’s on their way in.”
“Who’s everyone?” Elizabeth asked as the door opened revealing Sonny, Carly, Johnny, Emily, Francis, Larissa, Nikolas, and Gia. Behind them were Alan and Monica.
“Hi,” they said.
“Hi,” Elizabeth said with a bright smile. “Alan I can’t thank you enough for what you did for me earlier. I don’t think I could have made it through without you.”
“I’m glad I was there,” Alan said kissing her cheek and looking at his granddaughter.
“So, what’s her name?” Sonny said.
“Um, Jason and I didn’t get that far,” Elizabeth said with a laugh. “Jason, come here a minute.”
Jason walked over to Elizabeth and leaned over so she could whisper in his ear. He stood up again and nodded with a smile on his face. Elizabeth handed him their daughter and Jason turned around.
“Sonny would you like to hold her?” Jason asked.
“Could I?” Sonny said.
“Of course,” Jason replied.
Jason carefully placed the infant in Sonny’s arms and Sonny’s face immediately brightened.
“She’s beautiful,” Sonny said. “You did good.”
“Hopefully you’ll think the same about her name,” Jason said.
“Do you have one?” Carly asked.
“Yes,” Elizabeth said. “We decided to name her after Dad because let’s face it, if it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here.”
Sonny smiled and Jason continued.
“And we took her middle name from the nickname that you call Elizabeth all the time,” Jason said.
“So what’s her name?” Emily asked with a laugh.
“What, can take the suspense?” Elizabeth said. “I’m just kidding. Her name is Mikayla Isabella.”
“It’s perfect,” Carly said.
“Thank you,” Jason said.
“Who’s next?” Sonny asked looking around the room.
“Alan, I think you should get to hold her,” Elizabeth said.
“Jason?” Alan asked.
Jason nodded and took Mikayla from Sonny’s arms and placed her in Alan’s. Alan held her for a few minutes until she started to fuss.
“I’ll take her,” Jason said.
He sat on the bed next to Elizabeth and rocked Mikayla gently until she stopped crying.
Everyone spent a little while longer with Jason, Elizabeth, and Mikayla before going their separate ways. Jason and Elizabeth promised to bring Mikayla by the Quartermaines so Lila, Edward, AJ, and everyone else could see her.
******
A few days later…
It had been about ten months since Mike’s death and Jason and Elizabeth decided that they should bring Mikayla so Mike could meet his namesake. It would also be the day the brought her to the Quartermaines.
“Did you put everything in the bag?” Elizabeth asked walking down the stairs in their penthouse.
“Diapers, bottles, wipes, a change of clothes, etc.,” Jason said. “Did I forget anything?”
“No that sounds good to me,” Elizabeth said.
“Okay,” Jason said.
He pulled his leather jacket on after closing the diaper bag and then took Mikayla from Elizabeth’s arms so she could put her jacket on. He held her while Elizabeth put Mikayla’s coat on her. It was a little cool for May.
Jason threw the diaper bag over his shoulder and Elizabeth shifted Mikayla in her arms. They walked out the door of their penthouse and locked the door behind them.
“Morning Johnny,” Elizabeth said.
“Good morning,” Johnny replied. “Are you taking Mikayla out today?”
“We’re going to go to the cemetery and then to the Quartermaines,” Elizabeth replied. “If Sonny asks tell him that we’ll be back later and of Matt comes by, I’m expecting him at 4 PM, if he’s earlier, just let him in.”
“You got it Elizabeth,” Johnny said.
“Thank you Johnny,” Elizabeth said.
“We’ll see you later,” Jason called as they walked towards the elevator.
~~~~

“Why is Matt coming?” Jason asked as they drove to the cemetery.

Pearl Harbor is released in two weeks and the premiere is next weekend,” Elizabeth said. “Matt and I have to figure out how the performance is going to work.”

“Oh that’s right, I almost forgot about that,” Jason said. “Where is the premiere?”

“Pearl Harbor,” Elizabeth replied.

“I know, but where?” Jason asked again.

“Pearl Harbor, Hawaii,” Elizabeth said. “It’s supposed to be huge, but I haven’t gotten all the details from Jerry yet.”

“Are we leaving Mikayla with someone?” Jason asked.

“Of course not,” Elizabeth said. “Everyone’s coming with us anyway. We’re taking Sonny’s plane so we won’t have a problem with Mikayla and flying.”

“Okay then,” Jason said as he stopped near Mike’s gravesite.

“You take the diaper bag and I’ll carry Mikayla in the carrier,” Elizabeth said.

Jason got out of the car and took the diaper bag from next to the car seat and Elizabeth lifted the carrier out of the base.

Jason closed and locked the car and took Elizabeth’s hand as they walked towards Mike’s grave. As they got closer, Elizabeth shifted uncomfortably and started walking slower. They hadn’t been to the cemetery since the funeral and it was a lot harder going back than Elizabeth had thought.

“Are you sure you want to do this?” Jason asked.

“We have to Jase. We’ve been away from here for far too long,” Elizabeth said.

“Okay,” Jason said squeezing her hand.

“Hi Daddy,” Elizabeth said when they reached Mike’s grave. “I’m sorry it’s been so long, but I brought someone to meet you. I have a daughter now. Her name is Mikayla. We named her after you. She’s so precious and so tiny still. She has brown hair and Jason’s blue eyes; she’s perfect. I miss you Daddy. Sonny does too, even though he won’t say it; he never says much in the way of how he’s feeling. I guess that’s all I really wanted to say. I love you Daddy.”

“You okay?” Jason asked.

“Yeah thanks,” Elizabeth said. “Can we go though? I don’t think I can handle being here for much longer.”

“Sure,” Jason said. “Grandmother’s probably waiting on us anyway. I know how much she wanted to see Mikayla.”

“We’d better get going then,” Elizabeth said with a smile.

Jason took Elizabeth’s hand again and they walked back to the car with Mikayla.
