Chapter 6 ~ "I Could Hold You 'Til Dark, and Taste You 'Til Dawn"
Elizabeth looked around the room again in amazement, then turned to Lucky
and circled his waist with her arms. "But how, Lucky? How did you do all of
this? When did you have time?"
He smiled. "I have a personal assistant now, remember?"
"Heather did this?"
He nodded. "It was her first assignment. In fact she was getting off
the elevator just as we were getting on, but of course, you didn't see her
because you were blindfolded."
"So that's why she had to leave the party early?"
He nodded. "Yea, I think she did a great job don't you? She was more
than happy to do this for us. I swear she almost cried when I told her what
I wanted her to do. She thought it was the most romantic thing she had ever
heard."
"You know, I thought she looked like she'd been crying when she said
goodbye to me."
"I think she's just a very emotional person. If so, she'll fit in well
with us, don't you think?"
Elizabeth laughed. "I think she already does fit in well with us. I
think we were really lucky to meet her."
"Me too, but you know what? Tonight is about you and me. Mostly you.
Come with me." He took her hand and led her to the window, wrapping his arms
around her from behind as they both stared out at the bustle of activity on
the street beneath the window. "I remember standing just this way with you
when we were here before, looking out at what we thought would be our
neighborhood, wishing we never had to go back home, wishing we could stay in
this room forever. I remember being really nervous about wanting to make
love to you, wondering if you were thinking the same thing. But I think I
was even more nervous because I knew that before I could ever make love to
you I needed to tell you about Tammy. I didn't want there to be any secrets
between us anymore." As she leaned her head against his shoulder, he nuzzled
his face into her neck and whispered, "I didn't deserve how well you took
that news."
Elizabeth laughed and pulled his arms tighter around her waist. "I
didn't take it so well at first you know. Inside I was a mess when you told
me. I wanted to run from the room as fast as I could, as far away from you
as I could. I remember wondering how I could have been so wrong about you.
But I was frozen where I was. I couldn't move and then you told me what
really happened and you looked so sad, thinking you had hurt me, afraid you
had really messed things up, and I felt so sorry for you, so I softened up a
bit. It took me a little while to let it all sink in, but in the end I was
okay with it."
"Wow, I never knew any of this that night."
"None of that matters anymore, Lucky. We've come so far since that
night." She turned around to look at him then, and put her arms around his
neck kissing him full on the lips. "It was such a long time ago."
"Sometimes it doesn't seem so long ago.. I just remember my heart being
so full that night after you didn't walk out on me. I was fully prepared for
that, you know? But I needed there to be total honesty between us, and if my
honesty had sent you away, then I would have had to live with it. I've
always been grateful that it went the other way. I don't know what I would
do without you." He returned her kiss, only more urgently, his tongue
dancing between her lips, pushing into her mouth, seeking her tongue.
Suddenly she pulled away from him a little. "What, what is it, Elizabeth?"
"Were you terribly disappointed that night, Lucky? I mean that we didn't
make love?"
"No, not at all." He looked at her and grinned. "Well, I guess I was a
little. I wanted you so badly, but I knew the time wasn't right for us." He
smiled, remembering. "Ah, but then you came down on the floor with me and I
thought I would die. It was extremely difficult for me to sleep with you
spooned behind me, your arms around me, feeling your breath in my ear.
You'll never know what that did to me, Elizabeth, how hard it was, literally,
for me to control myself. But I'm glad I did. I still think we were right
to wait, even if it took a lot longer to get there than we thought it would."
"I think it was the right thing to do, too. But I think we've more than
made up for lost time, baby, don't you?"
He pulled her closer, and whispered into her hair, "Mmmm, yes, I do, but
there is still so much more to make up for. I promised you that nght that
we'd come back here that summer and we didn't. We couldn't because I was
gone then. So tonight is about making up for broken promises." Her hands
played with the curls at the back of his head, as his mouth found hers,
kissing her gently. "I want to make up for that night, Elizabeth. I want to
give you what we weren't ready for then."
"Lucky...you've never broken a promise to me."
"Shhh....just let me love you." He traced his hands over her face,
rubbing his thumbs along her lips, then moved them downward to pull her into
an embrace. He leaned over and kissed each of her shoulders, his hands
pressed into the small of her back, plulling her as close to him as possible.
He stood back to admire her in the dress, his breath catching in his throat
as he remembered the encounter in the dressing room earlier that day. "God,
you look so beautiful in that dress. Do you have any idea what it does to me?"
She giggled. "Well, based on what happened in the dressing room, I think
I have an idea."
"I don''t think you can even begin to fathom what it does to me. Do you
think you could just wear it every day?"
She laughed. "No, not every day. But I'll wear it for you whenever you
want."
"I want you to wear it while I make love to you tonight. Because make no
mistake, I AM going to make love to you...the way I wanted to that night so
long ago."
"Oh...." Elizabeth felt her pulse quicken as Lucky picked her up and
carried her to the bed where he gently laid her down against the pillows and
among the rose petals. He sat on the bed beside her and picked up one of the
rose petals to trace over her shoulders and down her chest, lightly caressing
the skin between her breasts, just inside the dress, making her shiver. She
sat up just enough to push his jacket from his shoulders onto the floor, then
her hands fumbled with the buttons of his shirt.
He covered her hands with his. "You're shaking, baby. Are you okay?"
She nodded. "It's just that....I feel like we're back there, Lucky. I
feel just like I did that night, excited and nervous and scared all at the
same time."
"You make me feel that way all the time, even after all these years,
after all we've shared. I love you so much, Elizabeth. I don't ever want
you to doubt that, especially now when it looks like our lives are going to
get pretty crazy. That's why I wanted to do this for you, for us, tonight.
To recommit myself to you in the most sacred place I could think of for us.
This is where we really knew we were meant for each other, the place where we
passed the biggest test of our love."
Elizabeth finished unbuttoning his shirt and pushed it to the floor with
the jacket and lay back on the pillows pulling him down with her, her hands
on his face as she whispered. "Oh, Lucky, you are such a hopeless romantic
and I love you for it. Now, about these jeans...." She reached down and
felt the hardness beneath them and caressed him lightly through the fabric as
he let out a long, slow breath.
"God, what you do to me..."
"I think we need to get rid of these, don't you?"
"Oh, yes. And quickly." He raised up as Elizabeth unbuttoned and
unzipped his jeans, pushing them down over his hips.
"No underwear?"
"What can I say? Sometimes I AM my father's son."
"Lucky!"
"Well, it's true. My dad has never worn underwear. He says they're too
constricting."
She giggled. "Oh, that sounds so like Luke."
"Yea, my dad....he is quite the role model isn't he? Anyway, I knew you
weren't wearing any underwear tonight...." He reached up under the hem of
her dress, his hand resting on her mound, teasing as his fingers just grazed
the spot between her legs, thrilling at the heat and wetness he found already
there.. "At least, I was hoping you weren't."
She whispered, "I told you this dress I couldn't wear anything under this
dress. I'm glad I didn't disappoint you."
"Never, baby, never...." He sat up long enough to push his jeans off,
then knelt down between Elizabeth's legs, taking one leg gently in his hand
as he softly kissed her foot, the inside of her knee, trailing wet kisses all
the way up her inner leg. When he reached the inside of her thigh he kissed
and licked the moistness there and felt her move beneath him, trying to
position herself so that his mouth was where she needed him.
"Lucky...."
She tangled her hands in his hair as he looked up at her. "Is it okay?
Is this what you want?"
"Oh yes, please, " she said breathlessly. "Please, Lucky, now..."
He kissed and sucked on her aching flesh for several long agonizing
minutes until finally she felt his tongue descending on her in long, slow
strokes, driving her nearly insane. She always marvelled at his ability to
know just what to do to make her whole body tingle and cry out for more,
always more. He continued to assualt her senses, until she felt the
beginning of her release. Lucky sensed it and gently inserted two fingers
inside her, pushing them inside and continuing to lick her center, pressing
his mouth against her as she raised up to meet him, her body shuddering with
her release. It took her several minutes to come back to herself as Lucky
lay his head against her thigh, gently caressing her stomach. Finally she
reached down and took his hand, pulling her to him, kissing him deeply on the
mouth. "That was nice, baby. Very nice." She reached down to take his
hardness in her hand. "Now it's your turn."
He shook his head as he covered her hand with his, pulling it away from
his throbbing erection. "No. I told you, tonight is for you. All for you.
I get to do all the work. Besides, I get the most pleasure from giving you
pleasure. I guess that's kind of selfish in a way."
"No, not selfish. It's very sweet. But I want to make you feel good,
too."
"I know what you can do for me."
"Anything. Your wish is my command."
He pulled several pillows out from under her and threw them onto the
floor beside the bed.
"Lucky, what are you doing?"
"Come here..." He pulled her with him down on the floor so she was lying
on top of him, and pulled her close to him. "You're fulfilling one of my
most frequent fantasies since that night. I used to drive myself crazy
thinking about what it would have been like to make love to you on this
floor, where we slept, or rather where you may have slept. I didn't get a
minute of sleep that night." He smiled as he pushed the straps from her
dress and kissed each shoulder, then pushed the dress down just enough to
reveal one breast, which he cupped gently in his hand as he took the nipple
in his mouth, circling it with his tongue, gently sucking and biting it.
Finally Elizabeth raised up just enough to straddle Lucky, sliding
herself over his erection until he moaned with pleasure against her mouth.
"God, that feels so good. So good, Elizabeth..."
She lifted her hips and slowly lowered herself on him. For a long moment
they merely stared deeply into each other's eyes, as she rocked slowly and
gently on top of him. Finally he took both her hands in his, their fingers
entwining as he gently rolled her over onto the pillows. He pushed their
hands up over her head, and held them against the pillows as he moved slowly,
then more urgently inside her, kissing her as his strokes became faster. And
only when he was sure that she was sated, when her breathing returned to
normal, did he allow himself his own release. As he felt himself calming,
he reached down and gathered a handful of rose petals in each hand and
showered her with them, smiling.
Elizabeth felt tears welling in her eyes, as she placed her hands on his
face. "Thank you, Lucky, for this, for loving me. This has been the most
incredible night of my life."
"I love you, Elizabeth, and I plan to give you many more incredible
nights like this, better than this."
"I love you, too, Lucky. More than you'll ever know."
He leaned down and kissed her on the lips before laying down beside her,
covering them with the blanket and turning his back to her and pulling her
arms around him. She snuggled against him, her naked breasts pressed against
his back, and they fell asleep on the floor, in the same position they had
slept all those years ago.

Luke stood in the doorway of the bedroom, leaning against the frame, his
arms folded across his chest as he watched Laura brushing her hair in front
of her vanity. She hadn't heard him coming up the stairs and he savored the
few moments he could silently observe her. God, I love this woman, he
thought as he watched her bend over and brush her hair, then flip it back as
she sat down on the bench.
"Hey, darlin'", he whispered.
She turned to him, smiling. "Hey, yourself. It's late."
"I had a few fires to put out at the club." He straigtened then and
unbuttoned and untucked his shirt as he approached her. He straddled the
bench beside her and gently took the hair brush from her hand. "Let me."
She turned her back to him and he began to slowly brush her hair with one
hand, and sift it through his fingers with the other. He lifted a handful to
his face, breathing in the scent of her hair. "Have I ever told you how much
I love your hair?"
She laughed. "Oh, just about every day."
"Well, it's true. I love what you can do to me with that hair, too,
baby."
"Well, I guess we'll just have to see what we can do about that tonight."
Luke laid the brush on the vanity and wrapped his arms around Laura,
pulling her close to him so that her leg was against his growing erection,
nuzzling his face in her neck. Finally he looked at her in the mirror. "Our
boy's gonna be rock and roll star."
Laura turned to him then, asking, "He signed the contract?"
"It looks that way. I finally got a chance to listen to my messages just
before I came home and he left one earlier that said, 'Hey, Dad, I hope
you're in to booking big name acts, cause I am NOT giving up playing at
Luke's'. Then he laughed and said he would explain evertyhing when he sees
us tomorrow."
"Oh, Luke. I'm so proud of him."
"Me, too. I just hope this is what he really wants."
"And I hope it doesn't put a strain on his relationship with Elizabeth.
Those two have been through too much to ruin things now."
"Oh, I wouldn't worry about them, Laura. They're solid. As solid as we
are. Besides we've weathered a lot of storms ourselves and look where we are
today."
She smiled. "It is kind of amazing, isn't it?"
"I thank God for it everyday. You still make me feel like a teenager,
baby"
"Oh, Luke, you ARE still a teenager."
He gave her an evil grin. "Come on, darlin', let's make out like we're
still teenagers."
Laura laughed and put her arms around his neck, pulling her to him as he
began to kiss her. His hand reached inside the robe she was wearing and he
cupped her breast, squeezing and teasing her nipple as he did. Finally, he
slowly traced his hand down her stomach and reached between her legs.
"Already wet for me. Mmmm, I love it when that happens."
"Always wet for you, Luke, you know that." She stood up then and took
his hand. "Now, come with me and let me show you what I have planned for you
tonight."
He laughed, his deep, rich, roaring, laugh and said, "God, how I love an
aggressive woman," as he let her lead him to the bed, and very slowly and
seductively removed his shirt and then his jeans and pushed him back on the
bed. She removed her robe, standing naked before him for a moment and
letting him admire her body, before she climbed on the bed and straddled him.
She rested her hands on his upper thighs and leaned over him, using her hair
to gently caress his face, then his chest and stomach and finally his
throbbing erection.
"I think this is what you've been waiting for..." She took him in her
hand gently, entwining some of her hair in her hand as she slowly stroked
him. Her eyes met his and he let out a low, soft moan. Finally she licked
just his tip slowly, knowing she was driving him crazy. When she thought he
could no longer take it, she took him in her mouth, sliding her mouth up and
down the length of him, slowly at first, then with more urgency, with some of
her hair still wrapped around him..
His hips raised up to match her rhythm. "Oh, baby. God, you're trying
to kill me, aren't you?"
Laura increased the motion of her mouth and tongue on him and his moans
told her when he was ready to come. At that moment, she pulled her mouth
away and continued to stroke him, faster, with more urgency until he spilled
his seed on her lips, on her face, in her hair. After his breathing calmed
down, he pulled her up to him and laid her head on his shoulder, stroking her
hair over and over. Finally he looked down at her to meet her gaze and
leaned down to kiss her gently on the lips.
"Do you ever miss the old days, Laura?"
She looked at him quizzically. "What brought this up?"
"Thinking about Lucky, and how he really does have a touch of the
wanderlust in him. Guess he comes by that honestly enough doesn't he?"
She smiled. "How could he not. And yes, I miss those days sometimes. I
miss the way we were then. Living on love and trust and not much else. I
mean, I still live on those things. They'll never go away. But I feel more
settled now, and I love the way we are now even moer. But I worry about
Lucky just getting started out there, still trying to find his way."
"Baby, he's a lot more mature than we were at his age. He'll be fine.
And I guarantee you, if he realizes this isn't what he wanted, he'll get out
of it."
"I know you're right, but I'm going to miss him. We won't be seeing him
as much and I'm not sure I'm ready for that."
"So we'll just go see him as often as possible. I promise you I won't
let you miss Lucky too much." Luke rolled over and and positioned himself on
top of her, moving slowly against her. "Now, why don't you let me show you
just how much I love you and pay you back for that wonderful performance of
yours."
In an expensive New York penthouse, Julie Powell sat in the chair
overlooking the city, absentmindedly playing with the pearls she wore around
her neck, the ones she never removed, thinking about Lucky Spencer.
Beautiful, sensuous, desireable Lucky Spencer. She had a plan, one that she
shared with no one. She meant to have him one day, and nothing would stop
her. Nothing and no one would get in the way of her possessing him as her
very own. And if her plan worked, if nothing went wrong, he would never know
what hit him, would never realize that it was she who was the marionnette
pulling all the strings that would lead him straight to her arms. Oh, life
was going to be sweet, and all the sweeter come Monday when she moved into
her new penthouse at the Harborview Towers in Port Charles.

~~"Bleak Sunrise"~~
"What??!!??" Luke Spencer bellowed, but did not look up from his desk when he heard the door to his office open.
"Having a bad day are you, dad?" Lucky laughed as he slumped down in the chair opposite Luke's desk.
Luke looked up at him and scowled. "They're all bad since you left me to be a rock and roll star."
Lucky winced at the term. "I'm a songwriter, remember. I'm just doing this to make some money, to help secure my future with Elizabeth, and to get my name out there as a songwriter. I have no interest in being a rock and roll star. It's certainly not my life's work. Besides, I've got a blues club to run."
"Well, I don't know how you're going to do that from out of town. Or who's going to do the books while you're gone."
"All is not lost, dad. I haven't completely abandoned my duties as club owner, even though everyone knows it's you who still runs the show. And that's fine with me. But I found someone to do the books. On the computer instead of that archaic way you like to do them."
"Hey, it worked for me for years, don't knock it."
"But it drives you crazy."
"Hey, crazy isn't always bad, you know, but I'm gettin' too old to tackle this headache every day. So, who is this hotshot you've found to do YOUR work?"
Lucky laughed and stood up, heading toward the door. When he opened it, Emily Quartermaine was standing outside, grinning.
Luke looked at her, confused. "What the...."
"Dad, meet your new bookkeeper."
"Emily? No offense, darlin', but do you even know what a computer is? Do they have those things in that big mansion of yours?"
Lucky closed the door and motioned for Emily to sit down, handing her a bottle of water from the portable bar. "Of course she knows what a computer is."
"I'll have you know I'm an ace computer expert. You're in good hands with me, Mr. Spencer."
"What's this Mr. Spencer stuff? You've always called me Luke."
She smiled. "Well, you're going to be my boss now, I have to be respectful."
"No, no, I'm not the boss anymore. Lucky's your boss. Please, Emily, we've known each other too long for you to call me Mr. Spencer." He shivered. "Makes me feel old."
Lucky laughed and took the folder Emily was holding in her hand and handed it to Luke. "Here, look, I gave Emily some work to do and she did a great job. I've already taught her everything. She's really a whiz. Should only take her a few hours a day to do the books. She's so good, you're gonna hope and pray I never come back."
"Well, now, I doubt that, son." He turned to Emily and smiled, "But I have to admit, it sure will be nice to have your beautiful face around here even if it is only for a few hours a day."
She stood up. "Great, then I'm hired?"
"I don't have any say in that anymore, that's Lucky's job. But if I did, yea, you'd be hired. Can you start today?"
"That's why I'm here."
"Good!!! Why don't you go on out to the bar and tell Claude to get you some lunch and then come back here and we'll shoot the shit, maybe knock back a couple of cold ones before you get started?"
Emily started laughing. "Man, I am going to LOVE working here!" She stood up and hugged Lucky, kissing him on the cheek. "Thanks, Lucky. I'll see you tonight."
After she was gone Luke turned to Lucky. "Thanks, son. I owe you big time."
"No problem, I knew Emily was the girl for the job. Besides she's going to get pretty lonely with Zander on the road with me. She needs something to keep her busy. So, you and Mom will be at the party tonight, right?"
"Hell yea, we'll be there. Lulu, too. Not that I'm relishing the thought of spending even a minute on Spoon Island, but for you, son, anything. Besides, I've warmed to that spawn of Vlad. He's proven himself worthy in the past few years. It's the Count I'm not looking forward to seeing."
"Well, I think Nikolas has invited just about everyone who lives in Port Charles, so hopefully there'll be enough people there and you won't even have to see him."
"Good, but if I do see him, I promise to behave" Luke grinned an evil grin. "Just for you."
Lucky smiled, not believing his father for a minute. "Thanks, dad, I appreciate that."
"Is Viper Woman going to be there?"
"That would be Julie?"
"Yea, Julie.
She's bad news, son. She's poison. I've known it since the first time I laid eyes on her."
"I can handle her."
Luke's expression was serious as he looked at Lucky, but he softened and smiled as he put his hand on his shoulder. "Of course you can. You're a Spencer. Just watch your back."
"Always. You think I don't remember everything you taught me?"
"Okay, okay. Just so we're on the same page about her."
Lucky nodded. "I'll check in with you later. I have a lunch date with Heather."
"Ah, Heather...now, she on the other hand, is a true gem among women."
Lucky laughed. "That she is. I trust her a lot. And she knows all about Julie. She's not about to let her get anything over on me."
"I hope not. I hope you don't get blinded by her power."
"Power doesn't impress me, dad, you know that. You need to stop worrying, everything will be fine." Lucky turned and headed for the door. "I need to get going. I'm meeting Heather in fifteen minutes. I'll see you tonight."
"Later, son. And thanks for Emily."
Elizabeth heard the water shut off in the shower and yelled into the bathroom. "Lucky, I need help zipping my dress. Can you come in here for a minute?"
Lucky smiled as he wrapped a towel around his waist and went into the bedroom. His breath caught in his throat when he saw Elizabeth. She was wearing a short, strapless, red lace dress. "Lord have mercy. Warn a guy why don't you?"
She turned around and smiled at him, approaching him slowly and seductively and turned her back to him to do the zipper. "So I take it you approve?"
"Approve would be an understatement. When did you buy this? I'm sure I've never seen it before."
"Just today. I wanted something really special for tonight. You only get one big going away party and I wanted to make sure it was a night you'd always remember."
"Oh, I'll remember it, all right." He wrapped his arms around her from behind without zipping the dress up and nuzzled her neck. "That is if we ever make it there."
"Lucky, we have to make it. Nikolas will kill us if we don't show up to your going away party."
"I know, I know, but what am I going to do about this little problem I have?"
She turned to face him and wrapped her arms around his neck, "I can think of lots of things to do with it, and I'll do all of them when we get home." She pressed herself against him, making him groan as his lips found hers, his tongue parting her lips.
"Baby, if we keep this up we won't ever get out of here." She turned her back to him again and lifted her hair. "Now do my zipper, please." He finished with the zipper and turned her back to face him as she said, "Besides, the sooner we leave, the sooner we can get back and have our proper farewell." Her face clouded suddenly and she frowned. "Farewell. God, how I hate that word."
"So do I, Elizabeth, so do I."
Lucky and Elizabeth were fashionably late to the pre-tour party to which, clearly, all of Port Charles had been invited. Somehow they got separated everyone greeted Lucky, from Sonny and Brenda, to Jason and Carly, the Quartermaines and his Aunt Bobbie and Roy. Everyone wanted to wish him well on his new venture. As Lucky was pulled in every direction at once, Elizabeth searched for Emily.
"Hey, Emily."
"Elizabeth, you look great. Love that dress."
"Thanks. So do you. Where's Zander?"
"Oh, he and Sonny are off getting in some male bonding before he leaves. Don't worry, I have big plans for him later on."
"I think we should have rethought the idea of having this party the night before they leave for Atlanta. I really would much rather be home alone with Lucky."
"I know, Zander and I were talking about that earlier. But we figured we'd stay until everyone's had enough to drink they won't notice if we leave. God, aren't we the morose pair tonight, knowing we have to say good-bye to our men tomorrow morning. It sucks, doesn't it?"
"I can tell you I'm not looking forward to it at all."
"I've never been away from Zander for this long, but hey, you and I will be flying off to surprise them, and often. I don't plan on giving Zander much time to miss me at all."
"I agree." Elizabeth looked past Emily and said, "Oh, lord, there's Julie. Let's go outside and see who's out there. She's one person I am not in the mood for tonight."
After an hour or more of mingling there was a formal sit down dinner served on tables set up outside in the gardens, complete with white tablecloths and fine china. Nikolas really had gone all out for this party and Lucky and Elizabeth surveyed the table in awe as everyone began to take their places. They were seated at the head table, with the other band members and their mates, and Luke, Laura and Lulu. When everyone was finally seated, Lucky remained standing to make a short speech. He smiled nervously as he looked out over the sea of faces. "First of all, I'm not real good at making speeches, so I'll make this short." Elizabeth knew how difficult this was for him. It was one thing to stand in front of a crowd and perform his music, but having to speak was a whole other thing for him. She reached out and took his hand, holding it between her two as he continued to speak. "I'd like to thank Nikolas for organizing this great party for our send off. My friends and I really appreciate it. And I'm trusting all of you to look after Elizabeth while I'm gone. Thanks to all of you for being here. We all appreciate it so much. Now, please, everyone eat. Have fun. And thanks."
Everyone clapped as he sat down and turned to Elizabeth and squeezed her hand as he whispered, "Thank you."
She smiled and gave him a quick kiss and then glanced at the food in front of them. "Lucky, look at all this food. Are you even hungry?"
He laughed. "No, not really. Well, not for food anyway. But let's not disappoint Nikolas. He went to a lot of trouble for us."
Luke and Laura were seated side by side at the table and Luke was enjoying his meal as he absentmindedly listened to Laura talking to Emily, who was seated on the other side of her. Lulu had been spirited away for the evening by Maxie and Georgie, and had long since left the table. Suddenly he gasped as he felt Laura's hand move up his leg, slowly, torturously. He looked around, but no one seemed to notice his outburst. Her hand finally found its target, and she slowly caressed him with it. Finally he grabbed her hand, but made no attempt to remove it, only pressed it into himself to try to get some relief. Laura continued to chat with Emily. Ah, so cool and calm in the face of unbearable lust. That's my Laura. Hiding it from everyone else, but I know you. I know what you want, what you need.
He cleared his throat before turning to her to say softly, "Um, Laura, darlin', I was wondering if you'd like to go for a walk? These gardens look mighty nice with all the spring flowers in bloom."
She turned slowly to look him in the eye and said in her most innocent voice. "Why Luke, I think that's a great idea. I'd like to see if anything new has come up since I was here last." As she said this she pressed her hand into him even more and he groaned silently.
"Oh, baby, I can almost guarantee that something new has come up." He looked around the table and smiled. "You all don't mind if my wife and I excuse ourselves do you? Lucky?"
"No, go on, dad. I know how much you hate to be confined."
As he stood up and took Laura's hand, he muttered under his breath, "Oh, if you only knew." They left the table and did not stop walking until they had reached one of the more secluded gardens by the river.
"Holy mother of God, woman. You were trying to give me a heart attack back there weren't you?
"Who me? I was just having some fun."
"Well, you've got me pretty worked up here....how about you...." He reached down and rested his hand between her legs, through her dress. "If I put my hand under here would you be wet and waiting for me?"
She sighed as she fell against him, "Oh, I think there's a pretty good chance of that."
Luke looked around briefly and quickly removed his jacket, spreading it on the ground, "I think this is a pretty secluded spot, what do you think, baby?"
She looked around and smiled, reaching up to kiss him as she said, "I think it will do just fine."
Jason Morgan approached Elizabeth as she headed toward the staircase. "Elizabeth?"
"Oh, hey, Jason. Isn't it a great party?"
He nodded. "Nikolas did a good job. A lot of people love Lucky and want to see him succeed. I suspect you're about ready to get out of here, though. Am I right?"
She laughed. "You know me too well. I was just going to go freshen my make-up before I find Lucky."
"Listen, you call me or Sonny if you need anything at all while Lucky's gone."
She reached up and kissed him on the cheek, "Thanks, Jason. I'll call you in a few days, okay?"
She made her way to the steps and found that Julie Powell was blocking her way. "Well, Elizabeth, don't you look..." She hesitated for a moment as she looked her up and down and seemed to be searching for the proper word..."wholesome, tonight."
Elizabeth said nothing, only glared at her for a long minute. Finally she spoke. "Nice to see you, too, Julie."
"Do you have a minute? I'd like to speak frankly if I may."
"You know what? I'm not really interested in anything you have to say tonight, or any other time for that matter. Now, please let me by."
Julie smiled, her usual insincere smile. "I just want you to know that you don't need to worry about Lucky while he's gone. There will be lots of people, lots of women who will be willing to take care of him and make sure he doesn't get lonesome. You know, the life of a rock and roll star is really so different from the life you're used to here in Port Charles, but Lucky is so worldly and I know he'll adapt quite well to it. But I think it would difficult for you to adapt, so I think it would be in your best interest to stay home, even if he asks you to travel with him sometimes."
Elizabeth glared at her. "I'm going to ask you one more time to get out of my way."
Julie stepped aside. "Suit yourself."
"Emily, sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt."
She and Zander reluctantly broke their kiss and she turned to Lucky. "It's okay. What's up? You look like you lost your best friend."
"Have you seen Elizabeth? I can't find her anywhere."
"I saw her upstairs a few minutes ago. We were commiserating for about the thousandth time tonight about how we aren't looking forward to tomorrow morning."
Zander put his arm around Emily and pulled her close. "I don't think any of us are. Listen, we're gonna take off, Lucky. I'll see you bright and early in the morning. Gotta love those 6:30 a.m. flights."
"No shit. As soon as I find Elizabeth wer're out of here too." He hugged Emily and shook Zander's hand. "I'll see you guys bright and early then." He left them alone and made his way through the crowd to find Elizabeth.
Heather Elliott watched from her chair in the living room as Julie Powell intercepted Lucky on his way up the stairs. She approached her from behind and said, "Lucky, do you have a minute?" Heather saw him close his eyes for a minute and slowly shake his head before turning to Julie.
"Not really, Julie. I need to find Elizabeth and get out of here. I'd like to have some time alone with her before I have to leave."
She touched his arm and let her hand linger, as she moved in closer to him, "It won't take long. I have some people I want you to meet."
"Will they be in Atlanta at the concert?"
"Well, yes, but...."
"Look, I don't mean to be rude, but tonight is my time with Elizabeth. Anything that has to do with business can wait until we get to Atlanta. Goodnight, Julie."
"But, Lucky...." She wrapped her hand around his arm more tightly as Heather walked up to them. "Jesus, Julie, give it a rest. Let him go."
Lucky disappeared up the stairs, leaving Julie to take a deep breath and curse the existence of Elizabeth Webber. Just give me time, Lucky Spencer, and you'll barely remember that annoying little nothing's name.
Although she hadn't said what she was thinking aloud, Heather turned to her and said, "Don't count on it, Julie."
Lucky searched the upstairs for a few minutes, before he found Elizabeth standing alone on the balcony off the upstairs library. He watched her for a few minutes, trying to memorize everything about her. God, I don't want to leave you. What the hell was I thinking? Finally he approached her and slipped his arms around her waist from behind. "I wondered where you were." He kissed her neck and buried his face in her hair. "I missed you."
Elizabeth turned around to face him. "I needed a few minutes by myself. I had a little run-in with Julie. I'm afraid I wasn't very nice to her. She and I are just destined to become enemies and I'm afraid she's going to take advantage of you."
"Jesus, what did she say?"
"Oh, it isn't so much what she says, it's what she implies. But I don't really want to get into it right now, Lucky. I don't want to think about her. I just want to concentrate on you right now."
"Well, I like the sound of that. And don't worry, I can handle Julie." He pulled her close and kissed her gently on the lips as her arms went around his neck. His kiss deepened and his tongue sought hers as Elizabeth laughed and ran her hand along the front of his jeans.
"I think we need to take care of this."
"Oh, no doubt about that. I don't know what I'm going to do about this when you're not around."
"Well, I guess you'll just have to take care of it yourself, won't you?"
Lucky laughed. "I guess I will, I mean I know I will but you know, baby, it's just not the same."
"I know, but maybe if you think about me doing the same thing it will help."
Lucky groaned against her mouth, "Oh, God, yes. I think that might help." He continued to kiss her as he pulled her dress up and caressed the inside of her thigh, teasing her, tormenting her until she cried out.
"Lucky..."
He continued to kiss her and when he finally pulled away he was breathing heavily. "Remember that night a few months ago outside the club? When we..."
"Oh, I remember."
"Well, this time, I don't think anyone will interrupt us. And it seems we have the added bonus that neither of us is wearing underwear."
Elizabeth giggled as their kisses became more urgent and their breathing more erratic. "What is it your father calls it...going 'commando'? I do so love it when you do that."
"Let's just say I like to be prepared." Elizabeth reached down to unbutton and unzip his jeans, purposely taking her time. "Baby, you're killing me." Finally she pushed the fabric away and took him in her hand, stroking him gently. As he continued to kiss her, he lifted her onto the wide railing of the terrace and slowly guided himself inside her. Her legs were around his waist and for a long time they stayed still, holding each other, until finally he could hold back no longer and began to move in and out of her, gradually increasing his speed.
Suddenly he heard someone calling his name from downstairs. Luke. "Oh, Jesus..."
Elizabeth groaned against his lips, "He sounds pretty far away and it's dark. We have time...Lucky, please, I can't wait..."
"Oh, God, I can't either..." Neither lost their momentum, in fact, the chance that someone might discover them only made them want each other more. It was only moments before Lucky felt Elizabeth's body stiffen and begin to tremble as she pulled him even closer, and he felt his own release beginning.
As he his breathing returned to normal, he sighed and reached down to zip his jeans. "Jesus, how are we going to live without this?"
"I don't know, Lucky. I just don't know."
Just then they heard Luke's voice again, from the garden below. "Lucky is that you up there? Your mother and I are getting ready to leave."
"We'll be right down, dad. Give us a minute."
He looked at Elizabeth and smiled. "Let's go home, where no one can interrupt us."
The made their way to the garden and made there farewells to Luke and Laura, who cried quietly as she hugged Lucky good-bye. "I'm not ready for you to leave me again, Lucky."
He kissed her on the cheek. "It won't be like before, you know. I'll be back. And you and dad are going to come and see some of my shows. And remember, it's not like this is forever. I only signed a year's contract."
"I know, I know. Just go and wow the crowds, we'll be watching for the reviews."
"Thanks, Mom, I love you. I'll call you in a few days." He turned to Luke. "Hey, dad."
"Break a leg, son. I'm real proud of you, you know."
"I know, thanks." He embraced Luke and said, "I'll see you both soon."
When they arrived home it was nearly midnight. Elizabeth frowned as she turned the light switch on and glanced at the clock in the kitchen. "We only have a few hours, Lucky. I thought we'd have more time."
"I know, so did I. I'm sorry."
"It's not your fault. Nikolas really did a wonderful job at the party. I don't think there were any fights, and that's no easy feat when you get nearly all of Port Charles together in one place."
"True."
"Well, there was my little altercation with Julie."
"I wish you'd tell me about it."
She touched his cheek and kissed him. "You know what, Lucky. It doesn't matter. I'm just going to have to learn to ignore everything she says to me. I just hope..."
Lucky pulled her close and said, "I know you're worried about her, but you have to believe me. I can handle Julie. I won't let her become a problem for us. I promise you that."
"Okay, the subject of Julie is officially closed for tonight."
"Good." He reached around and began to unzip her dress. "Now what do you say we get out of these clothes and crawl into bed?"
"There's nothing I'd rather do. Why don't lie down and I'll be right back?"
She started to walk away and he grabbed her hand. "Hey, where are you going?"
She looked at him seductively. "Trust me. I'll be right back."
"Okay. But be quick about your business. I need you." He reluctantly let go of her hand and watched her leave the room. A few minutes later she returned, removed her robe and crawled into bed beside Lucky. He reached for her, and she pushed him back on the bed and perched herself over him.
"This is your special night, Lucky. Your wish is my command."
His face grew serious as he cupped her face in his hands. "Just love me, baby. That's all I need. Just love me."
She smiled, but felt her eyes brimming with tears. "Oh, Lucky, that's the easiest thing I do." She leaned down to kiss him, softly at first, then more urgently as he caressed her breasts and she straddled him, resting on his hips. After kissing him for a few minutes, she sat up and slid down as she slowly traced her hands down his chest, finally taking him in her hand and leaning over to lick just the tip of his erection. "God, that feels good. If you keep that up, you know I'll never be able to leave you."
"I wish that were true."
She looked up at him and he put his hands on her face, pulling her up so he could kiss her again. As he did, he pushed her back on the bed, positioning himself above her as he parted her legs with his knee. "I don't want to leave you, Elizabeth. It's the hardest thing I've ever had to do. But it won't be for long, we'll see each other in a few weeks when you come to LA. And right now, I just want to make love to you, to be inside you."
He lowered himself over her and she moaned as she felt him enter her. He laced his fingers through hers and held them over her head as he moved slowly and deliberately inside her. He gazed deeply into her eyes and said, "I want to savor this moment. I want to keep it with me while I'm gone. You, lying here, looking so beautiful, loving me. You're my whole life, Elizabeth, and that will never change."
She felt the tears slip out the corners of her eyes as she wrapped her legs around him and together they moved in perfect rhythm.
Lucky awoke to the alarm at 5:00. He heard Elizabeth groan as he reached for her. "Morning already?"
"I'm afraid so. We have to be at the airport at 6:00." He pulled the covers back and sat up in bed. "Look at that beautiful sunrise."
Elizabeth raised up and looked out the window. "I don't know, Lucky, it looks like a pretty bleak sunrise to me. I mean, it may be pretty, but you're about to disappear into it and leave me."
"Not for another hour and a half. I'm all packed and it only takes about fifteen minutes to get to the airport." He leaned over to kiss her and smiled. "So, what do you think we could do with all this extra time we have?"
"Oh, I have quite a few ideas...why don't you let me show you..."
The Hunger ~ Chapter 8
"Telephone Sinkhole"
Lucky Spencer couldn't sleep. After tossing and turning for what seemed like hours, he sat up in bed and ran his hands through his hair, glancing at the clock. 3:00 AM.. The lyrics of that song by Matchbox 20 went through his head. 'It's 3 AM, I must be lonely." And he was. He wasn't even sure what town he was in. And sometimes it felt like he would never see Elizabeth again, let alone hear her voice. It had been six weeks since she and Emily had flown to Atlanta to be with them, and he hadn't talked to her in four days. They'd kept missing each others phone calls. He'd tried to call her earlier, but she hadn't been home. He really needed to talk to her. The show tonight had been brutal, the crowd unruly, and his throat ached from singing six nights a week for the past two months. He needed a break badly. In fact, he'd cornered Julie after the show tonight when he came off the stage.
"Julie, we need some time off. We can't possibly keep up this pace. The guys are wrecked. I'm wrecked. My voice is nearly gone."
"Lucky, there's no time off for another six weeks. You've got six shows a week until June. Then you get a few days off. We've been over this before."
"I know, I know. But they miss their families. I miss Elizabeth. I need to see her. Can't we take at least one day and go home?"
She shook her head. "You have promotional stuff to do on all your days off. Interviews, pictures, CD signings."
"You know how I hate that shit."
"It comes with the job, Lucky. You knew that when you signed up for this."
"Yea, but it doesn't mean I have to like it."
Julie moved closer to him, putting her hand behind his neck, massaging it, her other hand caressing the inside of his thigh. "You're so tense, Lucky. You need to learn to relax. Let me help you."
"Julie, stop." He grabbed both her arms firmly and disengaged them. "I'm going to the hotel and going to bed. I'll see you tomorrow."
He thought about Julie and how much he'd grown to dislike her. She was manipulative and demanding, not to mention ruthless. And he finally understood that she wanted him. Heather had warned him enough times, and he'd always just laughed it off, but he knew it was true now. And although he did everything in his power to dissuade her, she was unrelenting. And he also knew now that Elizabeth had known it since the first time they'd met Julie and that was why she took such an intense dislike to her. The end of this year couldn't come soon enough for him. He just wanted to be as far away from Julie Powell as possible when his contract was up.
He finally got out of bed and went to the small kitchen in his room, grabbed a beer and went back to bed. It was the only thing he could think of that might help him sleep. That and Elizabeth, but she wasn't here. God, how he missed her.
He took a few swallows of beer and lay back on the pillows, remembering the last time they'd been together and found himself reaching for the phone, dialing her number and listening to the ringing. He was just about to hang up when he heard her voice. Her soft, sweet, middle-of-the-night voice.
"Hello?"
"Hey."
"Hey, yourself."
"How's my baby?"
"Lonely. I'm so lonely for you, Lucky."
"I'm miserable, too. Did I wake you? I know it's late, but I just had to hear your voice."
"Lucky, I'm always awake. I can't sleep without you here. Are you okay? Your voice sounds funny."
"It's just a sore throat from singing so much. I'll be okay. How's Mom and Dad?"
"They're fine. Everyone is fine. They all miss you. And Emily is miserable without Zander."
"He's pretty miserable without her, too. I keep trying to get Julie to let us come home, even if it's just for a day."
"You know that will never happen. She's so unfair to you, Lucky. It's because she wants you all to herself."
"Well, contrary to what she thinks, she doesn't even remotely *have* me." He sighed deeply. "What the hell was I thinking, Elizabeth? What part of me thought this was a good idea?"
"I wonder that myself sometimes. But we made this decision together and it's only a year, Lucky. A year out of our lives. And it will be worth it when everyone knows who you are and wants to record your songs."
"You sound pretty sure of that."
"I am sure. Soon we'll be able to sit back together and reap the benefits of all this hard work."
"It means everything to me that you believe in me."
"I'll always believe in you. You know that."
"I do know that. I just don't know if I can do this for nine more months without you with me."
"You won't have to do it all without me. I have some things in the works. And you have a concert here in Port Charles in June. I can't wait for everyone here to be able to see you."
"Most of them have seen me perform before."
"They have, but not in a big concert hall. That will be exciting."
"Sometimes I think that will be our most important show. If we don't get good reviews in our home town, then we're really screwed."
"You'll get good reviews, Lucky. I don't think you need to worry about that."
"Well, right now, it's the least of my worries. I'm worried about not being able to see you. It's like there's this big void that I can't fill. Do you feel that, too?"
"Of course I feel it, too. It won't be much longer, Lucky. I promise."
"I hope not. So what were you doing when I called? Are you in bed?"
"I am. I was just lying here thinking about you, like I do every night."
"Mmmm...tell me what you were thinking."
"Oh, I was just wishing you were here with me, imagining what it would be like if you were here with me."
"Tell me what it would be like."
"Well, we certainly wouldn't be sleeping. I'm pretty sure about that."
"Me too, baby, me too. So, what are you wearing?"
She laughed, "One of your t-shirts."
His voice grew huskier. "Can you take it off for me?"
"I can. Hold on just a second." He heard her put the phone down and heard the rustling sound as she lifted the t-shirt over her head. "Okay, I'm back."
"God, I love the visual of you taking off that shirt and lying back on the bed. Do you have any idea how much I wish I were there?"
"Oh, Lucky, no more than I want you here." She laughed a little. "I know you're not wearing anything."
"You know me too well. I do seem to have this raging problem though. Absolutely raging."
"Mmmmm. I wish I could take care of that for you."
He was breathing heavier now. "I wish you could, too. I'm imagining it's you touching me right now."
She sighed. "Oh, me too, Lucky. Me too."
"Let's come together, Sweetie. It won't be the same, or nearly as good as really being there, but it will be something."
"I'm already on my way."
Lucky's heart was pounding as he stroked himself and listened to her breathing. They continued this way in silence for some time.
"Elizabeth?"
"I'm almost there, Lucky. I just need a little help."
"Just imagine that I'm kissing you, and that I'm inside you and caressing you at the same time. Can you feel me there with you, baby?"
"I feel you here, Lucky. God, I feel you here with me. I'm going to come. I can't wait any longer."
Neither could he, and he let go as he listened to her ragged breathing as they came together over the phone. They were both quiet as they waited for their breathing to return to normal.
Finally Lucky spoke. "God, Elizabeth. I miss you so much."
"I know. I don't know how much more of this I can take."
"Don't cry, sweetie. I don't want you to cry."
"I'm sorry. It's just that it was so emotional. What we just did. We've never done this before."
"I know. But I bet we will again. What do you think?"
"I hope so. But you're right. It isn't the same, but it's something. It makes me feel like you're closer to me."
"Me, too. I should let you go so you can go to sleep."
"I don't want to you to go. Can't we just stay on the phone? I want to be able to hear you breathing while I fall asleep."
"Okay. We can do that. In fact I really like that idea. Just imagine that I'm there with you and I'm holding you while we fall asleep."
They were quiet for a long time, just listening to each other breathe. Lucky felt himself relaxing, finally, and as he felt himself almost drifting off to sleep he said, "Elizabeth?"
"I'm here," she whispered.
"Love you, baby."
"I love you, too, Lucky."
