Ch. 5

Sonny walks into his penthouse and pours himself a drink. He walks over to the window and begins to think of the one person who he can never get out of his mind. He remembers how he used to feel when he was with her and how he could never stop loving her.

Flashback

B- That was the first night you ever kissed me it was, oh my God, do you know that two years later I still sit up at night sometimes and my mouth still burns from that kiss.

Another Flashback

B: I was thinking about V day 2 years ago, the first time you ever smiled at me, remember?

S: I'll never forget. We were in the auto showroom looking at cars and we kinda just looked at each other.

B: I though you were so cool. You know I fell in love with you right than and there.

He’s snapped out of his memories by his ringing cell phone.

S- Hello

AC- Hello, Mr. Corinthos.

S- Who’s this?

AC- An this is Antonio Cortez.

S- What can I do for you?

AC- Well I’m actually calling to see how my girl is doing? I trust Mr. Morgan is taking good care of her?

S- Why would you care?

AC- We, this is my sister we’re talking about. Maybe no in blood, but in all the ways that count. So if he hurts her I will kill him personally.

S- Hey easy with the threats. I’m letting you know that Brenda is fine and she’ll stay that way as long as I’m breathing.

AC- That’s good to hear.

Kelly’s Diner

Bobbie walks into the diner looking extremely upset. She takes a seat at the counter and Ruby comes over to her.

R- Bobbie, what’s the matter, dear?

Bo- I was over having lunch with Monica when Jason stopped over. He was telling Monica about a girl, he’s friends with, who is in town looking for her birth mother. Aunt Ruby, she’s twenty-three years old. That’s how old my daughter would have been. What if she’s my daughter?

R- Well it’s a definite possibility.

Bo- There is not a day that goes by that I don’t think about her and how’s she doing. What if she hates me? What if she doesn’t want anything to do with me?

R- Well, if she’s your daughter, you have to remember that she came all this way looking for you. So, she must want to see you.

Just then Jerry Jacks walks in interrupting their conversation. He makes his way over to them and sits down next to Bobbie.

Je- Sorry, I’m late luv. I had to check out a plane that flew in from Madrid with some private passengers. It took me a little longer because I had to find someone to fly it back to it’s owner.

Bo- That’s okay Jerry. Let’s go home.

PH4

Sonny is sitting on the couch, with a drink in his hand, when Jason walks in.

J- You wanted to see me Sonny?

S- I had a very interesting conversation with Antonio Cortez a while ago.

J- Ah, so I take it you’ve seen her?

S- Yeah, early this afternoon, before the phone call. How did you find her?

Jason explains to Sonny everything that happened in Madrid without leaving out one detail.

J- They seemed to be pretty close.

S- Yeah, I gathered that from his call.

J- Well, she’ll be okay there. Now, I was think about Carly, what do we do?

S- Well, she seems to like you so let her stay with you.

J- Ya know, I’m so used to living by myself and now I have two women living with me. That could be interesting.

S- Don’t even think about it.

J- Chill man. I was just kidding. Jeez, you got it bad.

S- Ha Ha! (laughing for real now) You should talk, you got it bad too and you don’t even realize it.

J- What are you talking about?

S- Oh quit the innocent act. I saw the way you were looking at her and I saw the way she was looking at you too.

J- Yeah?

S- Yeah.

J- Cool.

They both continue laughing. What they don’t know is that Dave has been listening to their conversations. Dave smiles slyly and quickly moves back to his post in-front of Jason’s door.

Ch. 6

Jason goes to the Safehouse. He brings Carly the clothes he got from Emily. Carly changes and he brings her back to his penthouse with him. Jason opens the door and allows her to go in.

C- Hey, this place is great.

J- Well, it’s not the most high profile of places but it’s home.

C- Are you kidding me? This place is fantastic. I used to dream about living in a place like this.

J- Well, now you are.

C- So where’s this other girl you were telling me about?

J- (calls for Brenda) Brenda.. Brenda!

Brenda appears at the top of the stairs.

B- Jeez, Jase chill out. I heard you the first time. I’m not deaf you know.

She walks down the stairs and over to where they are standing.

B- Hi, I’m Brenda. You must be Carly. It’s nice to meet you.

C- Hi, Brenda, nice to meet you too.

J- Ok, ladies I have some things to do so you guys can talk or whatever.

Jason goes to his office and Brenda and Carly sit down on the couch.

B- Well, I gotta tell you that I sure am happy to have another girl staying here. I mean Jason’s great and all but he’s not a big talker, he mostly keeps to himself.

C- Well, I’m glad to be here. I mean, really, I’ve only been in town a few days and I’ve already made new friends. Have you met Sonny?

B- I don’t know, what does he look like?

C- Tall, dark, handsome. Has a broodish look to him.

B- Yeah. Yesterday he comes over here and he faints, I mean like totally blacks out. Then we’re talking and he runs outta here so fast. It was pretty weird to tell ya the truth.

C- (laughing) So where are you from?

B- Well, originally I’m from PC, but Jason found me a few days ago in Madrid, Spain. I was running a little clothing store and he comes in and tells me that he knows me. And get this, I was thought to be dead. Well since I couldn’t remember anything about myself I decided to come back here with him in hopes that my memory will eventually come back.

C- Have you remembered anything yet?

B- Well, I remember my name is Brenda. I can remember loving this guy so much but then he married somebody else and then my car crashed and swerved off the road and down a cliff.

C- Wow.

B- Yeah, I know it surprised me too. Strange because I remembered that when Sonny was over here. Anyway, so where are you from?

C- I’m from Florida. I’m in town looking for my birth mother. See my mother, Virginia, just passed away but before she died she told me that I was adopted and that my birth mom lives here.

B- Wow, well, if you ever need any help I’d be glad to help you.

C- Same here.

There was a knock at the door. Brenda gets up to answer it. She opens the door and Sonny is standing there.

B- Hi, Sonny. Come on in.

S- (shocked) How did you know my name?

B- (points to Carly) Carly told me.

S- (Disappointed) Oh.

B- Jason’s in his office.

S- Good. But, I’m not here to see Jason, I wanted to know if you wanted to go out?

B- Me?

S- Yeah, so do you want to?

B- Umm... okay, just give me a minute to change.

Brenda runs upstairs and Sonny watches her go. Carly has noticed their whole exchange with interest. She suddenly feels protective of her new friend.

C- Hey Sonny (Sonny looks at her). Don’t play around with her. She’s been hurt enough as it is.

S- What do you mean ‘hurt’?

C- Let’s see... she’s lost her memory, and what she remembers is the love of her life marrying someone else and her car going off a cliff. I call that hurt enough.

Sonny looks down with shame for being the one who’s hurt her so badly. Carly notices this and remembers to ask Jason about it later. Brenda bounds down the stairs and walks over to Sonny.

B- Okay, I’m ready.

S- Great.

B- Carly, can you tell Jason that I’m going out with Sonny?

C- Will do, have a nice time.

Brenda and Sonny leave. Carly is still sitting on the couch, thinking about Sonny reacted when she told him Brenda had been hurt, when Jason walks in.

J- Where’s Brenda?

C- She went out with Sonny. He came and picked her up.

J- Oh, okay.

C- You know all about her history with Sonny, don’t you? Be straight with me, he was the one who was in love with her but married the other woman, wasn’t he?

J- Why would you say that? And why do you care so much about Brenda?

C- Hey, she’s been hurt a lot. I understand her and now she’s a friend. I can tell just by the way he looks at her. There’s love between them, like he’s loved her forever.

J- Well, that’s his problem and he’ll have to deal with that when the time comes.

The Park

B- Sonny, the carriage ride was amazing. New York is so beautiful after dark.

S- Yeah, that’s when it comes alive.

B- And the ices. I don’t think I’ve ever had such a great cherry icey.

S- Well, I’m glad you liked it. So Jason tells me you’re from Madrid?

B- Yeah. He found me when I was working at my clothing store. I like fashion. It’s fun and it pays the bills so everything works out. (she smiles at him)

S- Well, it’s getting late we should probably be getting back.

They both stand up at the same time. Brenda is so close to Sonny he can hardly breathe. She reaches out and takes his hand in hers, but quickly releases when a powerful force of electricity flows passionately between them. Sonny was in heaven with her touch but saddened when she pulled away. Will she ever be able to love him the way she once did, he wonders to himself.

Ch. 7

It’s late in the middle of the night and Carly is tossing and turning in her bed. She dreams of the day she had come home from school and immediately knew her step-father was drunk. She saw him hitting her mom so she ran over and started hitting on him. That was one of the numerous times he threw her down the stairs and then he knocked her mom unconscious. That was when all her problems started. She never told anyone but from all her endured head trauma she had trouble remembering certain times in her life.

Jason jumped out of bed when he heard a scream. He ran down the hall and opened Brenda’s door and she was still sleeping peacefully. Then he heard the scream again and realized that it wasn’t his imagination. He went across the hall to Carly’s room. He saw her violently tossing back and forth. He went over and tried to wake her up, but it wasn’t working. He began to shake her awake and her eyes open but she screamed louder.

J- Hush. Shhh. You’re going to be okay. It was just a dream.

Carly looks up at him dazed. Then Brenda comes rushing into the room.

B- What’s going on?

J- Carly just had a bad dream. She’s okay now, you can go back to sleep. I’m gonna stay here until she falls back to sleep.

B- Okay, are you sure?

J- Yeah, it’s fine.

B- Okay, goodnight.

J- Nite.

Jason sits next to Carly on her bed.

J- You safe. It was just a dream. Do you want me to stay here till you fall asleep?

Carly nods and looks up into his warm blue eyes and she can instantly feel his true concern for her. She wipes away the tears from her eyes. Jason stays there with Carly in his arms until she falls into a peaceful sleep.

The next morning Brenda and Carly were sitting in the living room watching Regis and Kelly on television. Derek Jeter of the NY Yankees was on and the girls were drooling over him together.

Sonny walks in sees Brenda and a smile quickly comes to his face.

S- What are you girls watching?

C- Shut up Sonny! Da Man is on tv.

S- Who’s “Da Man”?

B- (sighs) Derek Jeter. Don’t ya just wish he was wearing his uniform?

C- Yeah, have him bend over a couple of dozen times. (they laugh) But the suit does to wonders for his sexy body.

S- Is Jason here?

B- (looks up at Sonny) Huh? Jason? He’s in the kitchen.

S- Thanks.

Sonny walks into the kitchen laughing to himself. Jason looks up surprised to see Sonny.

J- What’s so funny?

S- Brenda is in their admiring Derek Jeter’s ass.

J- Ah, so ya jealous right?

S- Who me? Jealous? Well...maybe just a little.

Jason starts laughing at him.

S- Great, even you’re turning on me. Don’t forget we have a meeting in ten minutes.

J- I know I was on my way over.

S- K, I’ll see ya over there.

Sonny walks out through the living room and watches Carly and Brenda laugh together. His heart swells with the love he feels for her. Her laugh is infectious and he feels his smile flaring.

It’s now about half-an-hour later and the girls have gotten tired of watching the tv. Brenda has gone upstairs to get a shower and Carly is getting stir crazy. She puts on her coat and walks out the door not noticing Dave listening at Sonny’s door.

Kelly’s

Carly walks into the diner and takes a seat at the counter. She takes off her jacket and places it on the seat next to her. Ruby comes in-front and is happy to see Carly again.

R- Hi dear, what can I get for you today?

C- Do you have any muffins that I can take with me?

R- Sure. I haven’t see you for a while, you been okay?

C- (feels guilty for lying) Yeah, I’ve been looking for a nice place to stay.

R- Oh that’s good. You been making any new friends?

C- Yeah, a few.

R- How’s the search for your birth mother coming?

C- Well, I’ve been a little busy lately so the searching has been limited for now.

R- Oh, well I’ve been thinking about you.

C- Thanks. Well I better be going before my friend starts to worry about me. It was nice talking with you again Ruby.

R- Nice talking to you too honey. Now, you take care of yourself.

C- Okay thanks.

Carly leaves and starts to walk away from Kelly’s when Bobbie walks into Kelly’s. Ruby just looks at Bobbie and shakes her head. As Carly is walking back to Jason’s penthouse, she doesn’t see Dave standing in the alley next to the building, talking to a man on the phone.

D- Yes, sir they have no idea.

M- Are you positive?

D- Yeah, I heard their meeting and not once did they mention anything about it.

M- Perfect. Keep your eyes and ears open.

D- Will do sir, I’ll check in again soon.

M- Yeah you better.

Dave hangs up his phone and makes his way back in the building.

Carly opens the door to the penthouse and sees Brenda sitting on the couch with an upset look upon her face.

B- Looks who’s back. Where in the hell did you go? I was worried sick.

C- Sorry Bren, I just had to get out of here for awhile. Hey, but look I went to Kelly’s and got us some muffins and coffee.

B- Cool. But how are you going to explain that to Jason?

C- Easy, I’m not. Now lets hurry and get this food upstairs before he gets home.

The girls laugh as they run upstairs to Carly’s room.

Ch. 8

Quartermaine Mansion

It was Jason’s day to have lunch with his grandmother, Lila. He realized that the girls were getting restless so he decided to bring them with him to introduce to his grandmother. They walk in and the girls are shocked by the grandness of the house.

B- Wow, this place is beautiful.

C- You’re telling me that you used to live here and you actually moved out?

J- (laughs) Yeah. Come on lets go sit.

They all go and sit down on the sofa.

C- Great, we’re actually supposed to eat here? Well now I’m afraid I’m gonna spill something.

B- Well you’ll just have to be extra careful.

Jason just shakes his head and stands up when his grandmother comes. He walks over to her and quickly explains to her about Brenda. Lila smiles understandingly and Jason begins to introduce Carly and Brenda to her.

B- It’s really nice to meet you Mrs. Quartermaine.

L- It’s a pleasure to meet you too dear.

C- This place is really great.

L- Thank you dear.

J- Grandmother, is mother home?

L- Yes, she’s in her office dear.

J- Thank you, Carly can you come with me for a minute, please?

C- Sure. (Jason and Carly leave the room)

L- So, Jason tells me that he found you in Spain?

B- Yeah, I was working in my clothing store when he came it.

Monica’s office

Jason knocks on the door.

M- Come in.

J- Mom, can I ask you to look at Carly for a minute?

M- Well, what happened to her.

J- Well, it’s not common knowledge, I wouldn’t be telling you if it wasn’t important so I’d appreciate that you keep this to yourself. (Monica nods) She was shot the other day on the docks. I’d just like you to look at it and tell me if it’s healing the way it should.

M- Umm, okay Jason, tell her to come in here. (Carly walks into the office) Hi, Carly, please lay down on the couch. Jason I’m sure you wouldn’t mind waiting in the other room for a few minutes.

J- Oh sure.

Jason waits in the hallway as the minutes pass by. Soon Monica walks out to him.

J- How is she?

M- Well, it seems to be healing nicely to me. There’s no sign of infection.

J- Great. Thanks mom.

M- Just make sure she gets plenty of rest and doesn’t over exert herself.

J- Will do. Come on Carly, we’re gonna go get Brenda and head out.

PH4

Jo- (knocks) Mrs. Jacks is here to see you sir.

S- (looks questionably at Jason who’s sitting on the couch) Okay Johnny send her in.

Bobbie pushes her way past Johnny and walks right up in Sonny and Jason’s faces.

Bo- What the hell did you do to my little girl.

J- Bobbie, calm down.

S- What the hell are you talking about? What little girl?

Bo- Don’t play dumb with me. I know what you did now where is she?

S- Jason, do you have any idea what she’s talking about?

J- Sorry Sonny, no idea.

Carly and Brenda were going to order dinner and they walk across the hall to ask Sonny and Jason what they wanted. When they got there Johnny started to open the door and Carly heard everything Bobbie was saying.

B- Are you going to go in?

C- (wipes the tears that she didn’t realize have come to her eyes) I’m a little cold, I’m going to go and get my sweater. You go in and I’ll be right back.

B- Okay.

Carly walks back in the other direction, but once in the penthouse she sneaks down the fire escapes. Once she finally reaches the bottom she stands still trying to catch her breath. A man walks from out of the shadows up to her.

M- Isn't it a little dangerous for someone so pretty to be in an alley this late at night?

Carly looks at this man and before she can scream the man puts his hand over her mouth.

Ch. 9

Carly climbed down the fire escape to the alleyway below. As she stood there a man walked over to her.

M- Isn't it a little dangerous for someone so pretty to be in an alley this late at night?

Carly looks at this man and before she can scream the man puts his hand over her mouth.

M- Shush, I’m not going to hurt you. I just need your help. My name is Antonio Cortez and I’m an associate of Mr. Corinthos and Mr. Morgan and a personal friend of Miss Barrett. I need you to help me get in the building without anyone else seeing me at this time. (he takes his hand off her mouth)

C- How do I know I can trust that you are telling me the truth?

AC- Do I look like the type of person who would lie? I was the person who helped Brenda after her accident. I introduced her to Mr. Morgan. Now will you help me?

C- Yeah, follow me up the fire escape.

Antonio follows Carly up and into the penthouse. Carly takes Antonio to go see Jason and Sonny.

C- Jason, Sonny, there is a guy here to see you. He says that he knows you both and Brenda.

J- Well, who is he?

C- He says his name is Cortez.

S- (looks at Jason) What the hell is he doing here?

C- He’s in Jason’s penthouse.

Sonny and Jason follow Carly across the hall. They all walk in and Antonio Cortez is standing there.

S- What can we do for you, Mr. Cortez?

AC- Do you think I could have a meeting with the two of you. There are some very important things that I need to tell you about.

S- Yeah come into my penthouse.

J- What brings you to Port Charles?

AC- I had to warn you both, my source were telling me that there is going to be some high-profile people coming after you.

S- Well, that still doesn’t explain why you came all this way to tell us that?

AC- I couldn't risk sending someone else because I just found out there was a leak somewhere in my organization so I couldn’t call you knowing there would be someone listening.

S- Well thanks for your concern, we appreciate it.

J- Would you like to see her? She right across the hall.

AC- Thank you, I think I will.

Antonio starts to go across the hall and Jason follows him, but before he makes it out Sonny yells at him.

S- What did you go and do that for?

J- Do what?

S- Have him go see her?

J- He’s her friend Sonny. You can’t keep her locked up all for yourself.

Jason shakes his head and goes to his penthouse with Sonny following him over. Antonio opens the door to Jason’s and sees Brenda sitting there talking to Carly. Brenda turns around and when she sees Antonio she immediately runs into his arms. Sonny has just gotten into the room and jealousy flows through his veins as he sees this man holding her.

B- (moving back from Antonio) What are you doing here?

AC- (smiles)I missed you sis. How have you been? Okay?

B- I’m fine, silly. I told you I’d be okay. You worry too much.

AC- You really look happy here. I’m glad.

B- So how’s my shop? Do you have Michelle running it?

AC- Yeah, don’t worry Ronnie it’s fine.

S- Who’s Ronnie?

B- Oh, I had thought that my name was Veronica so Tonio always calls me Ronnie.

J- Brenda, Veronica is your middle name.

B- Oh wow. I didn’t even know it.

There is a knock on the door and then Dave enters.

D- Mr. Corinthos, I just founds this in-front of your door.

Dave hands Sonny the piece of paper. Sonny opens and reads it to himself.

I see she’s back. You never could protect her from me. You better keep both eyes open because I’m watching you.

Sonny face instantly goes pale. He puts the note is his pocket and looks seriously at Jason.

S- Excuse me, Jason, Mr. Cortez, may I speak privately with you both for a minute?

J- Yeah, let’s go to my penthouse.

AC- Sure.

S- Dave I want you to stay posted at this door. You do not move until I tell you to.

Sonny, Jason and Antonio leave. Brenda and Carly just look at each other with confusion.

PH4

Sonny walks in and sits down at his desk and places his head in his hands. Jason pours Sonny and drink and hands it to him.

AC- What’s going on?

S- (hands the note to Jason) Here.

Jason reads the note aloud and Antonio shakes his head in disbelief.

S- I can’t let her get hurt again. I just can’t. We have to get on this right away. I want extra guards over there and she’s not to leave the building. How am I supposed to explain to Brenda that she’s in danger because of me? How Jason?

J- Why don’t you let me explain it to her?

AC- Yeah, that’s a good idea. I have to go my hotel, you both have my cell number incase something goes down.

J- Yeah, I’ll be sure to call and let you know.

AC- Thanks

Antonio leaves and Jason puts his hand on Sonny’s shoulders.

J- It’s gonna be alright man. We’re not gonna let them hurt her. She’s safe. We’ll find out who sent this and then take care of them.

S- Yeah, you’re right. Would you mind if I stayed the night on your couch?

J- I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m gonna go talk to her and Carly now.

Jason goes back to his penthouse and explains to Brenda and Carly the severity of this situation and how they are not allowed to walk around with out bodyguards and they must let either Sonny or Jason know before they go anywhere.

It’s now later that night. Brenda is laying in her bed desperately trying to get to sleep. She begins to think about the so-called threat and what could happen. She gives up on the possibility of sleep and decides to go get something to drink.

She walks down the stairs into the pitch black living room. As she’s walking into the kitchen she bumps her foot on the end table and curses aloud. She goes into the kitchen getting herself a glass of juice, not realizing she’s making a lot of noise. She walks quietly out of the kitchen and as soon as she steps out the door Sonny quickly flashes the lights on. Brenda jumps back in fright.

B- Sonny, you scared the sh!t out of me!!

S- Me?? I thought you were a burglar or something.

B- Oh yeah, like a burglar is gonna go in the kitchen and get something to drink, right.

They walk over to the couch and sit down together.

S- Look, I’m sorry I scared you, it was never my intention.

B- Yeah, I’m sorry I woke you up. I didn’t mean to make so much noise.

S- That’s okay, I wasn’t sleeping.

B- You couldn’t sleep either, huh? You want something to drink?

S- Nah, I’m okay, thanks.

B- Well, since we’re both awake, you wanna watch a movie? Jason has some good ones.

S- Yeah, why not.

Brenda puts in “Big Daddy” and they sit together to watch it. They laugh throughout the entire video. Brenda starts to fall asleep and moves over closer to Sonny. Sonny takes her in his arms and relaxes in the feel of her body next to his. He, too, soon falls asleep.
