Chapter 1
PENTHOUSE
He typed away at his keys on his computer he had been working for 8 straight
hours on this deal. He needed this company and could almost feel it; there were
the final days before it would become his. He smiled he loved this part…the
kill he enjoyed this the most. Knowing all the hard work he had put in and soon
it would all pay off and he would have another company under his belt. He felt
the adrenaline kick in again as he took another sip of his health drink and
smiled at his lap top.
He leaned back in his chair and looked out the window it was already dusk out.
He stood up and walked over to the window he leaned up against the pain of
glass. She had always loved this view he would always come home and often she
would be standing there watching life occur. She was beautiful the most
beautiful and stunning lady he had ever met. And most likely would ever meet in
his lifetime.
He chuckled as he remembered that first time that he had met her…he was trying
to get Lois and she tried to divert him by passing Brenda on his lap. Brenda
she was a hand full and always full of surprises…he never really knew what she
was thinking at times. Yet when it came to their love she was crystal clear.
She loved him and he loved her and they would conquer the world together.
He smiled as he remembered the first time that she met his parents. Lady Jane
was so hard on her but Brenda…Brenda held her own. She was a strong woman and
nothing stood in her way. Although she was strong she was fragile and Sonny
never realized that he thought that she would survive anything thankful she
left him before she didn’t make it through on of his cross fires or threats or
bombs.
He winced as he remembered the day he lost his one true love. He hated himself
for letting her get in that car with her mother. “Your over that Jax…don’t go
down there again.” He took in a breath and walked back over to his computer
screen. “Those thoughts won’t help you get this deal, just think of the
kill…the kill Jax the kill…”
He began to type again when the phone rang. “Hello Jasper Jacks here.”
“Good evening Mr. Jacks, this is Richard calling from Samical. I was wondering
if I could get those papers to you tomorrow. Our fax machine died I’m really
sorry. I know how important those are to you. And I apologize for that, we have
a man out here right now trying to get it up and running again. If you want I
can get it mailed out to you and you’ll have it by tonight?”
“No problem Richard. Just have them here by morning.” He hung up the phone.
Well it looked like he was going to have relaxing evening after all. He ran his
hands through his hair and rubbed his face as thoughts of Brenda dripped back
into his mind. Everything about her was so amazing, her smile and how it would
light up the room and make him melt from inside to out. Or how perfectly she
would fit in his arms at night…
OUTSIDE
She stood at the doors to the hotel. She knew he would be up there typing on
his computer and planning deals. She had been watching him for a week now.
Finding his schedule wanting nothing more than to be up there with him. But she
would always hold herself back worrying that he didn’t love or want her
anymore. Her dreams would be shattered. Everything that she had lived for would
be gone and she would be left with nothing but memories. Memories of her and
him on his tropical island watching the sun go down or eating smoores by a campfire.
She closed her eyes and could almost feel his touch on her arm she opened them
slowly longing to see his face. Nothing…not even a person walking across he
road. Yet again she was alone and longing for him back.
She turned to begin to walk away and a memory came and clung to her. The memory
of Miranda. She hadn’t thought of her in ages or what had happened. She thought
about how Miranda had let Jax believe she was dead and allowed him to mourn for
someone who was alive.
She closed her eyes again and could see the pain in his eyes when he realized
that she was alive and safe and how she had betrayed him in the worst way. She
opened them again and took a deep breath of air. “I can’t do that to him
again.”
She walked into the hotel headed up to the elevator. She press ‘P’ and watched
as the lights got closer and closer to where he was. She felt her stomach do
flip flops at the thought of seeing him and holding him again.
PENTHOUSE
He pulled on a lighter shirt it was cream and was loose and cool. He walked
over to his mini bar and pulled out a bottle of water and began to open it.
~*~*
She got off the elevator and slowly walked to the door. Her hand was trembling
and she had a hard time moving her hand to the knob.
~*~*
He drank his water and pushed play on his stereo remote. The soft melodies of a
saxophone came to his ears and he flopped on his couch. Letting his muscles
relax from working all day and evening.
~*~*
She stood there listening to the music…she smiled he always listened to this to
relax. She felt relief wash over her knowing that he still had his ways and
they hadn’t changed. She slowly placed her hand on the door and began to knock.
She felt her heart race as she waited to hear him from the other side of the
door.
~*~*
He popped up from his spot. Maybe Richard got it delivered over to him. He
walked to his door and twisted the doorknob. Never realizing what he was
opening up to.
She watched as she saw the knob begin to twist. She could feel her heart racing
faster. I love you Jax I love you. Please don’t be mad at me…just hold me and
tell me you love me too.
~*~*
He swung the door open and almost lost his balance at the sight in front of
him. There she was Brenda standing in the hallway smiling at him with tears in
her eyes. He felt the air sucked out of him and a smile form on his lips.
Chapter Two
She gazed into his eyes and smiled at him. She wanted to hug him so badly and
kiss him and love him…to be with him. She felt a single tear roll down her
cheek and it felt like an eternity looking into his deep blue orbs.
He looked at her up and down. He wanted to touch her but he was scared that he
was hallucinating and that his dream would end leaving him nothing but
memories. He wouldn’t be able to handle that again loosing the one women he had
always loved and would always love.
She couldn’t stand just being still anymore, with that she leaped into his arms
and wrap her arms around his neck. “I love you Jax.” She could feel her tears
fall from her cheek onto his shirt. She felt her shoulders shake as the tears
continued to fall down from her cheeks.
He couldn’t believe she was back. He instantly wrapped his arms around her
small waist and held her tight. She was here, his love had come home…she was
alive “I love you Brenda…I love you.” He could feel her shoulders moving as she
cried. He lifted her up in his arms closed the door and brought her to the
couch where he placed her on his lap. He couldn’t take his eyes off her she was
alive! He moved his hands to her hair, he had missed her hair, it was so silky
and smelt like vanilla.
She looked at him she felt so much joy…she hadn’t felt like this in forever and
she loved him with everything she had in her. She touched his face and watched
him kiss her palms. “I missed you so much…” she started to cry again. And she
could feel his massive arms pull her towards him. She lay her head on his chest
and could hear the soothing beat of his heart. This was her home, for now and
forever. She had know she had missed him but being in his arms again brought
her to tears and sobs knowing she had missed so much.
He stroked her hair he remembered everything about her. “I missed you too
Brenda.” The words rolled off his tongue and felt so good to say to her. “I was
so worried about you and looked for you…I thought you were dead…” He swallowed
again and looked her in the eyes. “Brenda…where were you?” He could feel knots
begin to tie up in his stomach. He was afraid to hear her answer maybe she had
quit loving him or someone had hurt her. The thoughts raced through his mind as
images of her crying and helpless broke his heart.
She took in a deep breath and slowly pulled away from the man she loved. “When
the car crashed happened all I do is remember falling after that is blank. I
woke up and I was in a hospital room. Or that is what they called it. I had no
idea where I was and none of them spoke English. I wasn’t healthy enough to
leave and they wouldn’t allow me to leave or try to make contact with anyone.
And when I did I didn’t know where I was…” She took another breath of his
cologne.
“I lost my memory for a couple months and moved from city to city trying to
find myself and who I was. One day I was lying on a beach and I had this memory
of you and me walking along a beach. The memories then just flooded my thoughts
and mind. I instantly began to search for you trying to remember all the little
bits of my life. I worked and worked trying to make enough money to get home. I
wanted to call you…but…” she trailed off. How could she tell he man she loved
she as worried about him not wanting her back?
“But what? What is it Brenda you know you can tell me anything it won’t change
how I feel for you…it can only make me love you more.” He rubbed her cheek. The
touch of her skin was just the way he remembered it soft and smooth.
“Jax I was worried that you had moved on or that you didn’t love me anymore. I
was afraid to be rejected. So after I got into Port Charles…I followed you
around hoping to find you alone and not with anyone…and I did. So here I am…”
She wiped her stray tears from her eyes.
“Brenda I never stopped loving you. I could never stop…I love you more than
life itself. And I need you…just like how you need me” He began to kiss his
wife. The thought of her being his wife again brought back a joy he hadn’t
known for months.
She moved her body closer to his and kissed him back. She pulled him down on
her as she lay on the couch.
“Only you can bring life back to my soul,
Only you can fill my senses and body,
Our love will last the test of time and eternity.”
They two made love for the first time in over a year.
Chapter Three
THE
NEXT MORNING
Jax slowly opened his eyes and saw an angel lying next to him. It took his
breath away thinking that she was back alive and his forever. He never stopped
loving her and he would always love her. He kissed her head and watched as she
slowly stirred.
She hadn’t had such a good sleep in forever. She felt a pair of lips touch her
head and she smiled thinking about last night and what the future had to hold
for the two. She turned and looked into his blue orbs. “Good morning” She let
out a little stretch and smiled at him. She nuzzled her head on his chest.
He smiled at she moved her head onto his chest. “Do you realize how happy Ned
and them will be to see you?”
She smiled as she thought about seeing all her old friends. “I can’t wait. But
I think I want to do that later…cause right now…”she moved her fingers up to
his lips and then over his nose to his hair. “I want some attention.”
He smiled his signature grin as he playfully bit her finger. “Oh you want some
attention” He chuckled as he spoke “I am glad you didn’t change while you were
gone.”
“You haven’t changed either…although the one thing I do hope you changed was
those AWFUL shakes! Oh my…you really need to change those.” She laughed and
smiled at his ‘stern’ face.
“BRENDA! Those are healthy and if you think you aren’t having one of my famous
shakes you are wrong.” He began to tickle her he loved watching her squirm. She
was the squirmiest person he had ever met.
“Stop Jax…AHH!!” She tried to move his hands but he was to strong for her. She
laughed again. “HEE AHH…that …THAT…tickles…!” She wiggled some more until he
stopped.
He lay there held up by his arm. She was gorgeous he moved some hair off her
face. “I love you Brenda. I love you so much.”
She looked up into her eyes and saw his soul smiling down on her. She touched
his face “I love you too.”
He watched as her eyes softened and gazed into his eyes. He never wanted to
stop touching her. He wanted her by his side always never leaving him for a
moment. He kissed her again and pulled her into his embrace. “We are just going
to begin where we left off. And nothing and no one will touch us. I missed you
so much.” He squeezed her sides.
She closed her eyes again and drifted off to sleep in his arms feeling safe and
secure.
LATER AFTERNOON
She stretched her arms out and turned to see Jax sitting on the chair looking
out the window. “What are you thinking about?”
He looked up and saw her looking at him. Her eyes locked on his soul just like
the way it was before “Just thinking about you and me. And how whatever happens
our love always brings us back.”
She smiled at him. Everything he was saying was true. They were going to begin
just like how they were. And even through a near death car crash they still
found their way back. “When I said nobody leaves I meant it. I am not going any
where Jax. I hope you know I tried my best to find my way home the quickest I
could.”
“I know that Brenda, and you’re right nobody leaves.” He smiled at her again.
“So, what are we doing today?” She looked at the clock and laughed. “Or should
I say afternoon?”
He laughed as she smiled again. “That is all your decision. I am assuming that
you would like to see some of your friends, get out and see Port Charles.” He
then looked at the floor by his chair. There were boxes and bags piled up.
She nodded and then proceeded to follow his gaze towards the wall. “What is
that?” She raised any eyebrow knowing he was up to something already.
“Oh just a little surprise for you.”
She watched as his eyes light up and his smiled widened. “Well…are you just
going to sit and taunt me or are you going to give me my present?” She pulled
Jax’s beige shirt over her head and leaped out of their blankets and onto the
edge of it smiling and rubbing her hands together.
He looked at her; her eyes were gleaming like a little kid on Christmas.
“Well…I suppose.” He handed her one bag.
She quickly pulled the contents out and found a pair of black pants and a black
and white tank top. It was diagonally wide striped. She looked at him and
tilted her head. “You bought me cloths?”
He smiled at her. “Well you didn’t come in with bags…so I thought that I should
get you something to wear. I just ordered the stuff, I remember you
liking…black.” He laughed as she smiled and giggled in delight.
“How do you always know what to do?”
“Oh…it’s a gift us Jacks men have. Well excluding Jerry, he wasn’t born with
it.”
She laughed as Jax made the shot towards his brother. “Yeah it is isn’t it?”
She winked at him and began to open the rest of her bags. He had bought a
nightgown, a formal dress, cocktail dress, shoes, more pants, shirts, and
skirts. He had gotten everything a girl needed along with make-up. “You are too
good for me you know that”
“I can never be too good to you. I love you way to much just to let you have
the bare necessities.” He winked at her again. She was stunning even in the
morning. He loved everything about her. “Although the ‘bare’ necessities are
very lovely…” He moved closer and began to kiss her lips again.
Chapter Four
She sat in the limo next to her husband cuddled up. She loved being close to
him again. She had missed him so much and she was relieved that everything was back
to the way it was. She loved everything about him. They had spent a couple
hours talking about what had happened in his life while she was gone. He
explained that he had started seeing a lady named Chloe Morgan but he couldn’t
take care of her and he thought it was unfair for her. So he had ended it with
her. He had told her all about Ned and Alexis and the double marriage to save
Chloe’s company. She was happy that he hadn’t sat around and mourned her for
the whole time she was gone although a part of her was sad that he had seen
another. She tried to shake it off knowing that Jax only loved her and that he
had never stopped.
He sat in his seat with her close to him and he could feel her breathing and it
was a peace that he hadn’t had in a long time. He looked out the window they
were going to the Quartermaine’s estate. He closed his eyes and remembered
their wedding day. He smiled at the thought of that. He loved her just as much
or more today as he did back then. A thought hit him…renewing vows…they should
renew their vows. He smiled at the thought of him and Brenda in a church again
renewing their love after being gone for so long.
“Sir, we are at the estate.”
He was pulled out of his planning and looked at Brenda. “You nervous?”
“No, cause you’re here. Just don’t leave okay?” She looked at him and smiled.
“I wouldn’t dream of it.” He kissed her forehead and then opened his door and
held out his hand for her. He felt her small hand take his and he helped her
out.
They got to the door and knocked. She took a breath her heart was racing with
excitement. She smiled as she saw Reginald open the door and his jaw dropped.
“Hey Reggie, miss me?”
“Mrs. Jacks! It’s so good to see you…the family will be so happy to see you.
Mr. Jacks.”
He listened as Reginald spoke to Brenda as Mrs. Jacks, it sounded so perfect
and right.
As they stepped in she could hear the yelling from the room and it drew a smile
to her lips.
The Den
“I do not want that hoodlum in my house with my GRANDAUGHTER! Alan why must you
let your kids end up like…like this!” He threw his hands at AJ and mumbled
“Oh like me…why me? There are tons of us here that are messed up. Pick a number
please!”
“No Junior you are the special case” Ned rubbed his lip “You see some of us
screw up but you just keep screwing up in the same area all the time!”
“Grandfather you either except me and Zander or don’t and I’ll just leave
again!” Emily crossed her arms and looked at her Grandfather. She loved the man
but she was not about to take him insulting her boyfriend like this in public
or any time.
“Edward don’t be so sour, it isn’t healthy. Our dear Grand-daughter has finally
found a young man, now you will treat him with respect or my door will be
closed to you.”
“If Zander makes Em happy then let her be happy. I would rather have her around
and her telling us what is going on then her living in Kelly’s and me worrying
about her life!” Monica looked at Edward who shook his head.
“Edward true love shouldn’t be meddled with especially at this age.” Chloe
smiled at Emily who smiled back.
“This is my house and I want him gone!” Edward headed to the mini bar.
“It’s my house Edward.” Monica crossed her arms.
Alan looked at her. “I bought it for you!”
~*~*
She looked at Jax and squeezed his hand. “I’m ready.”
With that Reginald walked into the den and coughed loudly. He watched as no one
paid attention, he brought his fingers to his lips and whistled loudly.
“Thank-you, we have a special guest.” He waved his hands towards the couple
standing outside.
Jax took a step inside with his wife by his side. He stood there and watched as
everyone’s heads turned and faces paled.
“Brenda…is that really you?” Lila’s face light up.
She smiled at Lila she loved that lady so much. “Yes, it’s me.” She let go of
Jax’s hand and walked over to her and gave her a kiss on the cheek. “I missed
you so much Lila, it’s good to see you so healthy.”
Lila took her hand and patted it. “Dear Brenda we missed you so much,
especially your husband.”
Ned stood there in shock he looked at Jax who was smiling from ear to ear.
“BRENDA!” He looked at her as she turned around and her eyes light up. He took
a step closer to her.
She looked at Ned her life long friend and ran over to him and flung herself in
his embrace “I missed you so much.”
Jax smiled as he watched the scene unfold before him. He walked over to Lila
and kissed her on the cheek and smiled.
Ned held Brenda. She was really alive, and all those times Jax and he talked
about Brenda and the past. Now they could all have a future together. His
thoughts raced to how happy Lois would be with the news of Brenda being alive.
Emily stood there. She couldn’t believe she was back. She looked so good and
happy. She remembered when Brenda had helped her model; she had always been such
a good friend to her. She looked at Chloe who looked like she was living in a
nightmare.
Edward walked over to where Brenda and Ned where embracing. “My lovely dear
where have you been?” He had tears in his eyes from the shear joy of seeing her
again.
She turned and saw his smiling face. “Edward!” She took a step over to him and
hugged him. “It’s a long story. But it ends with a happy ending.” She smiled at
Jax who was walking over to her. She felt his arms wrap around her
“Well you two look truly happy. Congratulations Brenda I am really glad you are
safe and alive. I’m sure Jax is too although I am still not happy you are with
this mongrel.” He gave her a quick hug.
Chloe slowly stood up and walked over to the happy couple. “Jax, and you must
be the infamous Brenda? It’s a pleasure.”
She knew that this much be Chloe from the way Jax had described her it seemed
she would be the one that Jax would have found. “Yes and you must be Chloe.
It’s a pleasure to meet you.” She held out her hand.
Chloe took her hand and shook it. “It’s a pleasure to meet you as well.” She
looked at her watch. “Well its time for me to go I need to get working. I am
sure I’ll see you later.”
She smiled at Chloe who walked away. She knew how awkward that could have been
and she was glad that it didn’t turn out that way. She turned and saw Emily
standing by a young man. That must be Zander, the young man who she had read
about. “WOW, Em you’ve grown up so much! You look beautiful!” She walked over
to her and gave her a gentle hug. “This must be Zander, it’s wonderful to meet
you.”
“Don’t associate with that boy…he is nothing but a delinquent.” Edward huffed
again in the direction of Zander and waved his arms in the air.
She chuckled and looked back at Zander. “Don’t mind Edward he has a lot of hot
air that he needs to let out..”
“You look really good Brenda. When did you get back in?” Emily reached for
Zander’s hand.
“Well, I’ve been in Port Charles for a week. But I went to see Jax yesterday
night.” She turned and winked at him.
“WOW. I am so happy for you two.”
“Thanks Em.” She smiled at Zander again and sat down on the couch on top of
Jax’s legs.
“So you came back to that Australian corporate raider I see? Not the smartest
move you’ve made.” Edward chuckled
“Well…who else would I come back to? He is my husband you know and I do love
him.” She gazed into Jax’s eyes.
Monica felt her pager beeper. “Alan we should head back to the office. Brenda
it’s great seeing you and I am sure I’ll be seeing you around.”
“Yes bye Brenda.” Alan waved and walked away with his wife.
“Oh dear, I am so relieved to know that you are safe with Jax. You two always
did make the cutest couple. I am looking forward to seeing you two soon. Edward
take me upstairs and leave them to talk.”
The two exited along with Reginald.
Ned walked over and sat down along with Emily and Zander.
“So, what happened? Where did you go?” Ned held out his hands.
She looked at Jax and began to explain her whole episode again.
EARLY EVENING
“Well Brenda we should probably head home now. We have those dinner
reservations at the Grille.” He stood up and she followed.
“I can’t wait till I see you three again. Zander it was really nice meeting
you. Emily be good and Ned…you better call me sometime!” She hugged him again
and followed Jax.
He was in awe of her presence. She had such pose about her and she did a fine
job of showing it. He had spent a lot of the day thinking about how to do the
renewing vows and asking about it tonight. He wanted to do it tonight but it
needed to be perfect.
