Sonny smiles at her, his day brightening just for this encounter with her. Brenda looks at Jason and smiles politely for fear she was interrupting something.

B- “Jason, nice seeing you again.”

J- “Yeah, you too.” (He looks back to Sonny) “I’m gonna go take care of that matter now. I’ll be in touch later.”

S- “Okay. Sounds good.” (Jason leaves and Sonny looks back to Brenda. He motions for her to sit down.) “So how are you?”

B- (She shifts uncomfortably under his intense gaze.) “I’m good and yourself?”

S- “Good, good.”

There is a long silence between them. Brenda looks down at her hands while Sonny looks around the park, but each of them continue to steal glances of the other.

B- (stands up) “Well, I better be going. I have some things to do.”

S- (stands up) “Oh okay. Here, let me give you a ride.”

B- “Okay.” (smiles) “Thanks.”

Sonny walks closely next to Brenda he leads her to his limo. He watches her as she walks and can’t help but want to reach out and touch her. He casually puts his hand on the small of her back, sending shivers up her spine. Brenda tries to hide the smile from her facing, not wanting to feel what she’s feeling.

He opens the door for her and she slides in with him following her. He moves closer to her so that their legs are almost touching. She looked down at them and then up at him. He looked into her eyes trying to see if she felt anything about him like he did about her. He smiles when he sees a small spark there. She’ll give in eventually and when she does I’ll be right there waiting for her.

The soon arrive at Kelly’s. Brenda opens her door and Sonny gets out and goes around to her side.

B- (gets out) “Thanks Sonny. I’ll see you later.”

S- (smiles) “You can count on it.”

Brenda walks in and sits down at the counter. Ruby walks over to her.

R- “Was that Sonny Corinthos who just dropped you off?”

B- “Yeah, I was running in the park and he offered to give me a ride home. Why?”

R- “Brenda, you stay away from him. He’s nothing but trouble. More trouble than a girl like you should be involved in.”

B- “I’m not involved with him Ruby. He just gave me a ride home. Besides I work at Luke’s. He’s my boss.”

R- “Well that’s as far as your relationship should go with him if you know what’s good for you. He’s no good. The sooner you realize that the better off you’ll be.”

B- “Yeah okay Ruby thanks.”

Brenda walks up the stairs and when she gets to her room she flops down on her bed. ‘Why? Why do I have to have these feelings for him? Why is he making it so easy for me? Why, of all the people in this town, does he have to have feelings for me?’ She laughs. ‘There’s too many questions and not enough answers. I’ll go to Lo’s she always knows what to do.’

Brenda gets to the gatehouse and knocks on the door.

L- (yelling) “Just c’mon in!”

Brenda opens the door and finds Lois on the phone. She redialing and hanging up over and over again.

B- “What in the world are you doing Lo?”

L- “C’mere.” (hands Brenda a piece of paper) “Dial this phone number and don’t stop until it’s ringing.”

B- “Okay..” (Brenda walks over to the other phone and begins dial and hanging up just like Lois was when she walked in the door.) “Oh My God.”

L- “What? What?”

B- “It’s ringing.” (Lois turns the radio up when the dj comes on the phone.)

DJ- “Who am I speaking with?”

B- “Brenda, Brenda Barrett.”

DJ- “Well Brenda do you know the Mariah Carey song that was played in the last hour?”

Brenda looks over at Lois. Lois starts jumping up and down.

L- “Dreamlover! Dreamlover!”

B- “Umm. It was Dreamlover.”

DJ- “Congratulations you’ve just won 4 tickets for the Mariah Carey concert tonight.”

B- “I did?”

DJ- “Yeah you did. Now we need your address and we’ll have someone send them over.”

Brenda give the guy Lois’s address then hangs up the phone.

B- “We won tickets for the concert tonight.”

L- “Yeah I know, you must have the lucky touch because I’ve been trying to get through to them all darn day.”

B- Well who’s going besides me and you?”

L- “Well I’m gonna get Nedly to go and you I was thinking you could invite Sonny.”

B- “Sonny? Why Sonny?”

L- “Well I’m just saying that it’s obvious he’s into you and well you like him don’t you?”

B- “What in the hell gave you that idea?”

L- “Oh c’mon Bren, I know you better than you think. I’ve seen how you’ve looked at him and I’ve seen how he looks at you.”

B- “Yeah well he might look at me but I so do not look at him in anyway. He’s my boss Lo. That’s it.”

L- “Yeah okay. Who are you trying so hard to convince me or yourself?”

B- “Yeah Lo whatever you say, but I’m still not inviting him.”

Brenda walks up to the gatehouse with her date for the night, AJ Quartermaine. She rings the door bell and Lois answers it. Brenda and AJ walk in. Lois eyes AJ suspiciously.

B- “So are you and Ned ready to go?”

L- “Oh Ned had to go out of town on business.”

B- “Oh.”

There’s a knock at the door and Brenda turns around to open it. She’s very surprised to see Sonny standing there. He smiles at her and Lois invites him in.

L- “I’m going with Sonny tonight.”

Sonny finally takes notice of AJ standing next to Brenda. He looks at AJ disapprovingly. ‘How could she stand being near him?’ He shrugs it off and dimples at Lois.

S- “Well Lo you ready to have a good time?”

L- “I’m always ready for a good time Corinthos.”

B- (looks from Sonny to Lois) “You have the tickets Lo?”

L- (Lois reaches her hand in her pocket pulling out four tickets.) “Yeah, they’re right here. Now, come on let’s go before the concert starts without us.”

They all head in Lois car and take off for Madison Square Garden. They walk in and show their tickets to one of the guides. He tells them that they have sky box tickets. Brenda and Lois look at each other and squeal while Sonny just smiles at them. He leads them to the highest level and opens the door to their sky box.

L- “I can not believe we have this whole sky boxy to ourselves.”

B- “I know this is incredible.” (She turns and looks at Sonny and sorta smiles.)

AJ- (He puts his hand on her knee) “Thanks for inviting me, Bren. This is really sweet of you.”

B- (Looks from his hand to his face) “Yeah, AJ sure.”

Sonny looks at them and sighs, knowing that it should be him with her not AJ. Lois starts jumping up and down when the lights go out and the music stops. They all stand up to get the best look at the stage. AJ wraps his hands around Brenda as jealousy flows through Sonny. He has to use all his will-power not to punch AJ in his prettyboy face.

They finally all sit back down once Mariah begins singing. Lois goes to the left of Sonny so that he and Brenda are sitting next to each other. He looks down at her hand resting next to him. She was close enough for him to reach out and touch. ‘God, I don’t know how much longer I can take this.’ Brenda looks over at Sonny as he pretends to be watching the concert.

About a half-an-hour passes when Lois realizes something must be done.

L- (Standing up) “Hey AJ, how about me and you go get something to drink.

AJ- (Looks at Lois not really wanting to leave Brenda) “Umm. Yeah okay.” (Looks to Brenda) “Bren you want something to drink?”

B- “Okay, yeah. I’ll have a coke.”

L- (smiles) “We’ll be right back.”

Lois and AJ leave and Sonny and Brenda just sit there quietly. Mariah begins singing a slower song and Sonny stands up.

He looks down at Brenda as she looks up at him.

S- (reaches out his hand) “Dance with me?”

B- “Look, Sonny, I really don’t think we should.”

S- “C’mon. What’s one little dance gonna do?”

They both knew what would happen, what they both really wanted to happen.

B- (sighs) “Okay. One dance.”

She puts her hand in his and he helps her to her feet. She puts her hands on his shoulders but he pulls her in closer as he takes on of her hands in his, intertwining their fingers then holding over his heart. Brenda closes her eyes as her head rest on his shoulder. Sonny smiles down at the sight of her finally in his arms. He pulls back and puts his hands on her face. She looks at him with big eyes.

B- “What are you doing Sonny.”

S- (seriously) “Something I should have done a long time ago.”

He leans in and places his mouth on hers. She stands there shocked for a moment but suddenly gives in to the feelings his kiss is evoking in her. His tongue comes out to lick her lips wanting to taste every part of her. She instantly parts her lips allowing his tongue to sweep her mouth. She moans as her hands move to the back of his neck.

But suddenly her mind takes over and she pulls back quickly wiping off her lips.

B- (shaking her head) “No, no Sonny. We can’t do this.”

S- (running his hands in his hair) “Give me one good reason Brenda. I know you were just feeling everything I was feeling.” (Sonny looks seriously at her) “Look, if you really can’t stand the sight of me and you want nothing to do with me then please.. please just look in my eyes and tell me. I’ll back off, I promise I will, but we’d be letting a great thing slip away.”

B- (She looks up into his eyes) Sonny, I...

Just then Lois and AJ bust in the room laughing. Lois stops when she sense the seriousness of the room.

L- “Were we interrupting anything?”

Brenda looks at Sonny but doesn’t say anything. Sonny shakes his head.

S- “No. No it wasn’t anything important.”

The next night Brenda, dressed in her Luke’s shirt and black jeans, walked into Luke’s only to find it dark and completely empty. All the tables and chairs were pushed to the sides except for one table that was set with candles was positioned in the middle of the room. She walks in further in looking for Luke. Sonny comes walking out of the back.

B- “For some reason I thought I was working tonight. Aren’t we open?”

S- “You did have to work tonight but no we’re not opened. Last minute private affair.”

B- “Oh, well why didn’t somebody call me?”

S- “Well because you’re needed here.”

B- “Okay now I’m confused.”

S- “No, need to be confused, just keep an open mind and have a seat.”

He leads her over to the lone table and pulls a chair out for her. She sits and looks up at him. He dimples back at her.

S- “I’ll be right back.”

He walks over and starts the radio before heading back to the kitchen. Brenda sits at the table trying to sort through her clashing emotions. On the one hand she’d like nothing more than to be swept away by him and on the other hand everything in her wants to resist him. ‘God, Brenda, why can’t your life ever be non-complicated?’

Sonny comes back with a bottle of wine in his hands. Before sitting he opens it and pours them both a glass.

B- (looks over at him) “Okay Sonny, what’s the deal with all this?”

S- “What do you mean ‘what’s the deal’?”

B- “I mean, why did you go to all this trouble just to set up this date with me?”

S- “Don’t you know by now? Haven’t I told you, showed you what I feel for you?”

B- “Sonny, it’s just that.. that too many people have warned me about you. I’m not one to put myself into a relationship where I’ll wind up getting hurt.”

S- “I don’t plan on hurting you Brenda, just the opposite. All I’m asking for you is to draw your own conclusions based on what you see and how you’re treated.” His hand reached across the table to rest on hers. “That’s all I’m asking of you Brenda.”

Brenda felt the heat of their touch rush through her as she allowed herself to smile at him realizing she hasn’t been giving him a fair shot.

B- “I think you’re right.”

S- (smiling brightly) “Great, then how about you dance with me?” He reaches out his hand to her which she in turn takes.

Suddenly they are in each others arms and the only thing they can hear is the beating of their hearts in constant rhythm with the beat of the music. Sonny pulls Brenda closer to him and she rests her head on this shoulder as the waves of electricity flow between them.

Sonny slowly pulls back from Brenda and puts his hands on her face. He searches her eyes before his mouth captures her in a fiery kiss full of built up passion. His hands move to her waist bringing her close, if that were possible, as her hands moved to his neck urging him on.

S- “Thank you Brenda. You won’t regret this.” His other hand runs through her hair but he never breaks eye contact with her. “We’re gonna be magic sweetheart, I promise you that.” His hands find her face and once again they begin their never-ending kisses.
