Chapter 6

The Next Day - The Warehouse - Sonny’s office

Sonny is sitting at his desk looking over some files when Jason walks in.

J- You wanted to see me, Sonny?

S- Yeah, there’s something I want to ask you.

J- Is it about business, because I thought everything was going fine.

There hasn’t been any threats that I didn’t know about, have there?

S- No, no Jason, nothing like that. I want to know about that woman you

were at the Outback with last night.

J- Oh. (confused) You mean Brenda? (Sonny nods) Well, Brenda used stay

with us, how long ago was it?, seven or so years ago. She’s like our sister.

She’s best-friends with us, Lois, Ned and Robin.

S- Oh, ok thanks.

J- She’s staying at the gatehouse, just incase you wanted to know. Now, I

have a few things I need to take care of so I’ll catch up with you later.

S- Ok.

************************

The Gatehouse - later that afternoon

B- Lo, are we still going to the park this afternoon?

L- Yeah, I was planning on it. I’m just gonna finish up these calls and

then we can go.

B- Okay, great. Do you think Nate will need a jacket? I’m still not used

to the weather around here.

L- I doubt it, but bring one just incase.

B- Ok, I’ll go get Nate and Brooke’s jackets upstairs.

L- Great. *(the doorbell rings)* I’ll get it. *(opens the door)* Sonny, hi,

come on in.

S- Thanks. (he unbuttons his jacket and sits on the sofa)

B- (running down the stairs) Lo, I can’t find Brooke’s coat..... (she sees

Sonny there)

L- (looks to Brenda and then to Sonny and can tell something’s up) Brenda

this is my best-friend Sonny, Sonny this is my best-friend Brenda.

Sonny and Brenda shake hands and they each feel that familiar electricity

between them that they had each have been longing for. Brenda pulls away

suddenly and gets off the sofa.

B- (to Lois) Well, I see your busy, so I’m going to take Nate to the park.

You and Brooke can me us there when your done. (she walks upstairs)

L- (to Sonny) What was that all about?

S- (shrugs) What do you mean?

L- (looks at him sternly) I seen the way she was looking at you and you

just happened to look the same way to her. I expect you to tell me what’s

going on here!

S- Lois.. (before he can finish Brenda comes downstairs with Nate in her arms)

B- (she quickly walks to the door) Bye Lo, Sonny. (she slams the door shut)

L- See! There she goes acting strange again. (Sonny gets up and quickly

walks to the door)

S- Sorry Lo, but I have to go after her.

He leaves. Lois is left standing there with a visibly confused look on her

face. Just as Sonny gets out the door Brenda car takes off. He jumps in

his limo and tells the driver to follow her car.

*****************************

The park

Sonny driver pulls up to the park entrance. Sonny walks around until he

finally finds Brenda. She’s sitting in the sandbox with, what did she say

his name was.. oh yeah, Nate. He wonders if Nate is her son. He walks over

to her and she looks questionably up at him. Then Nate looks up and smiles

at him.

Nate- Mommy, who’s he? (he points his small finger at Sonny)

B- (smiles at Nate) Hey, Nate, why don’t you go over there and play with

Michael?

Nate- Okay Mommy. (Nate runs off to where AJ and Michael are)

S- (looks at Brenda pleadingly) Can I just talk to you for a minute? Please?

B- (looks deep into his eyes) Yeah, let’s sit down over there. (she points

to a bench, they both sit and face each other)

S- (puts his hand on her cheek and she closes her eyes at the feeling of

his touch) Bren, I’ve missed you so much. I tried to look for you everywhere.

I even had the people at the hotel on lookout for you if you came back.

B- I’ve missed you too. I called the casino but they wouldn’t tell me anything.

I don’t even know your last name. There was so much I wanted to tell you,

that I needed to tell you, but I didn’t know where to look for you.

S- (extends his hand) Sonny Corinthos. (smiles)

B- (puts her hand in his) Brenda Barrett.

S- Well, Miss Barrett, it’s a pleasure to formally make your acquaintance.

B- Sonny (she hugs him) I can’t believe you’re actually here, in-front of

me now. I’ve dreamed about this for so long. There’s something I really need

to tell you. I know that you are going to be so happy. Sonny, I....

She’s suddenly interrupted by a woman scowling at her. Brenda immediately

moves away from Sonny. Sonny looks up to see Lily standing over him.

L- Sonny, who’s this woman?

S- Hi darling. I’d like you to meet an old friend of mine, Brenda Barrett.

Brenda this is my wife Lily.

L- It’s nice to meet you Brenda.

B- (she doesn’t hear a word Lily says to her. All she can hear is Sonny

saying “this is my wife” over and over again.)

Brenda doesn’t acknowledge Lily’s presence. She quickly gets up and goes

over to where AJ, Michael and Nate are. Immediately AJ can tell she’s upset.

AJ- What wrong Bren? Did he do something to you? (he motions to Sonny) Bren?

B- Huh? No, I just have to go. Come on Nate, let’s go.

AJ- Can I give you a ride?

B- No that okay, I have my car.

Brenda takes Nate and they leave the park. Suddenly they are parked in the

driveway of the gatehouse. Brenda doesn’t even know how she drove there.

She takes Nate out of his carseat and they go inside. Lois is sitting on

the couch and looks up when she hears the door open.

L- Bren, can I talk to you for a minute?

B- I’m all talked out for right now, Lo. I’m gonna go put Nate down for

his nap and I think I’ll lay there with him.

L- Brenda are you okay?

B- Lo, I’m completely fine. Don’t worry about me, okay. (She doesn’t wait

for Lois to answer her, she just goes upstairs to her room)

The phone rings and Lois answers it.

N- Lois, is Brenda okay? AJ said he just saw her at the park and that she

seemed upset.

L- Yeah she’s in her room. Did AJ say why she could have been upset.

N- He said he seen her talking to Sonny.

L- Great. Something is definitely up here. I’m going to go speak with him

right now.

N- Okay. Be careful.

L- Will do. Bye Ned Love you.

N- Love you too sweetheart, I’ll be home soon.

L- Okay.

Chapter 7??

Sonny’s penthouse - 30 minutes later

Lois gets off the elevator and knocks hardly on his door. Finally Sonny

opens it.

S- Lois, a pleasure as usual.

L- Can it Corinthos. I need to talk with you privately for a minute. Do you

think you can make that happen?

S- Sure, let’s go across the hall.

They go to Jason’s penthouse. Sonny offers Lois something to drink.

L- No thanks, I won’t be staying that long. I wanna know what the hell is

going on between you and Brenda and I want to know now, you get me?

S- I get you. What did she tell you?

L- She didn’t tell me anything.

S- Then what makes you think that there’s something going on between us?

L- I can tell. You’re acting strange, she’s acting strange and she’s been

more upset these last two day than she has been in over three years.

S- (looks questionably) Lois, I don’t know what you want me to tell you.

L- Tell me how it is that you both seem to already know each other?

S- Ok, we met at my casino in Rio about 3 1/2 years ago. That was when I

was staying there and Brenda was there for a photo shoot.

L- (shocked) Oh my God. (trying to calm down) She didn’t happen to tell you

anything of importance today, did she?

S- Well, now that you mention it, she was going to tell me something, but

then Lily showed up. I introduced them but then she left so fast I didn’t

get to tell her goodbye. Why is something wrong with Brenda? You gotta tell

me if she’s sick. What’s wrong with Brenda?!

L- Shut up Sonny. Nothing’s wrong with Brenda. You obviously care a lot

about Brenda, but believe me when I tell you that your dumber than most men.

I still can’t believe I didn’t figure this out before.

S- Figure what out before?

L- Nothing. I gotta go. Wait, one more question, did you have sex with her?

S- Lois that is none of your business.

L- Thanks for answering the question. Bye. (Lois quickly leaves)

S- (calling after her) Aren’t you at least going to tell me what’s going

on here?!!

It was too late, Lois was already gone. Sonny stood in Jason’s penthouse

more confused than he had been before and now everything just seemed to be

getting more and more out of control. Now he had to figure out how he was

going to live in the same town as the love of his life and not be with her,

not make love to her, not touch her every time he saw her, and not go crazy.

**************************

The gatehouse

Lois throws open the door and looks around for Brenda. She goes up to her

room and finds Brenda laying in her bed holding Nate. Lois takes a real good

look at Nate and realizes what she knew to be true.

A while later

Lois goes back upstairs to check on Brenda and Nate. Nate is awake, but

still in Brenda’s arms. She smiles at him and helps him off the bed. Lois

sits next to Brenda and gently shakes her awake. Once Brenda opens her eyes

Lois can tell that she has been crying. Lois holds out her arms to hold her

friend. Brenda hugs her and starts crying again.

L- It’s okay now Bren, I know and I’m gonna help you.

B- (pulls away from Lois) You know?? How did you find out??

L- I just sort of put two and two together.

B- I’m sorry Lois, I really wanted to tell you. I didn’t even know you knew

him until yesterday. I didn’t even know his last name until this afternoon.

Then I find out that he’s married. The one man that I have longed for, for

more than three years is married to someone else. I wanted to tell him but

then his wife arrived and I couldn’t do it, so I ran. What am I gonna do now?

L- Don’t worry about that right now. You’re gonna be fine. You’ve been fine

for the past three years, two crazy days aren’t going to change that. I’m

here for you and you’ve got Ned, Robin, Jason and the rest of the Q’s.

B- Thanks Lo, I really needed to hear that from you. (they hug)

L- What are best-friends for? (they laugh) Now, Nedly is going to watch the

kids while we go out.

B- Oh, Lo, I don’t know if I’m up to going out.

L- Of course you are. I know just the thing, come on let’s go.

**********************

Kelly’s

Brenda and Lois walk in with their arms full of shopping bags. They find a

table and sit down. Lois orders them each an ice cream sundae. It arrives

and they start to eat.

L- Now see, didn’t I tell ya this is just what you needed?

B- Yeah, and you were right, as usual. I do feel better now. I mean I do

have my own money, I’m not looking to be dependent so I can make it on my

own, with the help of my many wonderful friends.

L- You better believe it.

`

Chapter 8

A week or so later

Brenda hasn’t seen Sonny since that day in the park, but that doesn’t mean

she doesn’t think about him, because she does, everyday. Today Brenda and

Nate were meeting Jason in the park. Brenda was pushing Nate on the swings

when Jason walked up to them. Jason starts pushing Nate on the swings and

tells Brenda to sit on a swing, then he pushes her too.

Sonny tells himself that he is taking a shortcut home through the park but

he really knows that he’s hoping to see her there. As he turns the corner

he spots her. Jason is pushing Brenda and Nate on the swings. He stands there

watching them. He knows how much he wishes that was him pushing them instead of

Jason, how much he was part of her family. Little does he know that he already

is. He’s breathless as he sees her smiles. She’s going higher and higher and

laughing like a little girl. It breaks his heart as he thinks he will never have

her love in return. He quietly leaves the park never being noticed, at least

that’s what he thinks anyway.

B- So how’s Robin?

J- She’s doing great. The meds they have her on are really working wonders.

B- I’m really happy for the two of you. You make her so happy Jason please

don’t ever forget that.

J- (he smiles at the thought of Robin) I’ll never forget. She has finals this

week and then she’s coming home to spend the summer. She’s really dying to see you.

B- Well the next time you talk to her, you be sure to tell her that I’m dying

to see her too. We are going to have some major fun this summer, so you better

be ready for it.

J- I could use a little more fun in my life. Hey this is going to be a great

summer just because Robin is coming home, everything else is just an added bonus.

B- That’s true.

****************************************

Night in PC

Sonny is staring out his window. He seems to be looking down at the city

or up at the stars in the sky, but he’s not see any of that. He has one

thing on his mind, Brenda. He stands there and sees her face when they

first met.

Flashback:

S- Diego, get me a scotch on the rocks and another of what this charming

lady is having.

B- (looks at Sonny) Martini, thank you.

S- (smiles showing his deepest dimples) It’s always a pleasure for me to buy

a beautiful lady a drink. (he reaches his hand out toward her) Sonny.

B- (she too reaches her hand to shake his) Brenda.

Their fingers touch and immediately they can feel an electric current flowing

between them. Brenda smiles and Sonny smiles back at her.

B- Did anyone ever tell you, you have the most amazing dimples?

S- Thank you.

B- I bet you hear that all the time.

S- Yeah, but any other time it doesn’t mean anything. Did anyone ever tell

you that you are the most beautiful woman on the planet?

B- (she laughs) Yeah, right. Sure I am.

S- Would I lie. Well you don’t know me well enough to say that, but my eyes

never deceive me and they are telling me that you are the most beautiful

woman that I have ever scene.

B- Oh, well if you put it that way, thank you.

End of Flashback

I can't remember why we fell apart

From something that was so meant to be

Forever was the promise in our hearts

Now more and more I wonder where you are

Chorus:

Do I ever cross your mind, anytime

Do you ever wake up reaching out for me

Do I ever cross your mind, anytime

I miss you

Brenda is sitting on the front porch of the gatehouse. She seems to be

looking at the sky or she could be realizing that this is her last night

here. Tomorrow she will be moving into a cottage by the lake, with Nate.

But none of that is on her mind. Her mind has drifted back to her time

with Sonny. How wonderful she felt wrapped up in his arms.

Flashback:

S-(he smiles at her) Would you give me the honor of a dance?

B- You want to dance here? There’s no music.

S- Listen. Listen to sound of the waves crashing. You said yourself

that it was a peaceful sound. Well that’s music enough for me. So would

you like to dance?

B- I’d love to.

Sonny takes Brenda’s hand and moves her closer to him. Her head rests

against his shoulder while her one hand is intertwined with his the other

is draped slightly around his neck. They most slowly to their own beat.

The beat of their hearts.

They pull away slowly and Sonny looks deeply into Brenda’s eyes. He gently

puts his hands on her face. Before Brenda can believe it Sonny’s lips come

crashing down unto hers. She closes her eyes as their tongues duel together.

She brings her hands around and her fingers rest on his neck while the mingle

in the ends of his hair.

Her touch is making Sonny wild with desire. He continues making love to her

mouth as his hands roam down the curves of her body to come to rest at the

bottom of her back. Eventually the pull away breathlessly. Sonny smiles

deeply at Brenda, takes her hand and leads her back to where his jacket is

laying in the sand.

End Of Flashback

Still have your picture in a frame

Hear your footsteps down the hall

I swear I hear your voice, driving me insane

How I wish that you would call to say

Chorus:

Do I ever cross your mind, anytime

Do you ever wake up reaching out for me

Do I ever cross your mind, anytime

I miss you

I miss you

I miss you

Sonny is still thinking of Brenda when Lily comes up behind him and wraps

her arms around him. How he wishes those were Brenda’s arms and Brenda’s

hand’s touching him again. Lily asks him if he’s coming to bed, he tells

her that he’ll be up in a little while. Lily leaves and Sonny goes over

to his desk. He pours himself a drink and opens a locked drawer. In the

drawer we see a shirt. He pulls out the shirt and holds it to his face taking

in the scent, this is the shirt Brenda had lost in Rio. He sits on the couch

holding the shirt close to him.

No more, loneliness and heartache

No more, crying myself to sleep

No more, wondering about tomorrow

Won't you come back to me, come back to me

Chorus:

Do I ever cross your mind, anytime

Do you ever wake up reaching out for me

Do I ever cross your mind, anytime

I miss you

Brenda goes inside and up to her room. She goes over to the bed where

Nate is sleeping and smiles down at him. He’s the only thing she has

left of that beautiful night with Sonny. Wait, not the only thing. She

opens her packed suitcase and searches through it hoping that it hasn’t

gotten lost. Ah, she finds it and pulls it out. It’s a man’s blue buttoned

shirt, Sonny’s shirt. She breathes in his smell and changes into it to feel

closer to him again. She goes to sleep hoping to dream of him, Nate and how

their life could have been.

Chorus:

Do I ever cross your mind, anytime

Do you ever wake up reaching out for me

Do I ever cross your mind, anytime

I miss you

I miss you

I miss you

I miss you

I miss you

Chapter 9

Moving Day

Ned opens the door to the cottage. The delivery company has just pulled

up behind them. Brenda takes Nate from the car and they all walk into her

new home. Brenda steps in and immediately takes Nate upstairs. They walk

into a room that’s painted sky blue with white puffy clouds painted around

the ceiling.

B- Nate this is going to be your room. You’ll have your bed and all your

toys.

Nate- (he smiles) I like mommy.

B- Oh, I’m so glad Nate. I want us to be happy here.

Nate- I happy momma.

B- I’m happy too, I’m happy because I have the best little boy in the

whole wide world. (she start to tickle him and starts laughing.)

L- (watching Brenda and Nate) Hey Bren, Ned wants to know where you want

your sofa and all.

B- Okay, we’re coming.

Downstairs

AJ, Jason, Ned, Lucky and Luke are all carrying in boxes and furniture

into the house. AJ and Ned start to argue about where the furniture should

go when Brenda, Nate and Lois come downstairs.

B- Okay guys. This isn’t that hard. I’m betting that Nate could do this

quicker than you boys. Right Nate?

Nate- Yup. (Lois and Luke laugh)

B- Okay Nate, let’s show them where we want our stuff.

Later that night

Finally everything has been brought into the house and placed into their

new spots. The guys are exhausted so Lois and Brenda go into the kitchen

to order take out.

B- Well, what should we order?

L- How ‘bout pizza?

B- Okay (calls the pizza place) Okay tell the guys pizza will be here in 30

minutes.

Brenda takes Nate upstairs and gives him a bath and puts his pajamas on him.

When they come back downstairs the pizza has arrived and everyone is eating

and watching tv. Brenda looks around and sees how comfortable everyone is and

she realizes that this is where she was always meant to be, here with her friends,

who were really more like family than friends.

****************************

Luke’s Club

Luke walks in visibly tired and pours himself a drink. He sits behind the

bar and watches when Sonny comes out of his office.

S- Where’ve you been, man? I’ve been looking all over for you.

L- I’m pooped. We all spent all morning and all afternoon helping Brenda

moving into her new place.

S- I thought she was staying at the gatehouse?

L- She was but because she’s going to be staying in town she wanted a place

of her own. I must say it’s a real nice place. She and Nate seemed to like it.

S- Do you happen to know who’s Nate’s father?

L- (looks at Sonny suspiciously) Why do you care?

S- (defensively) I was just wondering, no particular reason behind it.

L- Well she never said and I never asked, but he does look like someone that

I know (Luke looks deeply at Sonny‘s features), but I’m not positive that

he’s the father so I’m not going to say.

**********************

Brenda’s house

Everyone has left and her baby is asleep on the couch, he must have had too

much excitement for one day. She gently picks him up and carries him into his

new bedroom. She covers him and shuts out the lights. She’s marveled by the

stars on the ceiling. She can’t believe that Ned had gone to all that trouble

for them. Jeez, glow in the dark paint, what will they think of next? She

laughs and goes into her room.

****************

The gatehouse

Lois and Ned are relaxing on the sofa.

L- It was really nice of you to go to all that trouble for Bren today.

She seemed so happy. I think that’s the happiest I’ve seen her in a long time.

N- It was no trouble. Actually, the guys and I are really happy to have

her back. She’s the sister that we haven’t seen enough of and her happiness

means a lot to us.

L- Yeah. She deserves all the happiness in the world. And that boy of hers,

he’s just too much. He reminds me so much of her it’s scary.

N- That’s true. (puts his hand on her stomach) Let’s just hope that this

little one will be the perfect balance of both of us.

Chapter 10

The ‘Family’ Gathering

It been a week since ‘the whole gang’ has been together. Robin is back

in PC for the summer, Brenda has been living in her new home for a week,

Lois is another week pregnant, and another week Sonny had gone on thinking

of Brenda.

But tonight is the night! Tonight they will all be gathering together at

Brenda’s for a casual get together or family party. Brenda was upstairs

getting Nate ready when the doorbell rang. She ran downstairs to answer

the door and was happily surprised to see Lois standing there.

B- Lo, I’m so glad your here. (pulling her in the door) I could really

use your help.

L- Well I always new I was good for something.

B- Yeah, you’re great. Now the food is going to be delivered and I have

to run over to Luke’s and I need someone here to wait for the food.

L- Ok, well then I’m your girl.

B- Great. Could you also go in my office and grab the video tapes off my

desk and put them by the tv.

L- Yeah. (then it dawns on her) Oh, no! Those wouldn’t be the home movies

we’ve all spent years trying to live down, would they?

B- I’d never tell, you’re going to have to just wait it out like everyone

else. (grabs Nate’s little hand and they head to Luke’s)

Kelly’s

Lily is sitting at a table drinking a cup of coffee when a handsome latin

man comes walking in. He goes to walk past her but turns around to look at

her. He smiles when he sees her face, then walks back over to her and sits down.

Li- Miguel, what are you doing here?

M- Leelee. I heard you were living here. Married too, to some criminal

right? Well, you did pretty good for yourself, I guess.

Li- I didn’t think I’d ever be able to see you again.

M- Well things change. You’ll be seeing a lot of me now, I work here in

town. I have a job singing and bartending at the Outback.

Li- Oh. That’s great. Are you seeing anyone?

M- No, not at the moment. Why would you be jealous if I were?

Li- No of course not, I’m a married woman.

M- Yes, you may be married but I’m sure he doesn’t make you happy like I could.

Miguel stands up and goes upstairs to his apartment.

Luke’s

Brenda walks in with Nate at her side and the head for the bar.

B- Claude, is my uncle Luke here?

C- No, but Mr. Corinthos is here, would you like me to get him for you?

B- Umm, yeah why not.

Claude goes into the back and then Sonny comes out and is surprised to

see Brenda there. He walks over to where they are standing. He smiles

down at Nate.

S- Hey little guy. (looks at Brenda) Can I help you with something Brenda?

B- I was actually looking for Luke, is he or Lucky coming by any time soon?

S- I’m not sure, but I’d be glad to do what I can for ya.

B- Well, I guess I’ll have to go to his house on my way home. But, you know

what, I’m having this little gathering at my house tonight and you and Lily

are more than welcome to come. Here (she takes a pen out of her purse and

grabs a napkin) Here’s my address and phone number and if you can make the

party that’d be great.

S- Wow, thanks, I’d love to come. If I can be there I’ll see ya later than.

B- Great.

Brenda and Nate leave and head for Luke’s house. She tells them to bring

Lulu because there will be other small kids there for her and then they go

home. Brenda walks in the door and sees Lois watching the movies and laughing.

B- Hey, hey, hey. You’re not supposed to be watching those now.

L- Oh, I just couldn’t help it. My curiosity just got the best of me. Now

you wouldn’t hurt a pregnant woman, now would ya?

B- Oh you better just thank your lucky stars that you are pregnant because

not just anyone can be spared from my wrath. (they both laugh) Hey did the

dinner get here yet?

L- Oh, yeah, it’s in the kitchen.

B- Great, everyone should be arriving soon. Ned’s bringing Brooke with

him right?

L- Yeah. And AJ and Carly are bringing Michael.

B- Okay everything is going perfectly, almost too perfectly. Oh, by the

way, I ran into Sonny at Luke’s and invited him and Lily tonight. I figured

I should try to be civil with him for Nate’s sake, (she looks down at Nate)

if you know what I mean.

L- That’s good of you Bren. When do you plan on telling him, if you are

going to tell him?

B- I am going to tell him, it just seems like he’s been trying to avoid me

for some reason. Maybe he just doesn’t want to be around me. Who knows maybe

he isn’t even going to come tonight.

Before Lois can say anything the doorbell rings. Brenda answers it and Ned,

Brooke, AJ, Carly and Michael are there. Followed by Luke, Laura, and Lulu.

B- Hi guys, come on in and take a seat.
