Labor of Love Chapters 6-7

Chapter 6

Lily sat on the couch, having a miserable time. Sonny was trying to pretend that nothing had happened between him and Brenda upstairs but she wasn’t buying it. No, she would not let Brenda take away something else of hers. She had already taken Miguel away from her, she had poisoned his mind against having children with her until after he became famous and that is what broke them up. She had gotten even with Brenda and had caused the breakup between her and Sonny by informing him about the wire that Brenda had been planning on wearing. She would have to come up with something bigger to keep them apart. She had thought that she succeeded but obviously she had been wrong. Brenda looked over at Lily and saw the antagonistic look that was on her face. Brenda wanted to march right over to her and punch that smug look right off of her face. She couldn’t stand Lily and she didn’t care what everybody would think if she was to go punch her in the face. She knew Lois for one would be very happy. Even Karen would be happy. Brenda gazed at Sonny from the corner of her eye and noticed that he was talking to Lily. Brenda suddenly felt nauseous so she went outside for some fresh air. When she got outside she decided that she was ready to go home, as she was walking to her car, a maniac driver came out of nowhere and hit her. Brenda let out a piercing scream and everybody in the penthouse heard it.
S: “ What the hell was that?”
L: “ I don’t know, maybe we should go downstairs and check it out.”
Luke and Sonny head downstairs to check it out. Sonny is the first to see Brenda’s lifeless body lying in the road. He points it out to Luke and they run to help her. Sonny doesn’t realize that it is Brenda until he is there.
S: “ Oh my God! Luke, it’s Brenda. Baby, can you hear me? Please don’t die on me! I need you! I can’t live without you!” Sonny is desperately trying to find a pulse. He can’t and he is panicking. “ Oh my God! Luke, I can’t find a pulse.” Sonny massages her heart and he isn’t having much luck. “ Damn you, Brenda Barrett! Fight for your life! I need you damn it! You can’t die on me!” Sonny is sobbing hysterically. Karen and Jagger have shown up and Karen gets down on her knees and begins to revive Brenda. After a couple of minutes Karen gets her heart beating again and Sonny is grateful.
S: “ Is she going to be alright, Karen?”
K: “ I don’t know Sonny, but we have her heart beating again and that is something.”
S: “ I don’t know how I can ever thank you Karen.”
K: “ You don’t have to thank me Sonny. I did this for Brenda. I have known Brenda for a long time and I don’t want her to die.”
S: “ So you and Brenda are friends?”
K: “ We have worked out our differences.”
S: “ I can’t thank you enough for saving the woman that I love.”
Sonny went in the ambulance with Brenda, much to Lily’s dismay. Brenda regained consciousness long enough to mutter something about the baby. Sonny heard her say something about the baby and he started getting confused. When they got to the hospital Sonny saw that Bobbie Jones was on duty. Bobbie rushed over to Brenda. One of the nurses asked Bobbie if they could use a certain form of pain medication and Bobbie checked in her charts.
B: “ No, we can’t use that, Brenda is pregnant.”
S: “ What do you mean Brenda is pregnant?”
B: “ That’s right Sonny, Brenda is in fact two months pregnant. That’s what her chart says.” Lois and Ned have arrived to hear this and they are shocked as well. Lois walks over to Sonny and tries to comfort him.
L: “ Shh…Sonny, it’s going to be okay. She’s going to be fine.”
S: “ I don’t know about that Lois, I have hurt the woman that I love and the child that we created from our love.”
L: “ Sonny, you didn’t know about the baby. It wasn’t your fault.”
S: “ I don’t know what I’ll do if I lose her Lois.” Sonny burst into hysterical sobs and Lois held him in her arms.

Chapter 7

Brenda faded in and out of consciousness for most of the evening and Sonny was always by her side when she woke up. She was so worried about the baby. She hadn’t even gotten to her second trimester yet and it was very easy for her to miscarry the baby. She didn’t know whether Sonny knew about it or not because he hadn’t told her about knowing the truth. Brenda looked down at herself and noticed bleeding. She started screaming and Sonny woke up from his brief nap.
S: “ Sweetheart, what’s wrong?”
B: “ Sonny, I’m bleeding! I’m losing our baby!”
S: “ Oh my God! It’s going to be alright sweetie, I’m going to go get the doctor.”
Bobbie came in and examined Brenda.
Br: “ Bobbie, you have to save my baby. This baby can’t die.”
B: “ Don’t you worry Brenda, we’re going to do everything that we can to save the baby.”
Brenda started sobbing hysterically.
B: “ Brenda, you need to try and relax, getting upset isn’t going to help the baby.”
Br: “ It’s hard to do so but I love this baby and I want to keep it alive.”
Brenda tried very hard to remain calm and Sonny soothed her.
S: “ Sweetheart, this baby has you and me for parents so that tells you that it will fight for it’s life with everything in it.”
B: “ I know Sonny. I love this baby so much. It is as much a part of me as my own arms and legs.”
S: “ I know baby and I know that he or she is going to fight.”
B: “ I love you so much. Do you hate me for keeping this pregnancy from you?”
S: “ I could never hate you. I love you too much to hate. I liked to think that I hated you after the wire but I never could make myself hate you.”
B: “ I was the same way. I tried to hate you after I found out about you and Lily but I never could, no matter how hard I tried.”
S: “ We’re quite a pair, aren’t we Brenda?”
B: “ We sure are. We fight like crazy and we also love like crazy.”
S: “ I used to love fighting with you because that would mean that we would get to make up and I loved making up with you.”
B: “ Me too honey. I love you. I love all of you, I love your stubborness and I love the way that you brood. You look so sexy when you brood. I love your smile, especially the way that your dimples flair at me. I love the way that your eyes light up whenever you see me. I just love you completely.”
S: “ I can say the same about you. I have loved you since that day in the car dealership. I couldn’t take my eyes off of you and I knew that I didn’t stand a chance in fighting my feelings for you.”
B: “ Sonny, I know that you can never forgive me for the wire but I would like to give us another try, if not for us then for the baby’s sake.”
S: “ I agree, Brenda. I can learn to forgive you. I have forgiven you but I don’t know if I can forget. I can try but I can’t guarantee that I can forget.”
B: “ All I’m asking for is a chance.”
S: “ I love you Brenda.”
B: “ I know. I want you to know that I love you with everything in me and that I’m sorry for wearing that wire, you can’t know how sorry I am.”
S: “ I know sweetheart. I think that you better get some rest now.”
B: “ Okay, Sonny will you come back tonight?”
S: “ Of course sweetheart. “ Brenda fell asleep with a smile on her face and Sonny headed out to find some answers about Brenda’s hit and run accident.
