Foreword: This one is personal, but I think it's funny. The background on it is this: I was in my Origins of Language class and we were doing a lot of dictionary work online with the OED. I think it was maybe 11 or 12 of us signed in at the time within our class and the site shut down. A screen popped up telling us that too many users were logged in. The latter part of the email refers to the fact that Jewell was named Liberal Arts College of the Year by TIME magazine. Just a little boastful college humor for you.
John Young, director of Curry Library, traced the problem by calling OED this morning about 7:30.  We have a site license, which means that all 1000 of our students should be able to use it at the same time if they choose.

The problem was a router at Stanford University which was down.  Ah, I feel so sorry for the research institutions which cannot keep up with the demands of the best liberal arts college in the country.  SomeTIMEs we will just have to slow down, so Stanford, Texas, Chicago, etc. can catch up!

Thanks, John
