National Disaster Area

Everything was covered in ice. The power was out for days. No TV, no e-mail, no heat.  It was a huge disaster in my book (yes I realize there are far worse things that could have happened). At any rate, living in a house that was covered in ice and surrounded by ice, let me just tell you that it was pretty nippy. Anyway, I took some pictures to "freeze" the moments. (Ha!) Some of them are pretty dark, but it's ice I swear!

This was our make-shift refrigerator during the storm. My mom said the milk tasted really nice and cold.
The tops the trees pretty much broke out. There was a lot to pick up after the ice melted.
Here's another look at it. See the branches on the ground there?
This used to be a tree. Two years ago lightning struck it and it turned into a bush. Look at all the branches from the tree across the street. I couldn't sleep because I kept hearing the cracking.
Everything was covered in ice. Bushes. Grass. The sidewalk. The driveway. Everything.
This is the neighbor's house. Check out the iced grass and chainlink fence.
This is the ice I chipped off my car. It took me over an hour to get it all off, and even then there was still ice. It was an inch thick. I probably would have been inside the car a lot sooner if I would have realized it was locked. I just thought it was iced up. But noooo!
I can't stress it enough. There was ice everywhere! I tried to cover up my windshield with that blanket so ice wouldn't cover it too badly. It worked, but it was all wet when I took it off. So I set it aside. It froze to the brick. Oops. Also, I fell on those steps there. Just like skating.
