Situation: Your character enters a 10'X10' room containing a goblin that is guarding a locked chest. Lawful Good This character will question the reason for the goblin's presence, the contents of the chest, and the details of the surrounding area. He will not try to steal the chest, but may offer to purchase the chest. If he needs the chest, he may be willing to pay a large sum to get it. Although he may find goblins distasteful, this goblin has done nothing to deserve punishment. When returning to town, the character will probably report to the goblin to the authorities in the hope of helping the community understand this new and interesting development. Lawful NeutralSimilar to above. He will probably inquire as to the goblin's motives and try to discern details about the quest at hand. He may even consider bribing the goblin to give him the chest or convince it to cease guarding and let him have it. Upon reaching town, there is little chance of reporting the goblin unless there is a standard procedure to do so or that there is evidence that it may benefit someone. Lawful EvilThis character will try to get as much information out of the goblin without giving up any of his own. If the LE player decides that he wants the chest, he could choose to try to simply take it. He may try to fool the goblin into ceasing guarding the chest or try to intimidate it into going away. This character will see nothing wrong with deceiving the goblin or using force to get his way. When he reports the goblin, he may alter the facts so as to either make himself seem heroic or to convince people to harass the goblin. Neutral GoodThe NG character will probably ask the goblin what it is doing in the room and why. He will probably also inquire if the goblin knows anything about the area that can further his quest. He may report the goblin if the information could help the local community. NeutralThe neutral character will greet the goblin and ask what it is doing in the area. They would also ask for information that may help their quest, and will pay a bribe if the goblin insists. If the goblin is willing to sell the chest, they will pay a fair price. On return to town, they would report the goblin if there is evidence that the report could benefit the community. Neutral EvilThe NE character will try to take advantage of the goblin. He will either intimidate the goblin into giving up the chest or try to trick it into giving up information about the local area. He may simply ignore the goblin unless he thinks that there is truly something of value in the chest. On returning, the character will report the goblin if the report can make him look good. Chaotic GoodThe CG Character will probably ignore the goblin unless he has a specific interest in goblins. He may inquire about the chest if the character thinks that the chest holds something important to the player's quest. If the character wants the chest, he is willing to trade fair value for it. On return to town, he will only report it if reporting will benefit himself or the community. Chaotic NeutralThe CN Character will probably ignore the goblin unless he is looking for a chest or has issues with goblins. The character will trade if the goblin lets him look in the chest to see if it is worth trading for. If the goblin won't part with it for a reasonable price, the character may try to haggle or convince the goblin to reconsider. Upon return, the character won't report the goblin, but will probably complain about the little whelp while drinking at the bar. Chaotic EvilThe CE Character will inquire about the chest, and ask about the immediate area. They will use trickery or threats to get their way. As a last resort, they would consider killing the goblin and claiming that the goblin attacked them first. On returning, the character will probably keep the informaiton about the goblin to themself, unless they can find a way to profit from it. |
