Session 4: Break-In at the Cracked Crock Pot
  • Late in the evening, the group woke up to a frightful disturbance outside of their rooms. When they tried to open their doors, they found that the doors had been stealthily nailed shut by intruders. Fearful for the Brimbletons, the group smashed their way out into a dark, unlit hallway. They heard muffled screams coming from the Brimbleton's master bedroom and saw that all the doors in the hall were similarly jammed. As they rushed oto their aid, good fortune and a watchful eye enabled them to notice that the floor outside their doors was littered with razor sharp caltrops. The group quickly cleared the hall by shuffling their feet and advanced towards the Brimbleton's room.
  • As they burst into the Brimbleton's room, the group was waylaid by a small group of burglars who had tied up the brimbletons as hostages. A bloody fight ensued, with Ivaeleous and Clas cutting the villians down after suffering wounds of their own. The halfling and Kyte jumed out of their window to try to get back into the house through a lower door and not have to travel through the trapped hallway. They were immediately pinned dowm by crossbow fire coming from the rooftops. The pair circled around the building and assaulted the snipers by bravely scaling the side of a nearby building. A rooftop battle ensued, where one sniper was slain and the other narrowly escaped.
  • The halfling and Kyte then returned to the inn and burst through the rear entrance. They were met by Niclaus and Kaylen, who had traveled downstairs to investigate the sounds of objects being hurled about the inn. In the kitchen, they discovered three more ruffians rifling through the cupboards. After one of them was struck down in combat, the other two quickly surrendered.
  • On questioning, the group learned that the burglars were after a cookbook, but the Brimbletons claimed not to have any cookbooks. It seemed to have been a carefully planned job. All suspects had maps of the inn’s surroundings and “iltuk birdare” in dwarven drawn on their forarms. While the captives have not volunteered any information and have yet to be interrogated, it was suggested that they might be working for a third party going by the name Rufus.
