Uthmere is ruled by a wealthy aristocracy that effectively dominates life in the city. Guilds of Uthmere
The guilds of Uthmere run the day-to-day economy of the small bustling city. The members of each guild tend keep to themselves and stick to their ward, but most people travel to one of the city's three market squares at least once each day.
Druids of the Great Dale
The countryside east of Uthmere is ruled in fact by the Circle of Leth. Together with their ranger allies, the Circle is looked to by the locals of the Dale to provide guidance in farming and logging, settle disputes, and keep the growing power of the city in check. Most locals despise the "city folk" of Uthmere, and neither folk consider each other as countrymen.

The Shadowmasters
All citizens of the Great Dale are wary of the growing power of the Shadowmasters, a vast thieve's guild rumored to pull the strings of the government in Thesk. The Witches of Rashemen
To the East, the Witches of Rashemen have maintained the undisputed rule of their country. With the current truce and reduciton of hostilities between Rashemen and Thay, the masked witches have been spotted with increasing regularity in lands outside of Rashemen. Many fear that now that Rashemen does not have to place all of its efforts towards defending against Thay, the mysterious witches may have plans for their neighbors.

The Church of Tyr
With the ascencion of Lord Uthlain to the seat of Uthmere's Lordship, the Church of Tyr has gained considerable power in the city. Lord Uthlain has granted an official charter to the Church of Tyr, making it the patron faith of Uthmere. Many locals have grumbled at this, as they fear oppression of their own faiths. The church has recently enacted a program of expansion, spreading the faith of Tyr into the neighboring villages. Many are waiting for the inevitable conflicts that are expected between the clerics of Tyr and druids of the Circle of Leth, but the Druids have been strangely absent of late.
