Uthmere
- Built where the Dalestream meets the Easting Reach, Uthmere is easily the largest settlement in all the Great Dale. The river is shallow but not navigable, and a stone breakwater protects the small but bustling harbor. Most of Uthmere's inhabitants are not from the dale, but hail from Impiltur, Damara, and Thesk. For centuries, various Impilturian Lords have ruled the city in one form or another. Although Impiltur is nominally an independant city, the lordship of the city remains an Impilturian title.
- The current lord of Uthmere is Lord Uthlain, a recent appointee of Queen Sambryl and the Lords' Council of Impiltur. Lord Uthlain lives in a gray stone palace above the harbor. The city of Uthmere is run by a secretive Council of Lords, the identities of whom noone but lord Uthlain knows. Some locals joke that Uthmere is beginning to fancy itself as some sort of Waterdeep of the East.
- The city is devided roughly into about twenty wards, each ward forming a neighborhood of similarly aligned buisnessess and tradesmen. The economy of Uthmere is largely controled by the powerful trade guilds that dominate each of these wards. Despite the economic power of these guilds, all of the land in Uthmere is owned by the wealthy families that form the city's aristocracy. This leaves the guilds in constant conflict with the ruling aristocracy over issues of trade, rent, and the administration of the cities laws.

Keelbast
- The closest city to Uthmere is Keelbast, an Impilturian port city across the Easting Reach. Keelbast was the sister city that Uthmere was modeled after, but Keelbast has fallen upon hard times as of late. In mid-Kythorn of this year, a massive underground explosion rocked the city and collapsed it's elaborate sewer system. The collapse resulted in the near-total destruction of a third of the city as the harbor rushed in to flood the crater.
- Keelbast is steadfastly trying to recover, but disease and other hardships have multiplied in the wake of this disaster. As a result, many of the city's wealthier inhabitants have fled to Uthmere to wait out these most recent troubles.
