| I used this to strip all of the flat surfaces on the house....clapboard and shake shingles....at first I was not pleased with the result, but come to find out it was more a touch and feel thing....By the time I finished the first side of the house, I was left with very little sanding.....The company now sells a product the is a combination tool, (both shaver and sander), however if you want to save some money, do as I did and go out a buy a 4" angle grinder and put a sander attachment pad on it for about $10. I have ended up using it on the shake shingles alone. I use 24 or 36 grit paper first then finish with 80 grit....does a great jot taking the paint off of shake type shingles and removes very little wood in the process.
