Introduction:
During
an FM radio discussion on the problem, I had a discussion on it with my
students who expressed interest in finding out our. Collaborative group
had already discussed the problem.
A
questionnaire was developed with the help of students and lesson plan drawned
by the teachers. The lesson was successfully carried out and students went
out for the data.
What
Went Well: Student’s
participation was excellent. They did understand the project and helped
in all aspects. Unexpected
Problems: We
had in mind to allow students to enter their findings (results) directly
on the computer so that they could be analyzed automatically. This was
a problem because of time factor. Classroom
Organization: Organization
schemes worked. Using my experience in the student/computer ratio discussed
in e-learning, students had enough time to finish their work. This made
the participation of students very helpful. Suggested
Changes: 1.The
time for the project was though enough I did not start early. Any body
who wants to try this should not take the time for granted. 2.Students
must be well organized when going out for the data else they may cause
some kind of disturbances. 3.Students
were very interested in the work but I realized they were ignoring other
duties. Students must not be allowed to use all their time on the project. Feedback: Students
were cooperative and wanted the project to continue. Some members of the
community however did not understand what students were doing and considered
their activity as a nuisance. Other teachers however supported the work
and commended. Some teachers even expressed interested in taking part in
the project at one point. The head of Art department gave very good remarks.
Administrators were happy with the work..They however reminded us from
time to time to do all our duties as well. Assessment: Students
were assessed on two occasions. 1.When
they were given some paint types to work on , in the laboratory. 2.When
they computed the percentages using the excel .Yes students were fast on
learning with technology. Nurudeen
