Software
engineer, interested in helping people find creative
solutions to complex problems. Expertise in coding Java,
creating tools, and configuring FileMaker Pro relational
databases. Enjoy writing PostScript; designing charts,
graphs, and diagrammatic forms (want to improve the
visual/graphic presentation of technical information).
Currently immersed in Perl programming, thinking
object-oriented. Prefer Macintosh over other platforms.
Ride a GoldWing motorcycle, mountain bike, fly a
Space 27 paraglider (when it's not so foggy at Pacifica),
enjoy hiking around at Castle Rock State Park (did the big
loop, all four rocks including the waterfall and apple
orchard, in less than three hours). Preparing to plant a
batch of Early Girl tomatoes this spring.
Favorite music: "Dancing Days (are here again, summer
evenings grow)" - Led Zeppelin. Favorite movie: "Broadcast
News" - Holly Hunter. Favorite fiction: "Sirens of Titan" -
Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. Favorite fantasy: "Great Divorce" -
C.S.Lewis. (Did get divorced once; won't do that again!)
Favorite TV: Simpsons and Seinfeld reruns, ( although I plan
to miss them during the next National Abstain-From-TV Week).
Manage my coffee consumption by drinking a lot of water.
Compelled to explore thrift stores for good books to buy
cheap.
Favorite quote by Tom Peters: "Life is pretty simple:
You do some stuff. Most fails. Some works. You do more of
what works. If it works big, others quickly copy it. Then
you do something else. The trick is in the doing something
else. You must take potshots at today's star before you are
mimicked. Today's radiantly blooming flowers are tomorrow's
mulch. Don't forget that for a moment. But don't think about
it too long, either."
When in bed at night, in those last few moments before
falling asleep, I can't help but wonder what marvels lie ahead, in store for us all.
