It was a cold and rainy day... I know, that's not very original, but I didn't feel very inspired today. For one thing, there was the weather - cold, damp, overcast. And for another, I had to get up way too early to be here.

Finding the parking lot was interesting, if only because the sign at first parking lot indicated that it was not to be used by motorized vehicles. But it failed to mention what types of vehicles could park there. I suppose it might have been for bicycles (?) and horse-drawn carriages.

I also don't remember much of the trail from today, except that most of it was muddy again. Part of it ran along behind a golf course, and part of it ran along a canal, in which we discovered a car wreck. There was no road anywhere near the car, so it must have traveled down the canal a ways before getting here. After walking along a ways, the trail took a surprising turn... downwards. This was a nice place to stop for lunch - I thought - but we decided to hike a little further before resting. As it turns out, this was a very wise decision.

We soon entered into the city of St Catharines, and were walking through a parking lot, looking for a place to eat, when it started hailing. Two of the guys were ahead of us, and they actually kept going until one of of them got hit on the head with a huge hailstone, and then they both ran for cover under a bridge.

Luckily, the hailing stopped - as suddenly as it came - and we were able to continue our trek. But we all decided it was time to rest. So we stopped in the donut shop along the way and had lunch. Then it was all (or mostly) uphill from there, through the residential streets of St Catharines, until we finally arrived at Brock University and our ride home.
