HealthNet; Woodland Hills, CA
Develop and maintain application development and quality assurance infrastructure (OpenVMS platform). Release management.
DirecTV; El Segundo, CA
Developed intranet web site using a variety of technologies, including Microsoft Team Services®, ASP, VBScript, IIS, HTML. Developed application availability reporting software, application performance monitoring software, project tracking system.
Pacificare; Cypress, CA
Performance modeling and analysis of batch processing to support 100% increase in volume. Web page development, system to improvements of many applications included I/O system tuning (including disk striping and shadowing), RMS file tuning and use of deferred write, 'task scheduler' prioritization, code redesign, and implementation of Polycenter Scheduler. Implementation and post-implementation duties included systems support, production support, resource management, project management, and capacity and performance monitoring. Acted as liaison between systems programming, computer operations, and applications development with regard to the capitation system. Acted as lead on backup optimization project.
HealthNet; Woodland Hills, CA
Assisted the applications department with the new inhouse-written capitation system. Pre-implementation duties included design and execution of a performance stress test, interpreting results, proposing and implementing methods to improve performance, and capacity planning. Performance improvements included I/O system tuning (including disk striping and shadowing), RMS file tuning and use of deferred write, 'task scheduler' prioritization, code redesign, and implementation of Polycenter Scheduler. Implementation and post-implementation duties included systems support, production support, resource management, project management, and capacity and performance monitoring. Acted as liaison between systems programming, computer operations, and applications development with regard to the capitation system.
Information Concepts Inc.
Billing system design and development. Client-server application development in Forté. Software distribution design and development.
Network Telephone Services; Woodland Hills, CA
Designed and developed client-server application to monitor real-time processes over decnet. Configured DEC WANServer 500 (X.25). Production 'infra-structure' and software implementation methodology. Implemented client-server redundancy minimizing downtime.
Xerox Computer Services; Culver City, CA
Primarily acted as OpenVMS expert in a multi-platform software development environment. Designed and developed software distribution system using vmsinstal utilities and dcl for their Chess product. Performed system management and capacity planning duties.
AirTouch Cellular; Irvine, CA
As a consultant for a cellular phone service, I worked with the Technical Planning group in performing system management duties including day to day problem solving, VMS tuning, capacity planning, hardware and software installation and evaluation, DBMS tuning, RMS file tuning, I/O sub-system balancing of disk farm consisting of over 400 disks and 15 HSC70's, installed and deployed disk striping. Special projects: Enhanced serial data communications between VAX and cellular switch. Installed many VAX products including VMS 5.4-2, RDB, DECForms, DBMS, DSNLink, Target Hotline, and Pacerlink. Team member of several task forces. Assisted in datacenter relocation. Automated SPM reports. Planned CPU/cluster reconfiguration. Evaluated use of RAID, solid state, and optical disk technologies. Automated chargeback accounting reports. Developed QA environment tools. Enhanced software configuration control procedures. Reverse-engineered DBMS after-image journal file and used it to maintain a parallel RMS database.
1980 - 1990 MAXICARE HEALTH PLANS, INC.
