| "So how did Good For Nothing get to the point the band is at today?" you mite ask. Well heres a little history of GFN: In late 2000-early 2001, Tom(me) and Plic started a little band with good friends Mike Lynch and Drew Lecompt, with me playing bass, Drew and Mike on guitars and Plic actually tricked us into thinking he could play drums. We had one official practice at Drew's uncle's house, other than that, we just basically hung out in Lynch's attic. Plic soon realized he couldn't play drums and picked up a guitar, we would go to the Lynch attic, me n Plic would sit around n play blink-182 songs while Drew n Lynch would play Led Zepplin and things of that nature. Eventually we all figured this wasnt working and that finished Phase 1 of what would become GFN. Phase 2 started when me n Plic went over Scott's house in the summer of 2001 and Scott became our drummer. (Me n Scott had been practicing together for several months). So in Sept. of 2001, Bill Quinn of the now defunct Under Estimated offered us an opening spot on their show at Club HP on Oct. 11th; we had one problem: no lead singer. So Bri Kehl casually stepped into the band after this conversation transpired between Plic n Bri on the way home from school: Plic:"yeah we got this band, and we got a show set up but we got no singer" Bri:"I'll sing for ya's" Plic:"OK, your in" So we played that show with Bri singin and Mike Lynch popping up again to play backup guitar for a few selct songs. That was the end of Phase 2. Phase 3 was considerably short, Stephen Fanelli, good friend of Bri, came in for our 2nd show at HP to play backup guitar on a few songs. This 5-man lineup was short-lived. Bri soon quit in Feb. of 2002, and GFN came to be the 4-piece band it is today w/ Plic on Guitar and Vocals, Tom on Bass and Vocals, Stephen on Guitar, and Scott on Drums. The current lineup played our first show at Club HP in March of 2002 with me n Plic singing. This was the show when the Police had to come and shut us down for being too loud, this remains the band's finest moment. We were banned from ever plaing HP again and we did stay away for a good year or so. ( but We're back there now!! HAHA, suck on that, Club HP!!) ) On the ride home from that show,, me and Stephen agreed "Holy shit, I guess we're a real band now". GFN has gone on to play such classy places as Frosty's Saloon, bowling alleys, swim clubs, and skating rinks in addition to Church halls. We have 2 full-length albums done, our first cd is self-titled, and our latest "Don't Ask, Don't Tell", the All You Can Eat EP(our 3 song demo), and we are going to be on Volume 5 of Sounds of the Underground(put out by Ground Control Recording). Check the ALBUMS page. We hope to keep on growing and build a large fanbase, so have pity on us and try to support Good For Nothing!! OK so there has been a change in the band lineup and i guess i should update this history section. After our show on Mischief Nite, Steven left GFN. We're still good friends, but we no longer band-mates. However, Steven will always considered an important part to the growth of this band. His void has been filled by Bill Quinn (formerly of UnderEstimated) They gave GFN our first couple of shows back in 2001. The boys of UE are calling it quits so Kev Magee can join the United States Marines (good luck Kev!) So Bill is now on guitar and we are sounding better than ever!!! We're really glad to have him in the band. We're gonna be recording a new CD relatively soon (Spring or Summer of 2004 maybe?!?) So look out for that and look out for GFN to expand and start playing more shows all over the Philadelphia area. PEACE! |
