| Do I have to send all reports to my Facilitator, even the reports that will not be graded? How will my Facilitator know if I've done all the rest of the reports? The only reports you should send to your Facilitator are the reports listed on the Grading Policies page. Your Facilitator will, however, answer questions on any report that you transcribe, not just the reports that are graded. This is your medical transcription course and it's up to you whether you do all the work. I feel like I'm cheating when I look at the solutions. Shouldn't I try to do the work and not look at the answers? If you were taking this course in a classroom setting, then you would not have the solutions to guide you, and you would transcribe the reports as best as possible using the knowledge you gained from classroom work and discussions. However, in an on-line course, when you don't have the face-to-face contact with your instructor and you have to do much of the work on your own, you need the solutions by which to proof your transcribed reports. Your Facilitator will also answer any questions you have about any of the reports you transcribe. The best way to transcribe the reports in this course is to follow the directions in the student instructions in the student information documents. By following the steps, this will help you learn how to hear the different ways words are pronounced. It really is okay to look at the answers! May I use references other than the ones provided by GES? Yes, you may use any reference books you have. You may also use the spell check on your computer to help you with spelling words. If I have a question about punctuation, grammar, style, or a word while I'm transcribing a report, should I ask the question before I send the report for grading or after I send the report? Ask the question BEFORE you send your report to be graded. Your report should be as correct as possible before being sent to your Facilitator for grading. Is the final exam open book? Yes, the final exam is open book. It covers all materials in the course, including the Hillcrest textbook, student information documents, the GES web site, and the transcribed reports. If I make less than 85 on my final exam, will I fail the course? Please see the Grading Policies for an explanation of how your grades are counted and what is considered passing. |
