Cape Split & Bay of Fundy
Nova Scotia
Aug 4, 2001 (Saturday)
We arrive in Halifax around noon, and we pick up our rental.  A 2001 White Oldsmobile Intrigue, which actually turned out to be okay.  We immediately drove northwards toward the Bay of Fundy, a place where the tides are the highest in the world.  We stop near Wolfville, and head for a place called Cape Split and it's supposed to have an awesome view.  (It does).  After 16 kilometre hike through the woods, this is what we see...
Cape Split is between the Minas Basin and the Bay of Fundy, and we're standing a couple of hundred feet above the water. Being afraid of heights, I naturally sit right out on the edge, but I don't recommend it.  It's supposed to be pretty dangerous on the edge as erosion has weakened the cliffs.  The actual point is "split" from the peninsula due to the tidal action.
This is me taking a rest, about 2 minutes away from the most amazing view.
Yeah, but what about the tides...
Click the pictures on this page for hours of fun (click back to return) and then hey, click the pictures again...

Well, no pictures of tides as they're not much to take pictures of, but here's some boats that several hours ago were floating on the water.

Here's the TIDAL FLATS at Five Islands Provincial Park near Parrsboro.  I ran into a couple digging for clams, and they were kind enough to let me borrow their shovel.  Pretty simple, you look for air holes, and take a really big scoop, and BAM...you have a clam!!!
