Finally, what concerned me most about VMI's all-male culture was some of the behavior it fostered in the school's barracks. Prior to the arrival of women, cadets would often say that VMI's barracks was the biggest fraternity house in Virginia, known for crude behavior, rough language, and an atmosphere in which women were viewed primarily as sex objects.
