The Porsche 911 Targa was redefined in this model year: instead of the conventional permanently-fixed roll-over bar, the Targa was given a large glass roof. The big central roof section retracted under the rear window. The roof also contained an electrical roll blind which could be activated as protection against sunlight or the cold. Lateral steel supports ensure safety in the event of the car overturning. This new model was only available with rear drive.
