Porsche started to build a new generation of 911's in the new pressing plant in Zuffenhausen in Autumn 1988. This new plant was situated on the other side of the B 10. Cars were transported to the paintshop over a protected high bridge by means of a conveyor belt. The new car body was fitted with rounded bumpers, sill strips and an automatic extending rear spoiler.
