The M-Class was originally launched in the USA in the fall of 1997 before being premiered in Europe in the spring of 1998. In early 2000 a new model was added to the line-up, this model featured the 'AMG' badge on the bootlid which means nothing else than performance. This ML55 AMG featured the same engine a 5.5lt V8 with 347bhp as found in the CL55 and E55 AMG models. A number of skillfully integrated design elements serve to underscore the original character of the ML 55 AMG. Particularly striking are the two 'power domes' on the hood which echo the Mercedes SLK roadster.
