     Injuries
Unfortunately due to the size of a gerbil, there is very little that can be done when a gerbil gets injured.  Most injuries will heal up, but may take a couple of weeks.

Applying bandages and cream: It is not worthwhile attempting to attach a bandage to a gerbil wound (e.g. from fighting).  The gerbil will only try to chew it off.  Another danger would be that in the process of removing the bandage, the gerbil could damage the wound further.  Gerbils will also usually lick off any cream applied to raw skin etc...  Make sure that the cream is non-toxic.

If your gerbil has a major injury around the eyes, stomach, or neck it is best to visit a vet.  DO NOT try to "operate" or fix the problem yourself because this could lead to the injury being fatal.  If your gerbil is in a lot of pain (a lot of blood, maybe a few broken bones), immediately bring him/her to a vet to see what he/she says about putting the gerbil to sleep.
