The Dogue de Bordeaux is a massive,powerfully built dog.The dog has a very muscular
body.Has the appearance of an athlete,imposing and proud,demanding respect.
SIZE:
Males:60-68 cms weight is at least 50 kgs
Bitches:58-66 cms weight at least 45 kgs
HEAD:
The forehead of the Dogue de Bordeaux dominates the face,yet is stil wider than high.The
skull of male dogs,the perimeter of the skull measured at the level of its greatest
width corresponds to the height at the withers.In the female,it may be slightly less.
The nose is broad,well-opened nostrills,well pigmented black or brown according to the mask.A turned up nose is permitted.
The eyes are oval and set well apart.Hazel to dark brown for a dog with a black mask.A lighter colour tolerated in dogs with a red mask.
The ears are relatively small and should be high set and short,not falling too far below the eye.
The Dogue de Bordeaux has a undershot bite.The jaws are very powerful and broad.The teeth are strong.The lips are thick,moderately pendulous,retractable,rounded over the lower jaw.
BODY:
The chest is powerful,well ribbed up,broad,let down deeper than the elbows.Powerful forechest and shoulders.Topline is straight,with a broad,muscular back.Withers well defined.
The tail is very thick at the base.The tip does not reach below the hock.Carried low,deeply set.
COAT AND COLOUR:
Solid colour of reddish brown,or in the range of the fawn shades.Small white patches on the chest and feet are allowed.The coat has fine hair,short and soft to the touch.
