Chapter 2
Kynoto the Wanderer
In the village of Syoko; a man named Kynoto was in a store stocking up for a long trip.  He bought some rice balls, tofu, matches for a fire, and a map of the surrounding area.  As he was looking around the shop he saw a videophone that had been salvaged from the calamity that had befallen the people of Earth.  Kynoto looked up to the shop keeper and said,

You have some mighty relics around here.

So do you.  That sword you have must be at least two hundred years old, the shopkeeper said in a wondrous tone.

This sword was given to me by my father.  The only thing I have left of him and it is the only heirloom of my family.  He handed it to me and said to use it wisely, then walked off in the morning mist and I have never seen him since, Kynoto replied, looking off into space as if thinking deeply about something.  The shopkeeper said lazily, breaking the silence,

Well we have many of those and others like it, heirlooms I mean.  Kynoto paid for his things and was about to walk out the door when he over heard two gentlemen in the back of the store talking about a strange event.

Yea, and that man that stood up to him, wasnt his name Wantene? he heard one man say and the other reply,

Yes, yes, that was his name.  Poor fool, to go and get himself killed brutally like that.  Kynoto approached the shopkeeper and asked, his mind running wild,

What are those two men talking about?  The shopkeeper looked at him and said in a surprised tone he said,

You mean you havent heard of what happened two years ago on this very day?

No, I havent, Kynoto replied sharply.

Well, as I have heard it, there was a town about oh, some twenty miles east of here.  A town named Sykoto, it use to be our counterpart village.  Then, he appeared; the devil himself; Triasha.  It was said that he destroyed the town in only eight minutes.  It is also said that only one man tried to stop him; a man, that went by the name of Wantene if I remember correctly.  He died for his attempt and had every bone ripped from his body, the shopkeeper told Kynoto, who was listing intently.

WHAT!!  That is where I am headed.  It is my home town, and Wantene is my brother, Kynoto replied in disbelief.  Kynoto ran out of the shop and he headed toward Sykoto.

The first town he came to on the map was Mynoto, a port town, thick with commerce and trading.  As he came into that town, he saw a bright flash off in the distance and immediately continued on.  As he arrived at the place where he saw the flash; there was naught but rubble and carnage.  This had once been the city of Kertsoph, but now it was little more then a pile of ruble.

He has been here, Kynoto thought as he walked over what was left of the city.  He continued on until he got to the area that Sykoto should have been, but all he found was a gigantic crater.  He was searching threw some of the ruble that wasnt destroyed when he found a piece of his mothers skirt.  He began to cry, he hadnt expected to come home to this, to see his parents, his brother, and all of his friends killed.  He got up and was about to leave when the ground started to shake.  Kynoto took a look at the crater to see, to his dismay, a monster walking out of it.  Ahh, this must be that thing the shopkeeper yelled at me as I left; the Obsidian monster, Kynoto said as he unsheathed his blade.  This sword was no ordinary sword, on the contrary.  It was a Shigathian sword, one of the finest quality; perfectly balanced in both weight and speed.  It was unbelievably sharp and could cut through almost anything.  The hilt was made of pure gold and was encrusted with emeralds and rubies that were lined with silver and platinum.  Kynotos sword had a special quality that separated it from the rest of these types of swords; it could channel Trianchu through the hilt to the tip, a very deadly ability too.  Kynoto turned to face his foe and was amazed at what he saw.  Kynoto stood about six feet five inches tall, but this monster was at least thrice as tall as he was.  It was made, obviously, of obsidian, a black rock found near volcanoes.  It let out a ground shaking roar as it slammed its fists into the ground, causing a shockwave to travel towards Kynoto, who hastily dodged it and attacked.  Kynoto sword hit the monster and clanged off, not even leaving a scratch.  Hmm?  Whats this?  Well then, something a little stronger then, Kynoto said as he jumped back and raised his sword and put himself into a stance that protected him from every angle.  He stood there, staring the monster down; sword glinting in the sunlight, like a snake with its fangs bared ready to strike at anything that moved.  Then the monster rushed Kynoto, who jumped into the air and swiftly plunged his sword straight into the heart of the beast.  He then sent a powerful blast of Trianchu through the sword, splitting the creature in half.  As the two halves fell to the ground, they disintegrated, leaving a light green stone behind.  Kynoto picked it up and put it into his pocket.  There is a jeweler in Kertsoph, so I will take it to him when I get back, Kynoto thought.

After then encounter with the Obsidian monster, Kynoto was weary.  It took him five days to get back to Kertsoph, and when he did get there, he slept for five days more.  On Tuesday, the 14th of January, 7004, Kynoto awoke.  He got up and got dressed, ate breakfast and headed to the jewelers.

Where did you say you got this stone at again? said the jeweler, as he prospected it through an eyeglass.

I got it from the Obsidian monster I destroyed, Kyoto replied, as he grew impatient.

You killed the Obsidian monster?! the jewelry said, stunned by this piece of news.

Yes, I did, but what is that gem? Kynoto replied, getting more agitated.

Well, this here is a Trianchu stone.  It can give anyone the powers of Trianchu, and strengthen the Trianchu of those who can already use it.  If someone, say Triasha, got a hold of enough of this, they could latterly destroy the world, the jeweler replied hastily as he handed the stone back to Kynoto.

Oh, so that is what this is; a Trianchu stone.  Hmm, this might be useful, said Kynoto as he walked from the shop, starting to wonder just what kind of power Triasha possessed.
