Chapter 1
The Fate of Wantene
It had been many long years now; so many that Wantene had lost count, since he had been sent to this place of nothingness.  It was not unlike the Nether realm, nothing but a bright darkness.  This place, however, had time.  Wantene saw that things that were there when he first came were now in a state of advanced decay.  He was the only thing not affected by this unseen force.  He concluded that he was not technically dead, but in a state of eternal suspension, in a place between Hell, Heaven, and Earth.  A place where he was probably to remain forever.  But then strange things began to happen.  He began to dream and this only added to his insistency that he wasnt dead.  Dead people dont dream.  Whats more was that he was dreaming about Kynoto, who had just had a gracious battle against Shintriasha and had won, but only at the loss of much life which was quite unlike Kynoto, who believed that life could always be spared.  Then there was a stranger, a young, but well built, red headed boy.  He was being held captive on a ship of some sort and was being tortured.  As Wantene thought more about this, all he could think of was questions, but no answers.  He began to search for a way out of the endless void that he had been imprisoned in.

Elsewhere, more pressing things were being done.  Somewhere out in the middle of the Nasigawa Ocean, a sandy-red headed boy was struggling to get a breath of air, as his life was strangled from him.

Ill ask ya only one more time ya scallywag!  What is yer name and where dya hail from? Asked a scraggly man, his voice crackling from the Fire whiskey that he had just drunk.  The boy said nothing as he looked up at the man, his eyes alight with determination.  Well then, if ya wont talk, the whip will do it for ya!  Give him another dose of it! The man shouted at a gangly man to the left of him.  The man pulled a whip from the wall of a cabin and unrolled it.  It was made of the hardest leather you could find and it had small silver blood stained spikes on each of the strands that broke off from the main handle.  The boy winced as he felt the whip come into contact with his back, ripping it open along with several old partly healed scars.  Blood rolled down his back and dripped onto the deck, they could hear the blood hitting the sea salt stained boards.  Still nothin eh? Ok, then bring the sea water and be sure to put extra salt in it.  That should loosen yer lips, The man grunted and he gave the boy a gut wrenching kick.  Soon the air was filled with the boys screams, his pain was on the edge of unbearable when he said,

Wait, stop, please stop!  I will tell you everything.

Ahh, finally.  Now, spill yer guts befer I goes and do it for ya! The man, who the boy had guessed was the captain, said lifting a lethal looking dagger.

My name, the boy stopped for a second, as if he had to think about it, is Rouin, Rouin Haikashi.  I come from a place known to very few, a place called Sykoto or I should say that my distant relatives do, Rouin said reluctantly.

Now that wasnt so hard was it laddy?  Now, where in the blazes is this Sykoto place? The old man said gruffly.  Rouin had now just gotten his first real good look at the old pirate.  He had on an old musty captains hat that had several holes in it, a long white goatee that was braided at the end.  The ship was about in the same condition as he was, old and full of holes.  The crew was endlessly bailing out water from the hull beneath the upper deck.

Sykoto doesnt exist any more to my knowledge.  It was destroyed by a man so evil that Heaven rejected him and Hell spat him back out.  That man was Triasha, wielder of the force known as Trianchu.  But you know, I can use it too, Rouin said, a smug look on his face as the entire crew looked at him, their faces drained of color.

You can use that Triauch or whatever the devil its called? The captain said starting to take small steps backward.

Yes, heh, I can.  But now where are your manners.  I dont even know the name of the Captain of this vessel yet, Rouin said now standing up and walking around.  As he passed the crew members they winced as if he were going to attack them with some unseen force, but Rouin merely enjoyed the change.

O-oh yes, I am Xilot, Capn of the Duran, at yer service, he said with a trembling bow.

Hmm, so that is the name of the ship is it?  The Duran, Captain? Rouin said, stopping in front of the port-side rail.  He turned to Xilot and said, A little rundown isnt it?

Ya, yer righ.  It could use a touch up here and there, but ya know, thas what the sea tends ta do ta these wooden boats.  The salt eats em away from under yer feet if yer not careful, harhar, Xilot said jokingly, trying to brighten the mood.  Say, how abou you tell us what this Trinchu grog is eh?

Alright, Trianchu, Rouin emphasized, trying to get Xilot to know what the proper name for it was, is basically an ability controlled by the users mental powers.  You control it with your mind and it will take the shape of what ever you want it too.  It is also a destructive weapon.  In most cases the amount of Trianchu a person has is affected by the mood of the user but in some special cases, the controller, if her or she can use elemental Trianchu; earth, fire, wind, water, light, and darkness just to name a few, they can summon a catalyst which is usually in the form of a storm.  This catalyst allows the controller to take energy from the catalyst and gain tremendous powers.  If I knew any elemental Trianchu, I could summon one and become thrice as powerful as I am now.  There are several types of Trianchu, colors if you will, besides the elementals which I will get to later.  Now, the color types are black, grey, dark, red, blue, purple, white, yellow, green, and jade.  Now youre all probably thinking, What is he talking about? but it is quite simple.  Each color Trianchu has a different effect when used.  Black, or noir as it is sometimes called, is an attacking Trianchu and if use right, can suck your opponents Trianchu out of him.  Grey is a stronger version of black but it gives the power it steals to you.  Red is the Trianchu of speed and it happens to be my forte.  Blue controls time, you can slow down or speed up time with it.  Purple is a fusion of blue and red.  It was created by Triasha for the sole purpose of cloning.  In other words, it takes the qualities of red and blue and meshes them together, creating a time-travel Trianchu.  You can go to the future or past and retrieve the person, or thing, you are looking for and bring him or her back.  This makes the person brought back stronger then the original person from your time, but it has a twist to it.  If not done correctly, youll get lost in the time stream and eventually you will die.  White, the healing Trianchu, can heal even the worst wounds, even if you are an inch from death it can bring you back.  Yellow allows the user to do things with his or her mind, kind of like telepathy.  Green melds any two attacks of the user, creating a super attack from the two base attacks.  Jade is a relatively new form of Trianchu.  It allows the user to meld all of his or her attacks together resulting in a very strong attack, one that would surely be a one-hit death attack.  Now, elemental Trianchu is different.  It allows you to control the forces of nature itself.  The types are earth, wind, darkness, light, fire, water, lightning, and finally omni.  Now, these work differently because they do not usually have attacks that use them hand if they do, these attacks are usually very strong and extremely high leveled techniques.  These work as so, they allow you to use the element that you summon to enchant any thing that you want.  So if youre fighting a fire monster, you can enchant your weapon to have a water element thus making the fire monster easily destroyable.  To be able to use these, you normally have to form seals, but if Elemental Trianchu is your specialty, you can just same the name of the element and it will be summoned to you.   There are only two people who have ever had that ability, Kynoto and a member of the Woishigate family.  Kynoto, derived from the Hero of Light Kynotoishi, has never used this form though, he is also my brother.  Now there are two special types of Elemental Trianchu, darkness and omni.  Now, darkness is not the same as dark, not by a long shot.  Darkness allows you to summon creature from the underworld such as vampires and zombies.  Now, the strongest form of Elemental Trianchu is omni.  It combines all of the elements except for darkness and forms a deadly kind of Trianchu called Kitosu.  Now Kitosu is extremely dangerous and no one has ever been able to use it, except for Triasha of course, but he lost that power when the Hero of Light defeated him over sixty thousand years ago.  Finally, Trianchu gives the user some benefits.  These include not aging, the ability to almost never die unless there are special circumstances, and the power to save or destroy.  I bet you would never guess that I was actually a member of the original town of Sykoto, which makes me around eight thousand years old, but I have not aged a day due to my Trianchu.  The same goes for Triasha, Kynoto, and Wantene.  Now that we're done, how about some food? Knifes asked to the now astounded crew.

Uhhhfood, yes food.  Time for lunch boys! Xilot said regaining his composure.  Rouin soon whished that he had not mentioned this for pirate food was well below his taste.  The pirates had prepared calamari stuffed with three year old seaweed, which Xilot said gave it a better taste.  Right as Rouin was getting ready to ask a crew member that was sitting beside him a question, he felt something.  It was far off, but it was definitely a Trianchu power of some sort.  Xilot saw him staring intently towards the bow of the ship when he asked,

You spy somethin amiss me hearty?

No, not quite.  I feel an energy, a strong one too, coming from that direction, Rouin said, nodding to the bow-side of the ship.

Ah ha!  An adventure!  Get the boat ready lads, were goin for a little sail!  Get those sails up ya jelly livered mongrels, or Ill be wearin yer guts for garters! Xilot said, jumping up from the table waving his dagger around dangerously, causing mass confusion.  Rouin had the notion that he was going to see what the source of that power was whether he wanted to or not.
