Torpedo Kutaisi  1-0  Dinamo Tbilisi
22nd May
Asatiani, 77pen
The final match of the Georgian championship between Torpedo Kutaisi and Dinamo Tbilisi created a great interest in Georgian football fans. 30,000 people packed into Torpedo Kutaisi's Givi Kiladze stadium in the hope of seeing Torpedo win the Georgian championship for the 3rd year running. Going into the match Torpedo had a 1 point lead over Dinamo Tbilisi and Lokomotiv Tbilisi. So if Torpedo won then they would be champions but any other result and either Dinamo Tbilisi or Lokomotiv Tbilisi could pip them to the championship

The match opened in an exciting manner. In the first few minutes Torpedo had two good chances to score but both shots went wide. Dinamo Tbilisi then came into the match and Vitali Daraselia had two good chances to score but both his shots went agonisingly wide.

After the break Dinamo continued to push forward. First after a brilliant pass from Anchabadze, Burduli blasted wide when he really should of hit the target. Then on  54 minutes Dinamo forward Mikheil Bobokhidze received the ball close to the edge of the Torpedo area, passed the defender with a good piece of skill, went through the penalty area but Torpedo goalkeeper Zviad Sturua made a good save.

Then on 76 minutes the referee pointed to the Dinamo penalty spot after a very questionable and arguable situation when Torpedo's Shota Babunashvili appeared to be tripped in the box. Malkhaz Asatiani stepped up to make it 1:0 to Torpedo. Torpedo held out for the rest of the match to win the Georgian Championhsip for the 3rd year running.

A mass pitch-invasion followed the final whistle as the Torpedo players were held shoulder high. The party soon spilled out into the streets surrounding the stadium as fireworks and flares were set off in celebration.

At the press conference Dinamo's Croatian manager Ivo Susak congratulated opponents and wished to see more and more intensive matches, like Dinamo vs. Torpedo, in Georgian championship. Club director George Pirtskhalava joined him in congratulations and commented about increased tense of the championship.
