| David Gvaramadze is recognised as one of the best Georgian goalkeepers of his generation. Gvaramadze started his career at Dinamo Tbilisi at the age of 15. He never really established himself as no 1 until 1998 when in his second spell at the club after a nightmare season in Latvia for Skonto Riga. Several clubs became interested in Gvaramadze and he signed for Russian premier division side Kryla Sovetov Samara where he stayed for 2 years. Gvaramadze was in and out of the Kryla side and he joined Georgian champions Torpedo Kutaisi on loan at the end of the 2000-2001 season. Gvaramadze had a trial at English premiership side Bolton Wanderers that summer but nothing came of it so he signed for Torpedo Kutaisi for a further 3 years. The following summer Gvaramadze had another trial in the UK with Scottish side Hibernian. Unfortunatly a mixture of Gvaramadze not impressing and Torpedo asking for too high a transfer fee put Hibs off. However in March 2002 Gvaramadze joined Dinamo Tbilisi from Torpedo Kutaisi on a 2 year contract where he will battle with Irakli Zoidze for the Dinamo No1 jersey. However recently Gvaramadze's career has taken somthing of a downturn as he has lost his number 1 spot in the National Team to Georgi Lomaia and the number one Dinamo jersey to Irakli Zoidze. |
