| Georgi Demetradze began his career at small Georgian Club Kakhati Telavi and played for two season there before Dinamo Tbilisi signed him. He stayed at Dinamo for a further 4 seasons scoring 55 goals in 4 seasons before Dutch club Feyenoord signed him at the start of the 1998/99 season. His stay at Feyenood was disrupted by injury and poor form and he left Feyenoord and joined Russain side Alania Vladikavkaz. He scored 14 goals in 15 games in his first season and followed that up with 21 goals in 28 apps in his second season. At the end of the 1999/00 season Dinamo Kiev signed him for �3m from Alania as a replacement for Andriy Shevchenko. Howerver despite a decent scoring record at Dinamo they accepted a bid from Spanish side Real Sociedad of �3m and Georgi moved to Real Sociedad. The start of his Sociedad career was also marred by injury as in his second match he suffered a broken leg. This was particular bad luck as Georgi had begun to establish himself as the regular partner for Shota Arveladze up front in the Georgian national team. Demetradze has recently failed to settle and has been with Lokomotiv Moscow, Alania Vladikavkaz and Metalurh Donetsk over the last year on loan. Demetradze frightens opponents with his pace and skill but too often there is not an end product in front of goal. Demetradze recently returned to Real Sociedad when his loan spell at Metalurh Donetsk ran out however his future is unclear. |
