| FC Dinamo Tbilisi won the Georgian Cup today after beating FC Sioni Bolnisi 3-1 in the final at the Tbilisi Lokomotivi stadium. Dinamo moved into a commanding 3-0 lead by half-time thanks to goals from Otar Khizaneishvili on nine minutes, Vitali Daraselia on 16 minutes and Georgi Anchabadze just before the interval. Shalva Isiani scored the only goal for Sioni 15 minutes before full time. Dinamo therefore lifted the cup for the seventh time in their history, having won it six times in a row between 1992 and 1997. The last time they appeared in a final was in 1998 when they lost 2-1 to a 'golden goal' by FC Dinamo Batumi. Dinamo also have ten championships to their credit but had not won a trophy for four years before today.This result was therefore also a personal triumph for their Croatian head coach Ivo Susak, who took over at the club in the spring of 2002. Dinamo are now on course for a League Championship Victory providing they can beat Sioni on the final day of the season. Sioni, who were in the cup final for the first time in their history, are currently fifth in the league. In the last round of games they face Dinamo again knwoing that if they lose the game Dinamo will win the championship and Sioni will therefore reach the UEFA Cup as cup runners-up.
