| Student Teachers |
| A group of adults you may notice around the Carver Campus might be our student teachers. These adults are currently enrolled at Texas A & M University in Commerce and complete part of their education at Carver under the guidance of mentor teachers. Student teachers come to us during their first semester as interns. These interns spend 2 or 3 days a week on our campus. During this time they are getting familar with the routines and procedures of our campus and classrooms. They are interns for one semester (half of our school year). When they are not on our campus, they are attending class at the university. When the interns return to our campus, after their first rotation, they become residents. The residents are with us full time, however, they do attend regular seminars at the university. Mentor teachers carefully guide them in the art of teaching and oversee their lessons and help them plan. These 'teachers in training' are a vital part of our campus. Please remember that interns and residents are 'teachers in training'. If you have any questions, concerns, or information about your child, please relate this information to your child's classroom teacher. This year we welcome the return of several residents and meet a few interns. Returning to campus this year is Rusty Morris. Mr. Morris will do his residency with Mrs. Teeters in fourth grade and another rotation in a lower grade to be decided when school begins. Joining Mr. Morris' return is Tiffany Walton. Ms. Walton will be mentored by Mrs. Gilbert in reading literacy and Mrs. Hardie in 3rd grade. Ashley Kelesy is another returning resident. She will student teach with Mrs. Downs, kindergarten, and Mrs. Stewart, first grade. Heather Priest is our final resident. She will complete her residency with Mrs. Stewart, first grade, and Mrs. Albritton, kindergarten. We wish these residents good luck as they approach their graduation. In addition to our residents, we welcome our new interns. Our interns for the fall are Ashley Hausman and Taylor Spear. Ms. Hausman will intern with Mrs. White and another teacher to be determined when school begins. Ms. Spear will be guided by Mrs. Hardie, third grade, and Mrs. Gilbert, reading literacy. We wish them all good luck and a wonderful experience at Carver Elementary. |
