| Parents, The flu season is here! With so many of our children becoming ill, the amount of medication being given is on the rise. This is the perfect opportunity to go over our policy concerning medication given at school. The regulations for medication given at school are as follows: 1. All perscription medication to be administered by GISD personnel to individual students must be: a. in the original container with: 1. student's name 2. name of medication 3. directions for administration (dosage, frequency, duration, route of administration) 4. the date the prescripton was dispensed 5. doctor's name 6. name and address of the pharmacy b. accompanied by a parent/guardian written request for administration which does not conflict with instructions on the mediation label. c. a doctor's written statement is required when medication is to be given longer than 10 days. 2. All nonprescription medication to be administered by GISD personnel to individual students must be: a. in original container. b. accompanied by a parent/guardian written request for administration which is not in conflict with label instructions. c. A doctor's statement is required for all non prescription medication. d. Any change in the medication must be accompanied by a parent/guardian and doctor written request. | Rules for Good Health |
| 1. Wash your hands with liquid soap and warm water, then use hand sanitizer to get rid of germs. When soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer by itself. 2. Take a bath or shower daily. 3. Keep cuts and scrapes clean. 4. Avoid contact with people who have a contagious illness. 5. Eat a variety of good, healthful food. 6. Brush your teeth after meals, as well as after waking and before going to sleep. 7. Don't share drinking or eating utensils with others, and don't eat or drink things that other people have already put their hands or mouths on. 8. Get plenty of rest. 9. Do some type of physical activity every day. 10. See your doctor and dentist regularly for checkups. Get the shots you need. |
