| Arrival 1. The building opens at 7:30 am. Staff is on duty at 7:30 to supervise those students who need to arrive early. Breakfast is available to all students at no charge. Please have your student at school before 8:00 if they wish to eat breakfast. 2. Parents driving students to school should be aware that the bus lane at the south side of the building is reserved for buses in the morning. No cars are allowed in the bus lane. Students arriving by car must be dropped off in the front of the building on College Street. Students may only be dropped off at the crosswalk at the main entrance. Staff members will be on duty starting at 7:30 to greet your child and help him/her out of the car. Students may not exit the car before they reach the main crosswalk at the front of the building. There is absolutely no parking on College Street at any time. If you choose to pull into the parking lot instead of driving through the drop-off lane, you must get out of your car and walk your child across the traffic lane. Children are never allowed to cross the drive through lane alone. 3. We request that after the first week of school, parents refrain from walking students to classrooms. During this time, teachers are on duty supervising students. If teachers are visiting with parents during these first few minutes, then students are not sufficiently monitored. If you need to get a message to the teacher, we will be glad to help you in the office. If you have an emergency that requires you to speak with a teacher before his/her conference, please report to the office and we will try to arrange to cover the class so the teacher can be released. Please realize that these rules are for your child's safety. Dismissal 1. Bus pick-up will remain at the south end of the building. . 2. Parents of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade students will pick up their children in the bus lanes located at the south side of the building. Parents should enter on Morgan Street, go past the Boy's and Girl's Club parking lot, and exit south onto College Street. Please remain in ONE lane so that busses can get through. Students will be loaded outside the cafeteria doors by staff. 3. Parents picking up Kindergarten and 1st grade students will pick up at the front of the building using the same procedure as is used in the morning. Please use Walnut, Langford, or Wellington to reach Bourland and turn left onto College Street. In the afternoons, we will load children from two lanes at a time. 4. If you have children in several grades (example: 1st and 3rd), the siblings will be picked up at the site serving the youngest child. 5. If you are walking from your home to the school to pick up your child, please notify the school so we can arrange with you a procedure for dismissing your child. This is for parents who live close by and do not come to pick up in a car. PLEASE DO NOT PARK YOUR CAR AND WALK UP TO GET YOUR CHILD. This causes major delays for everyone. 6. If your child should need to get home any other way than what is on their dismissal plan, please call the school or send a note to school. We will go by their dismissal plan until we hear from YOU! It is our goal to get your children to you in a safe and timely manner. A sign in the front windshield of your car with your child's name on it will help speed up the process.
