Spring Vacation to Southern California 2002

Saturday March 9
- We depart Milwaukee Mitchell Field at 8:20
a.m.
- My first flight is a little bumpy
and we arrive in Minneapolis in the middle of a fierce blizzard.
- Our plane is de-iced and we depart
for the coast
- arrive John Wayne Airport, Orange
County, CA, 3:30 p.m. PST
- Jim & Kathy took us to the
Huntington Beach Pier
- Jim cooked T-bone steeaks on the grill for supper.
Sunday March 10
- Mass at 10 a.m. near Trabuco Canyon
- Jim & Kathy took us to Los Angeles
- We saw Hollywood, Grauman’s Chinese
Theater
- Lunch at California Pizza Kitchens
- Santa Monica Pier
- Jim cooks salmon on the grill
for supper
Monday March 11
- Kathy took us to Palm
Springs
via the Ortega Highway
- We visited the Living Desert
- Lunch at Pub on city street
- Dinner at Trabuco Oaks Steak House
Tuesday March 12
- Kathy took us to Laguna Beach
- Lunch at the Greeters Pub on the
beach
- Played nine holes of golf at Costa
Mesa golf course
- Nick has appendicitis, operation
near midnight
- We order Chinese food for supper
Wednesday March 13
- Kathy off to San Francisco meeting on morning
plane after 2 hours sleep.
- Visit Nick at hospital in the
morning
- Jim takes us to San Juan Capistrano
Mission
- Next it’s to
Long Beach
to tour the Queen Mary
- Visited Nick again in the afternoon.
Thursday March 14
- Jim drops us at Disneyland
at about 10 a.m.
- Lunch at House of Blues
- Most good rides were closed &
lines were too long on others but we had a great time walking around anyway.
- Dinner at the Rainforest Café,
we had the Volcano for dessert
Friday March 15
- Jim and Kathy take us to La Jolla where we
visit the Sunny Jim Sea Cave
- Lunch in La Jolla with beautiful
view of the blue Pacific and the cove
- Seals sunning on the beach in
La Jolla
- In San Diego we visit Coronado
Island and the Hotel Del Coronado where we enjoy a beverage on the verranda
- Dinner at Anthony’s Seafood Grotto
right on the water
- Auto tour of the Gas lamp District
Saturday March 16
- We depart from John Wayne Airport on a noon
flight
- We arrive in Minneapolis and enjoy
dinner at A&W in the airport
- We arrive in Milwaukee at about
8:50 p.m. Geoff drives us home.
