Hardware Presently, I have a 500 MHZ Pentium III desktop with a 20 GB hard drive, DVD, Zip drive and 128 RAM and a 500 MHZ Celeron laptop with 10 GB hardrive, DVD, and 128 RAM. I use the laptop almost all of the time now. I received this for Christmas 2000. I have a Palm Pilot that I synchronize with the Franklin-Covey software.
Software I have both Word Perfect and Microsoft Office, though
I now use Microsoft Office. I now use Office to write my web pages. I use Microsoft Encarta for amy
encyclopedia, though on the web I like britanica.com. I use Microsoft Greetings. I use Microsoft Money. With the laptop,
I have started using powerpoint presentations more, especially as I go to
conferences. This makes it easy
for me to share with the staff or in other settings. I use Kiplinger Tax Cut. I
have not used the gaming features very much, though I have done a bit with Age
of Empires and X-files.
Internet I use Yahoo for my "hub." I also use
msn.com for a different kind of hub, since I use so many Microsoft products. I
have discovered several fun things lately, mostly from my son, Michael. He
exposed me to mp3 files in 1999, and I have enjoyed that process very
much. I have discovered desktop
themes for some of my favorite music artists and other sources. You can find
links elswhere on this site. I have long been able to send faxes. However, I
could not receive them until efax came along, for which I am greatful. I have
downloaded many Christian classic works and placed them in Microsoft Word
format.
My primary project as I begin the year 2001 is to have several web sites that devote themselves to my interest. Geocities will do to things for me: It will provide family and personal interest information and it will provide me an avenue for the resources regarding sermons and other material that I have found helpful for spiritual growth. My intent is develop web sites for my other passionate interests: politics, philosophy, theology, history, and biblical studies.
