History
In 1929, Charles Canfield started a repair service in an old horse
stable behind the
Wurz Hotel on Auert Avenue in North Utica.
As the business
expanded, it outgrew the stable and was moved
to Hotel Street.
Charles Canfield's
son, George Sr., took over the business in 1946
and later moved it
to its present location on Lafayette Street
Under George Sr's.
direction, Canfield's grew to specialize in after-
market radiators,
condensers, heaters and gas tanks.
George Sr. headed
Canfield's until 1987 when he retired after forty-five
years in the
radiator business. He was suceeded by his son, George Jr.,
who runs the
business today.
The younger
George has already accumulated 20 years experience!
Today,
Canfield's carries a full line of aftermarket radiators,
condensers,
heaters and gas tanks for cars, trucks and most every
water-cooled
engine. They can also repair these items when replacement
is not
necessary. Recently, Canfield's added a new service-
They now
repair and recore radiators for the industrial trade.
From its
humble origins in a horse stable, Canfield's has grown to be
a thriving
business in Utica, NY

sure- if their history is any indication, we can expect Canfield's
