Back to the Future and I
All things considered this page probably is superfluous, but I figured...what the Hell ;O)

This is just a short little intro to how I fell in love with Back to the Future, previously my only television love was
The Simpsons and Rugrats, fine examples of programming if there ever were.

But anyway, when I was about 12 or so, my brother and I were very bored and decided what the Hell we'll go through some of the older videos looking for something good to watch and low and behold we came across one labelled in my Dad's impeccable handwriting 'Back to the Future'.

I had only seen Parts II and III and didn't really remember them at all, but my little brother said he had heard it was an 'Ok' movie and he wanted to watch it.

At first I was interested but not enthralled, it was a fun movie, better than most stuff I'd seen, but there was nothing really outstanding about it as far as I could tell...

Eventually though, I really got into the story particularly the scenes with my soon-to-be favourite character of the Triology, George McFly.

Having watched the movie once my brothers were suitably finished with the whole thing (they enjoyed the movie of course, but it was just a movie to them) I meanwhile was obsessed! It didn't take me long to add the tape to my own personal collection and watch it many more times. Eventually I rented Parts II and III from the video store to see the rest of the Triology, which played out very differently to what I remembered. I loved all the movies! Seriously there has never been such a good Triology before or since- I mean most of them time you get to the third film in a franchise and it's crap, but this stuff was pure gold.

Anyway, as much as I loved Parts II and III, my favourite was #1, it was a movie about everything- sci-fi/action/comedy/real-life all the stuff I love seeing in movies. And of course it made the most of my favourite character George!

Poor George, he was just like me (except I'm a chick) teased by fellow classmates, a real loner and with a passion for writing! His character really spoke to me- especially the part where he states emphatically "I never let anyone read my stories....what if they didn't like them, what if they told me I was no good?" And despite this continues to write anyway- obviously for the sheer enjoyment of it. I could sure relate! This was me down to a T! In fact my brothers teased me endlessly when we first heard that line- and I was embarrassed as Hell!

Of course, it didn't prompt me to start passing my stories around to the general public, although being in a Writing Course at Uni I had to do it- and you know it ain't so bad. Except the reading them out loud bit- which I COULD NOT do. I've found it's OK for other people to read them, even outloud if they must, but I can't do it. That though has more to do with my Social Phobia then because I think they stories are crap or something. Actually I've put one up on this page- not BTTF related - just in case anyone's interested.

I have written some Back to the Future Fanfiction,  my favourite characters are George and Lorraine so  there's usually no time-travel involved, which is kind of weird  for a time-travel movie. My stories are basically fillers of the time between 1955 and 1985 and 1985 to whenever and pre-1955 stories, I write about life and junk...usually junk.

So anyway, that's my short little piece- if you have any comments post in the guestbook!

Thanks for your attention
