Stranger In My House

Someone left the door ajar
now a stranger's in my house

He's stealing sureness and faith
leaving filthy fingerprints on my mantle
and wasting my favorite rooms

I caught him in the attic
and we wrestled back and forth
shaking the pillars of the house

Now I've chased him to the cellar
where, groping in the darkness,
I find painful relics from my past

I see him, laughing low behind me,
with fingers on the light switch

And I scramble for the door....
