The United States of America is not like any other nation on earth. In fact, it is not really a nation at all, but rather a federation of individual states. The basic premise by which the United States was founded is that all men were created equal and that the People would rule themselves through Rule of Law - rather than through rule of men. This utterly confounds human nature. For it is human nature that men should rule over others, to subjegate them, dominate them, and exploit them. This is the rule of men. Politics is nothing but the application of the rule of me. Politics does not change and cannot change because politics is nothing but an extension of human nature. The Founding Fathers, although prone to their own human failings just as much as everyone else, took the bold step of applying their wisdom to create a system of Rule of Law, designed specifically to keep the human nature of politics in check. It is by no means a perfect system, but works well so long as We the People do not abdicate our very solemn responsibility and civic duty to apply ourselves faithfully by securing for ourselves and maintaining the collective political power by which we rule ourselves. For only in this manner can we ever hope to ensure our personal freedom and liberty.
