The plant in the ground (from the previous photo) and the one in the pot were the same size when planted. The one in the pot did much better. It overwintered very well. At the end of the season I placed the pot in a sheltered corner and packed oak leaves all around it. I have several types of penstemons in the garden but these are the only ones that have bloomed for me. I have a Penstemon "Sour Grapes" that comes up every year but has never bloomed - I'm not sure what the problem is. Several other types did not make it through the winter. |
