Since all our bird baths freeze in the winter, we needed something that would provide much needed drinking water through the winter months. We found this heated pet dish was an inexpensive solution. It is thermostatically controlled to keep the water just above freezing. My husband made a sort of landing platform since the sides of the dish don't provide a good grip. It is a plywood stand with sand added in the finishing coat of varnish to provide a safe landing area. It is well used throughout the winter. Since we needed an extension cord to use it we placed the cord in a section of PVC pipe so the squirrels couldn't chew it. |
