Birdbath Dripper
Our pedestal birdbath was broken by some rambunctious raccoons so we saved the bowl and turned it into a ground level bath.    My husband found some pipe and an old water valve to use for the fake faucet and assembled it as shown.  He punched a small hole in the bucket and when we water the plants we fill the bucket up with the hose.  It drips for quite a few hours and the birds are really attracted to it.  We placed a few flat rocks in the bottom of the bowl so the little birds like Chickadees and Juncos have a safe place to land.  It also attracts squirrels and raccoons.  We planted some ground cover and a few Coral Bells around it so maybe by next year it will look a little less bare.  The only cost was the galvanized bucket.

IMPORTANT:  Fit a screen just inside the bucket and inch or so from the rim.   This will prevent birds from falling into the bucket and not being able to get out again.

Hint:  place the hole in the bucket about a half inch or so from the bottom on the side of the bucket.  If you place the hole on the bottom it will most likely become clogged with debris.
