We have to buy gas for our cars. I live in a relatively urban area and there are very few sidewalks and almost no bike lanes. The bike lanes that do exist are right next to the road and usually ridden with trash, broken glass and pot holes. It's not like L.A. , Miami, or New York City where mass transit and alternative means of travel are the norm. I actually think Ohio (Cleveland area) is actually anti-alternative transportation. This is a manufacturing town, with automotive plants in the forefront. God-forbid, anyone should do something other than drive a car! I notice when I ride the "bike path to nowhere" in my city, I am assaulted by verbal taunts from passing cars and have had beer and pop cans thrown at me. It is like I am some kind of freak doing something so out of the ordinary, I deserve to be taunted and harassed. I could just hear one of the can throwers telling the police if they got caught, "Well, he was riding a bike out in public like he was just asking for it!"
The reason I refer the the bike path in my neighbrohood is because it is just that. The bike path, while more impressive than most in the area, leads nowhere other than a convience store, bar and gas station. The only people that are riding bikes to those places are the drunks who have no choice because their licenses have been suspended for DUI. The bike path in all it's glory is about 5 miles long. On the other side of the four lane highway is a pedestrian sidewalk. So where do the pedestrians walk? You guessed it, the bike path. The sidewalk also ends abruptly and leads nowhere.
My whole point is that we are fucked. We in this area are car dependant and therefore gas dependant. The gas refineries know this, the gas station owners know this, and we, the misfortunate consumer know this (well some of us). So, what do you do to someone who has no choice but, to buy your product? You rape them. You rape them as fast and as hard as you can and don't even offer any lube. Take no prisoners
The gas stations blame the refineries, the refineries blame OPEC, OPEC blames the refineries and right back around full circle. The people who own the oil and make the gas control the price. Plain and simple, and if one charges the other more the person to make it up is the consumer. Gas station owners aren't going to try to get a better price (or even bother looking for a different supplier) and pass the savings on to you. Never ever. Once the precident for the high price is set it doesn't matter what the Shell gas stations are paying per gallon, you'll never get it any cheaper because across the street Sunoco is selling it for the same damn price. It's a fucking monopoly. If someone tells you that you have a choice, punch them in the face because they are a liar and someone should make them stop lying.
The biggest insult is when gas jumps up $0.50 a gallon and everyone's bitching and moaning about how it's bullshit and unfair. Then when they lower the price by $0.05 those same people say, "Cheap gas, got to get it while it's cheap!" and brag to their friends and co-workers that they filled up at only $2.07 a gallon. That's like being beat up and ass raped by a some dude but, the dude says he's going to do you a favor or treat you nice. The big dude says (after you are beat up and helpless), " Now that I kicked your ass, I am going to ass rape you. But, don't you worry. I am going to do you a favor. I will ass rape you but, I will only stick the head of my cock in your ass. I won't put my cock all the way in and I will pump real slow."

And we are getting fucked. We are getting fucked at the gas pump, the grocery store, in Washington and it won't stop.
